Story
Meet Zoey! Zoey is approximately 7 1/2 years old and is said to be a Labrador Retriever/Poodle mix. Unfortunately, Zoey was removed from a home after being kept in unlivable conditions and not able to be outside for activity, nor had she ever been groomed. Because of this, we're hoping to find her a family who can show her just how wonderful life can be! Zoey was severely matted and needed immediate grooming. Luckily, we had a groomer on stand-by who spent almost 6 hours making sure Zoey was no longer uncomfortable or in pain. Her feet were matted over, her hind end was matted over, forcing urine and feces to stay impacted near her skin, and her entire body needed to be shaved down. We cannot stress this enough: These dogs need REGULAR professional grooming, at least every 6-8 weeks, to ensure their health and wellbeing! Please do not consider adopting Zoey unless you know you are able to provide this for her financially. None of this mistreatment or neglect has stopped Zoey from LOVING people. She's an absolute sweetheart who loves everyone she meets. She is one of our frequent 'office dogs' who gets to come up and hang out with the office staff during the workday. She just loves hanging out around people! Zoey has a nice moderate energy level, meaning she would very much love to be included in your daily walking, or even a hiking adventure, but doesn't necessarily need to run a marathon. Zoey is great at keeping her kennel clean, so we think she'll pick up on the new potty training schedule with consistency and patience. She has met several dogs whom she has loved, but has been seemingly afraid of some other dogs who are more assertive with her, so it may just depend on what kind of personality another dog has in her new home. She should also do well around children as long as everyone is properly introduced and supervised. Zoey is definitely deserving of the most loving family - if you think that might be you, please follow the link below! We are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been generally approved: https://www.co.monroe.wi.us/home/showpublisheddocument/35564 *Please email this back to monroecountydogshelter@gmail.com Zoey is spayed & fully vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200

Story
Meet Jake! Jake is a 7 year old male who recently had quite a change in his world, and his original family is hoping to find him a loving home. One of Jake's owners passed away not long ago, and the other member of the family works long hours and leaves Jake alone for long periods of time. They attempted to re-home him, but unfortunately after just 5 days, the family they trusted to take care of him ended up dumping him. They took him to a stranger's driveway, left him there with food, and took off in the middle of the night leaving him scared and confused. Luckily, he remained safe until he was brought to our shelter. His original family was devastated to find out that Jake was betrayed in this manner, and asked us to help them in finding him a new family who would never even consider something like this. Here is what his family said: DOB 7/4/2018 Jake is happy typical high energy 7 year old intact male Chocolate lab. He has been an outdoors dog all his life therefore he is not house trained. He walks nicely on a leash and knows basic sit and stay commands. He loves to dig and chew things. He is generally a quiet dog but will bark if a vehicle pulls up. Has been good with other dogs and cats that he's been around. If you think you would like to meet Jake and make him a member of your family, please reach out to us! Story
Meet Celina! Celina is approximately 1 year old and is thought to be a Labrador Retriever (possibly mixed) Celina has a very sweet & submissive temperament so far with us, and has been calm while walking on leash. We're still learning about her a little bit every day, but we think she'll do well with children & other pets as long as everyone is properly introduced and supervised. She can be shy at first, so her adult owners should make sure that children are respectful. She appears to be potty trained as she keeps her kennel clean, but we would recommend a refresher course so that she can adjust to the new potty schedule. While she's got a moderate energy level now, it's possible that it could increase as she settles in and gains confidence, so her family should be willing to give her daily exercise along with lots of cuddles! If you're looking for a medium sized gentle baby to add to your family, Celina would love to meet you! We are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been generally approved: https://www.co.monroe.wi.us/home/showpublisheddocument/35564 *Please email this back to monroecountydogshelter@gmail.com She will be spayed and fully vaccinated prior to adoption. Her adoption fee is $200.
