Meet TysonTyson has had a very challenging journey, he is a good dog who simply needs a home that understands his limits and respects his pace.Tyson is best suited for a quiet, well‑structured environment with predictable routines. He enjoys being with his people but is not an active dog. He can be reactive at times, but he responds well to calm redirection and does best with soft voices and low‑stress handling.Tyson should be the only furry family member in the home. He thrives when he can relax without the pressure of other pets or busy household traffic. A steady, peaceful home will set him up for success. We want to ensure Tyson finally finds the right match, and we are more than happy to discuss all of Tyson's needs with any interested adopters. As well, interested adopters would be required to have a consult with our Behaviour & Welfare Team.If you can offer Tyson a calm, consistent "retirement" home where he can feel safe and understood, he may be the companion you've been looking for. *Please note - Dog meets are by appointment only. If you are interested in meeting Tyson, the first step is to complete your online application. Staff will contact the approved applicant to discuss further. Hi, I'm Ziba. Please find info about me below.Breed: labrador/Golden Retriever mixAge: 4 years (d.o.b: 4/3/2021)Gender: female, spayedWeight: 26 kg Hi guys! My name is Ziba, and it means pretty in my native language. And let me tell you, boy am I pretty! I definitely do my name justice! Here are some things that you should know about me: You could say I’ve had a really rough life. I became blind due to a blow on the head. One of my eyes had to be removed because of it. My owner was not a good person. Let’s just leave it at that! I absolutely love people and love receiving attention. I love my fellow, doggy friends and love to play with them. I in general get along very well with humans and dogs, but I am definitely not a fan of cats. It would be best to be adopted in a home with no cats. I love playing with other dogs and going on long walks. Despite my very bad experience with humans, I still love to be around people, and I’m hoping that you can help erase my traumatic experience from my mind. I really look forward to meeting you! Energy level: moderate Prey Drive: non-observed, however, my adopter needs to be willing to train me should these behaviors ariseGets along with: Other dogs: yes Kids: yesCats: NoHere are some videos of her with kids and human. https://youtube.com/shorts/RniiPVoEKHo?si=5pbkzOMXnHvRSRio, https://youtube.com/shorts/BU1kzR1WPds?si=lR4UEXgHuUuWC-8Z Fears: I have experienced a major lack of love and attention, so I am mostly afraid of being abandoned. Training: Leash training: yes House trained:  Health notes:I am blind and have had one eye completely removed. I am spayed vaccinated and microchipped My adoption fee is 750.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. While our rescuers always seek a flight without a charge, there is the possibility of a passenger fee, not to exceed $300. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. More information can be found on our website. [MID EAST DOGS] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. I am friendly with every human I meet and I'm progressing in my ability to feel safe with other dogs. As I progress in being more familiar with my humans being able to protect me, I am able to trust them to keep me safe around other dogs which makes a whole bunch of difference in how I feel when out walking, I love cuddles, walks, and any exciting adventures with my humans. I look forward to showing my adopter how wonderful a dog I am. I will love playing in your yard if it's fenced and I love car rides. I'm not quite perfect yet, but I'm working on it! Would you perhaps be my new family to join me in my enjoyment of life?! She is friendly with literally everyone and has a kind, loyal, loving soul. RESCUE STORY: As a black dog in a high-kill shelter, SWEETIE was often overlooked until her time came to be on the euthanasia list due to lack of space.  LET’S GIVE THIS GIRL A LOVING HOME THAT SHE DESERVES!ENERGY LEVEL: Low to ModerateI get along with:DOGS: She is still dealing with some fears around other dogs so will need a bit of help in learning to trust them.CATS: Unknown but likely not because of prey instinctsKIDS: yesFEARS: currently, other dogs TRAINING: She has received leash and command training since her arrival in Canada LEASH SKILLS: Some fear-based barking when passing other dogs in close proximity HOUSE TRAINED: YesHEALTH NOTES: Normal girl with good health markersSPAYED:  yesVACCINATED: Yes (Rabies, Bordetella, Da2PP)MICROCHIPPED: Yes   I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Story
UPDATE: Hi Canada, Hi there. My name was Zeyno but my current caregiver calls me Lady because she calls her chickens "her Ladies" to come and I came too.  I love that name and respond to it affectionately, but you can call me anything you want as long as you call me.  I have gained some weight now and my coat is looking so shiny and smooth and I have the sparkle back in my eyes! I've arrived in this wonderful country and I am seeking my forever home. I am truly a loving soul but my current caregiver, who loves me dearly, has found out that I am not a good match with cats. I am a very friendly dog with most visitors to the home, giving them a big grin and tail wags. I really love being petted by my humans and joining them in their daily outdoors activities. I also enjoy dog toys and love to lay with them but I really do not know how to play with them but I like the security of them. I love lying in a quiet spot just looking out into Nature. I would be fine with another dog companion as long as it isn't a small, yappy dog as I find them a bit of a challenge. I am definitely not a good match with cats. I am really looking forward to showing my new humans how friendly I am. I still have a few fears of certain men and a few household items like brooms, but I'm really working on chilling when I'm coming face to face with something that I would have been afraid of just a few months ago. I long to show you how well house-trained I am and I will give you clues when I need to go out.  I love being outdoors because I have a covered area which is protected from the cold and rain but with lots of windows.  My caregiver has to coax me in at night when it is dark.  In the summertime I love to be outside all the time and sometimes at night in my protected spot.  I am doing well I respond to the directions of my main humans.  When would you like to meet me? I'm not too far away from Vancouver. Just submit an application for me and snap!!!, I can come and meet you wherever you live within Greater Vancouver. If you live further away, I would love for you to come to meet me in my neighbourhood. Here is a little more info about me: Breed: Labrador Retriever/Shepherd MixAge: 5 yearsGender: FemaleWeight: 24 kgsHeight: 65 cmCountry of origin: TurkeyHighlights: affectionate, loyal, deeply loving, people-oriented, peaceful, sweet If you are ready to meet the sweetest soul who only knows love, then look no further, you have found her. When you look into her eyes you see the inside of her soul. She looks at you with longing loving eyes that say "you are my everything and I only want to please you". It is truly amazing how beautiful her eyes are among all the scars on her face.  All she wants is to lay near you and get touched and petted.  If you stop she will put her paw on you to remind you she is there and to continue to love her.    My journey began at a rescue feeding spot, where I was born to a stray mother. My rescuers have known me since I was a tiny puppy, always full of love and light. Sadly, I was the only survivor of my litter, but my spirit remained unbreakable. From the beginning, I have shown nothing but pure love for people. Even if treated unkindly, I never lose my trust in humans - my heart simply knows no other way but to love. After the loss of my family, I continued living as a free-roaming dog in the area. One day, my rescuers found me with a severe wound on my back. They rushed me to the vet and were devastated to learn I had been raped. It is hard to even imagine that terrible moment, but knowing me, I probably thought I was just going to be petted - because that’s all I has ever wanted from humans: love and affection.  My front leg was broken and never fixed so I stand funny, but it does not hurt me and stop me from running and walking.  I am healthy now and I eat dry and wet food, I do not over eat I only eat till I am full and you can leave food in my dish and if I am hungry I will come back to it.Throughout my life in an urban area with many other dogs, I always avoid conflict. If a fight broke out, I would run to a corner and cry, as if pleading, “Please don’t fight.” Once it ended, I would joyfully wag my tail like a helicopter, happy to see peace restored. I am very submissive and do not like angry loud voices, I prefer baby talk.  I like to bury my head into your leg and can stay there until you stop rubbing my head.  I run to greet you when  you come home with the biggest smile "literately"  it looks like I am bearing my teeth but I am actually smiling and I will talk to you at the same time with little cry's of love.  I am not a barker, but will warn you if something is not right. So if I am left along I don't bark all day, I just lay on my bed where I can see the whole yard and patrol. I am very human-oriented and easygoing. While I can feel a bit unsure around other dogs, a gentle touch and soft voice immediately reassures me. I am fantastic with people - it’s truly all I long for, to be around them and can coexist with other dogs after being introduced to them.  I know how to walk with a leash, but need help to learn better, but I prefer to stay inside my yard where I feel safe.  I will follow you around the yard watching you garden and supervising you. I am affectionate, loyal, and deeply loving. The kind of dog who will be your devoted companion, always ready to share my warmth and gentle spirit. My rescuers believe I would be a wonderful match for someone who wants a sweet, peaceful, and endlessly loving friend. My temperament is remarkable. More than anything, I just want a human to love and call my own.If you’re looking for a soul who will cherish every moment with you and bring quiet joy to your life, I am waiting. Energy Level: lowI get along with:Dogs: Yes - larger calmer dogsCats: noKids: yes - older Fears: Angry, deep voices, being touched on my rump without knowing it is happening, I will cry and submit.  If I know you are petting me there I am ok with it. Prey drive: None observed. great with chickens.Training:Leash skills: some. Story
Urgency is now part of my story, as a new law in my country means our refuge can no longer stay open. Finding a home as soon as possible is essential for my friends and me, and I’m hoping my funny, sociable spirit is exactly what you’ve been looking for! Hello, I'm SAVORY (Sadie), and here's a bit about me:Breed: Likely a Labrador Retriever MixAge: 2 years (born June 30, 2023)Gender: FemaleWeight: 54 lbsHeight: 24 inCountry of Origin: Republic of GeorgiaHighlights: sociable, intelligent, dominant, strong, funny, fast learner, active If you are in the mood for a funny, sociable girl with elegant lines, look no further. Born safely at the refuge after my mother was rescued while pregnant, I’ve thankfully grown up without trauma. However, due to the sudden closure of our sanctuary, I’m now in urgent need of a family. Being the largest and strongest of my litter, I am more than ready to step out into the world and find my place by your side! High intelligence and a fast-learning nature define who I am. While I possess great strength and can be a bit 'bossy' with other dogs, I respond wonderfully to confident, experienced leaders who can teach me boundaries. Most puppy destructiveness is in the past, though having plenty of things to chew on is still a must! My personality is a mix of strength and silliness, guaranteed to keep you entertained. An active lifestyle is mandatory for a high-energy girl like me! Whether it’s acting as your running, hiking, or biking partner, I’m eager for any adventure. As a true Lab mix, water is my element, boating trips or running on the beach would be a dream come true. A family that enjoys fast interactive games or agility training would be the perfect match for my spirited nature. Watch me in action! Nov 2025: https://youtube.com/shorts/tIomKuBlL7E. Good day! I can walk again — I’m stronger, happier, and full of life. While I still have some strengthening to do, my progress has been incredible, and I’m making leaps and bounds every day. After being hit by a car and unable to walk, I went through surgery and worked hard on my recovery. With the help of kind rescuers and vets, I made it safely to Vancouver, where I’m now staying in a loving foster home, patiently waiting for someone special to call my own. Every day I grow stronger and show just how joyful and loving I truly am. I’m gentle, affectionate, playful, and food-motivated.  If you’re looking for a loyal companion, cuddle buddy, and walking partner (with continued support as I continue building strength), I might just be your guy.
