If Huey was a person he would be the captain of the track team who volunteers on the weekends at the local hospital. He is athletic and personable, a great balance, and it doesn’t hurt that he is handsome. The reality though is he is a dog, with legs made for adventure and love to share. We estimate Huey to be around 2-years-old and we suspect he may be a Labrador mix but of course because he is a rescue both of those details cannot be guaranteed. He is a great mid-size boy weighing in at 70 lbs. You surely noticed in his photos but this boy has a set of ears on him that are so expressive and ensure he doesn’t miss anything. Huey is so fortunate and has been in a loving foster home while he waits for his adoption day. This is wonderful for him and you! He gets to master all the skills needed to be the best boy and you get a dog that is home-life ready. This also gives us a front row seat to who he is at home. When you get a puppy its a cross your fingers and hope you get a good one, you never get to know if their personality is going to be the dreamy fit you hope for. That is the beauty of choosing a rescue though, you practically get a spec sheet and know if the quirks are the ones you’re okay with. With that, Huey has quirks that are common in rescue dogs and will be nothing short of just that -quirks. A confident loving person by his side, some basic structure and consistency is all any dog needs to succeed. Let’s start with all his goodness, Huey is incredibly smart, motivate, and responds well to being led with confidence. Honestly, I was impressed with how he sort of straightened up and came to life when his leash was handed to someone he is familiar with and approaches him with respect and expectation. This is a boy that thrives with boundaries! And thanks to his foster family, he does great in a crate, is house-trained, and knows how to settle indoors. My favorite detail his fosters shared about him was how much he enjoys following his people around, a bit ninja like, a quiet shadow. He doesn’t want to disturb you, just to be close to you. Now for the “tour” of Huey’s dream home- actually, it might be easier to tell you what is scratched off the list. Apartment life is not his favorite. If you watched his video, you know his love of running and playing in the backyard is too true and deep for him to ever live without a yard to let loose in. Also, apartment life means all potty breaks are on leash and he is still working on his leash skills in busy areas. Navigating hallways and sidewalks on leash multiple times a day is just not the Huey vibe. No fast-life or busy-cities for Huey. Huey has had several fosters, with different home lives and he has thrived in both despite how different they are. One was a busy family, 3 kids and the neighborhood hub for kids on the block. The other, a wonderful couple and 7 other dogs in the home, who he plays with well, shares toys, and fits right into the pack. Both of these environments would be considered “busy” but he was great! In the home with children, he built a beautiful friendship with the 8 year old, who said they were “best-friends” and all the kids praised him for being the funnest playmate with the best cuddlier. .The thing is, sometimes you can be good at something but not want that forever or always. This is where Huey is with kids, long-term living with kids is not for him. We joke that he is like the fun uncle- he will play all the games, share all the toys, roll in the grass, give 1000% to the fun- but he can do that because at the end of the visit they go home and so does he- the peaceful life. Same Huey! Same! Totally get it! Invite the kids over, Huey will be a hit, then watch him take the most glorious nap in his cozy, peaceful home. Huey currently lives with 7 other dogs, he shares toys like a dream and is a great playmate. The key to him being in a home with other dogs is best seen in how the fosters manage one small element of their schedule- meal time. A very common and understandable behavior he has shown is that he does not like other dogs to attempt to eat his food. Same Huey! Same! This behavior is called resource guarding- food being the resource- guarding being him giving a clear boundary to another dog about what he has. The simple way his foster avoids this ever being an issue in a house full of dogs is by feeding him, and the others, in their crates and not offering treats or table food to any of the dogs. If you have experience with this type of behavior you know, it is easy to manage and can just as easily be a non-issue. On the other side, a one-dog household eliminates the potential for tension over meal time. You know what works for you and if he is your one and only you won’t go without- he has plenty of personality and love to give. The biggest thing to know is we want to set him up for success in a calm, structured home with someone who gets him. Meet Shana Grace (Gracie)! Shana Grace is an absolute doll—she has the most beautiful black and brown brindle coat, the softest puppy-dog eyes, and the cutest floppy ears that bounce when she walks! At around 4 years old, she’s ready to bring calm, love, and snuggles into her forever home. Gracie is believed to be a Lab / Plott Hound mix—but since she’s a rescue, we can’t make any promises. Her perfect day is a slow stroll in the yard, a cozy nap in a sunny spot, and then curling up right beside you for cuddles. She’s house-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and enjoys peaceful car rides where she can watch the world go by. She’s affectionate without being demanding, and she will happily give kisses to her foster sister—or to anyone she trusts. Gracie is a gentle, calm soul. She can be a little shy when meeting new dogs, but once she feels comfortable, she’s happy to relax nearby or slowly join in play on her terms. She has been around children and teenagers, and with her mellow temperament, she would likely be amazing with kids. When it comes to cats, Gracie’s cat test was a little inconclusive because she was distracted and curious about everything else going on in the room. She did not show any signs of aggression, but until we can do a more thorough test, we just don’t know for sure. You know that feeling when you see a baby black bear cub and immediately think, “Well that’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life”? That’s Bubba Bear. Seriously. Take a fluffy little black bear cub, remove most of the teeth, give him the sweetest eyes imaginable, and somehow make him even more gentle and innocent looking. That’s Bubba to a T. He has one of those faces that makes people instantly smile. The kind of face you want to squish, kiss on the forehead, and tell how handsome he is approximately fourteen times a day. And once you get to know him, his personality is somehow even sweeter than his looks. With rescue it’s always a mystery and we can never guarantee breed or age. What we do know is that he is one of the gentlest easy going dog's you’ll ever meet. Bubba is currently being fostered in a calm home with two adults and two large male dogs his size. He’s also spent time around smaller dogs and has done well with them too. While Bubba is dog friendly, he’s not looking for a wrestling partner or a doggy best friend who wants to play all day. He’s much more of a “let’s peacefully coexist and take a group nap” kind of guy. His foster describes him as incredibly easygoing around other dogs. He enjoys their company, but his favorite activity is simply relaxing nearby. Most days you’ll find Bubba and his foster’s personal dogs quietly lounging together, enjoying each other’s presence without any drama or chaos. Because of this, we think he’d do best with another calm, mellow dog who shares his laid-back outlook on life rather than a dog looking for an energetic playmate. Bubba has also spent time with a cat on multiple occasions and has done well. If you would like to know more about his interactions with cats, just let us know! One of the things we love most about Bubba is how calming his presence is. Some dogs bring excitement wherever they go. Bubba brings peace. He’s the type of dog that quietly follows you from room to room, settles down nearby, and somehow makes the whole house feel a little more relaxed. His foster says he’s become her little shadow, but not in a clingy way. He isn’t constantly demanding attention or trying to crawl into your lap. He’s simply always nearby. A quiet companion. A steady presence. The kind of dog who makes working from home feel a little less lonely. Bubba is a bit of a slow burn when it comes to new people and environments. He likes to take things at his own pace. When he arrives somewhere new, he wants time to observe, watch what’s happening, carefully investigate new rooms, and figure things out before fully settling in. There’s something incredibly endearing about the way he approaches the world. He isn’t fearful. He just likes to think things through first. Once Bubba feels comfortable, his affectionate side starts to shine. His foster absolutely loves the way he asks for attention. He’ll quietly walk over, gently place his head in your lap, or offer you his paw as if he’s politely saying, “Hello hi, excuse me, I was wondering if perhaps you might have a moment available for some pets? Thank you so much.” It’s impossible not to melt. Bubba is crate trained, although he prefers not to be crated completely alone. Like the baby he is, he enjoys having company nearby. Whether it’s people or other dogs, he simply likes knowing he’s not by himself. He settles much better when he can see his family or canine friends nearby. He’s also doing wonderfully with potty training. Bubba has only had two accidents in his foster home, both within his first 24 hours there while adjusting to an entirely new environment. Since then, he’s done great. His foster has a doggy door and while Bubba doesn’t regularly use it, he has figured out that it’s available for emergencies if he absolutely needs it. His current routine includes potty breaks every few hours and that has worked beautifully for him. Now let’s discuss one of Bubba’s most adorable qualities: his relationship with treats. Despite not having many teeth left, this boy absolutely loves treats. He takes them with the gentlest mouth imaginable. Sometimes, however, his little tongue has to work overtime to compensate for the lack of hardware. Every now and then he’ll grab a treat, realize his tongue and remaining teeth didn’t quite coordinate the landing, and you’ll watch him do the cutest little readjustment maneuver you’ve ever seen. It’s like his tongue briefly clocks out, forgets its assignment, then rushes back to finish the job. The entire process is ridiculously adorable and guaranteed to make you laugh. Bubba’s foster says he is hands down one of the easiest fosters she’s ever had, and honestly, we’re not surprised. He’s sweet. He’s gentle. He’s calm. He’s low-maintenance. He’s affectionate without being demanding. He’s happy to simply be near the people he loves. We think Bubba would thrive in a calm home that matches his mellow personality. He’s much more of a homebody than an adventurer and would likely be happiest in a residential neighborhood with a fenced yard where he can enjoy a predictable routine and a peaceful environment. Apartment living or life in the middle of a busy city probably wouldn’t be his ideal match. She’s joyful, tender, and worth every second of the wait. We think Monarch is a gorgeous Labrador and Malinois mix! Tipping the scales at a perfect 40 pounds, she is in that "just right" size category. She’s a medium sized beauty who is big enough for real deal hugs, but compact enough that she won't take up the whole couch during your movie marathons! Like all our rescues, her breed is a wonderful mystery, but her lovability is 100% guaranteed! If we were building the perfect family dog from scratch, we'd probably end up with Chickie Nugget. Gentle? Check. Sweet with little kids? Absolutely. Easy to live with? Without a doubt. She's the kind of dog that doesn't need to be the life of the party to steal your heart. Instead, she quietly becomes everyone's favorite. The dog the kids curl up next to during movie night. The one happily following everyone from room to room just because she likes being part of whatever's going on. The one who somehow makes a house feel even more like home. Her foster told us her favorite thing about Chickie is how amazing she is with her children, and honestly... we think that says everything you need to know about this girl. As with any rescue dog, her exact breed is always a mystery, but our best guess is a Lab and German Shepherd mix. Whatever combination created her also gave her approximately three miles of legs. She's wonderfully lanky, adorably awkward at times, and somehow manages to make being all legs one of her cutest features. The very first thing you'll notice about Chickie is how gentle she is. She doesn't come barreling into a room demanding attention or bouncing off the walls looking for something to do. Instead, she has this calm, peaceful presence that instantly makes you feel comfortable around her. She enjoys being close to her people, happily tags along for whatever the day has planned, and is perfectly content simply existing alongside the people she loves. She's currently fostered with two children, ages 1 and 6, and it's honestly hard to imagine a dog better suited for family life. Her foster says Chickie adores the kids. She snuggles with them, is incredibly gentle around them, and seems to instinctively understand that little humans deserve extra patience. Watching her interact with them, it's hard not to feel like this is exactly what she was made for. If you're searching for a true family companion, not just a dog who tolerates kids, but one who genuinely enjoys being part of the family. Chickie checks every box. She also gets along with other dogs, though she's a bit more selective about the type of friendships she enjoys. She's fostered with a large male German Shepherd, and most days you'll find the two of them lounging together or cuddled up for a nap. Every now and then they'll head outside for a relaxed game of chase, but neither one feels the need to wrestle for hours or play nonstop. Chickie has also been around 4-month-old foster puppies and has done beautifully with them. While she's absolutely dog friendly, she isn't the type to rush into every interaction expecting a new best friend. She appreciates respectful introductions and naturally gravitates toward calmer dogs with similar energy. If there were another dog in her future home, we'd love for it to be an easygoing companion like herself. That said, she certainly doesn't need another dog to be happy. She'd be more than content soaking up every ounce of attention as your one and only. Chickie also met our house cat Biggie and met him appropriately and was very respectful around him. She did not chase Biggie, nor was she bothered by Biggie jumping or doing what cats do. Biggie also felt comfortable around her as well. We do not know if she has ever lived in a home before with a cat and this was our first time seeing her with a cat. If you have a cat in the home, we can arrange for her to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know! Chickie has wonderful house manners and is considered fully potty trained in her foster home. Like most dogs, she may need a little reminder when adjusting to a brand-new environment, but once she knows the routine, she catches on quickly. She also takes treats with the gentlest mouth and has recently started discovering that toys can actually be pretty fun. Balls seem to be earning a spot at the top of her favorites list. One thing to know is that Chickie isn't exactly shy about sharing her opinions when she's in a crate. Her foster uses an Alcatraz-style kennel because she's clever and would much rather be out with her family than behind closed doors. Because she can be vocal when kenneled, we don't think apartment living would be the best fit for her. We think Chickie would be happiest in a home with a backyard and a tall fence or somewhere with a little more room to roam, similar to the country setting she's enjoying in foster care. She isn't a high-energy dog, but she does enjoy stretching those long legs, taking leisurely neighborhood walks, riding in the car, and spending time outside before coming back in to relax with her people. Chickie Nugget isn't flashy. She isn't the dog doing backflips to get your attention. She's something even better. She's steady. Gentle. Kind. Meet Bjorn! This handsome 9-month-old pup is everything you could want in a best friend wrapped up in one adorable package. We believe he’s a Black Lab mix, and with his soft floppy ears, warm honey-brown eyes, and sleek black coat that shines chocolate brown in the sunlight, he’s impossible not to fall in love with. Bjorn is currently thriving in a loving foster home where his personality has truly blossomed. His foster family says he is the sweetest boy who loves checking in on his people throughout the day. While they’re working, he’ll gently stand up and rest his front paws on their arms just to say hello. It’s his own adorable way of making sure everyone is doing okay. After about fifteen seconds of cuddles, he’s ready to hop back down and continue exploring or playing. He’s the perfect mix of affectionate and independent. Bjorn gets along wonderfully with the other dogs in his foster home and enjoys having canine friends around. He loves running, playing, exploring the backyard, and following the other dogs on their adventures. He would likely do best with another friendly, confident dog who can continue showing him the ropes and help him build confidence in new situations. This smart little guy is mostly crate trained and potty trained, is very food motivated, and loves learning. He has no food aggression and happily shares space with the other dogs. One of his favorite places to relax is tucked under a desk while his foster works or cozied up under the bed, where he has created his own little “cave.” In the mornings, he’ll hop onto the bed to gently wake everyone up when it’s time for a potty break. Bjorn can be a little shy when meeting brand-new people or experiencing new places, but once he knows he’s safe, his loving personality shines through. His foster says he’s already growing more confident every day. He enjoys curling up in laps during movie nights and simply being close to the people he loves. As a young puppy who didn’t have much early socialization, he’s still discovering that the world is a pretty great place, and it’s been wonderful watching his confidence grow. Because he’s still building confidence, Bjorn would do best in a patient home that will continue introducing him to new experiences at his own pace. He’d likely do best with children around 10 years and older who can respect his gentle nature. His cat test showed he was fearful and avoidant rather than interested, so any introductions to cats should be slow and thoughtfully managed. If Huey was a person he would be the captain of the track team who volunteers on the weekends at the local hospital. He is athletic and personable, a great balance, and it doesn’t hurt that he is handsome. The reality though is he is a dog, with legs made for adventure and love to share. We estimate Huey to be around 2-years-old and we suspect he may be a Labrador mix but of course because he is a rescue both of those details cannot be guaranteed. He is a great mid-size boy weighing in at 70 lbs. You surely noticed in his photos but this boy has a set of ears on him that are so expressive and ensure he doesn’t miss anything. Huey is so fortunate and has been in a loving foster home while he waits for his adoption day. This is wonderful for him and you! He gets to master all the skills needed to be the best boy and you get a dog that is home-life ready. This also gives us a front row seat to who he is at home. When you get a puppy its a cross your fingers and hope you get a good one, you never get to know if their personality is going to be the dreamy fit you hope for. That is the beauty of choosing a rescue though, you practically get a spec sheet and know if the quirks are the ones you’re okay with. With that, Huey has quirks that are common in rescue dogs and will be nothing short of just that -quirks. A confident loving person by his side, some basic structure and consistency is all any dog needs to succeed. Let’s start with all his goodness, Huey is incredibly smart, motivate, and responds well to being led with confidence. Honestly, I was impressed with how he sort of straightened up and came to life when his leash was handed to someone he is familiar with and approaches him with respect and expectation. This is a boy that thrives with boundaries! And thanks to his foster family, he does great in a crate, is house-trained, and knows how to settle indoors. My favorite detail his fosters shared about him was how much he enjoys following his people around, a bit ninja like, a quiet shadow. He doesn’t want to disturb you, just to be close to you. Now for the “tour” of Huey’s dream home- actually, it might be easier to tell you what is scratched off the list. Apartment life is not his favorite. If you watched his video, you know his love of running and playing in the backyard is too true and deep for him to ever live without a yard to let loose in. Also, apartment life means all potty breaks are on leash and he is still working on his leash skills in busy areas. Navigating hallways and sidewalks on leash multiple times a day is just not the Huey vibe. No fast-life or busy-cities for Huey. Huey has had several fosters, with different home lives and he has thrived in both despite how different they are. One was a busy family, 3 kids and the neighborhood hub for kids on the block. The other, a wonderful couple and 7 other dogs in the home, who he plays with well, shares toys, and fits right into the pack. Both of these environments would be considered “busy” but he was great! In the home with children, he built a beautiful friendship with the 8 year old, who said they were “best-friends” and all the kids praised him for being the funnest playmate with the best cuddlier. .The thing is, sometimes you can be good at something but not want that forever or always. This is where Huey is with kids, long-term living with kids is not for him. We joke that he is like the fun uncle- he will play all the games, share all the toys, roll in the grass, give 1000% to the fun- but he can do that because at the end of the visit they go home and so does he- the peaceful life. Same Huey! Same! Totally get it! Invite the kids over, Huey will be a hit, then watch him take the most glorious nap in his cozy, peaceful home. Huey currently lives with 7 other dogs, he shares toys like a dream and is a great playmate. The key to him being in a home with other dogs is best seen in how the fosters manage one small element of their schedule- meal time. A very common and understandable behavior he has shown is that he does not like other dogs to attempt to eat his food. Same Huey! Same! This behavior is called resource guarding- food being the resource- guarding being him giving a clear boundary to another dog about what he has. The simple way his foster avoids this ever being an issue in a house full of dogs is by feeding him, and the others, in their crates and not offering treats or table food to any of the dogs. If you have experience with this type of behavior you know, it is easy to manage and can just as easily be a non-issue. On the other side, a one-dog household eliminates the potential for tension over meal time. You know what works for you and if he is your one and only you won’t go without- he has plenty of personality and love to give. The biggest thing to know is we want to set him up for success in a calm, structured home with someone who gets him. Meet Shana Grace (Gracie)! Shana Grace is an absolute doll—she has the most beautiful black and brown brindle coat, the softest puppy-dog eyes, and the cutest floppy ears that bounce when she walks! At around 4 years old, she’s ready to bring calm, love, and snuggles into her forever home. Gracie is believed to be a Lab / Plott Hound mix—but since she’s a rescue, we can’t make any promises. You know that feeling when you see a baby black bear cub and immediately think, “Well that’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life”? That’s Bubba Bear. Seriously. Take a fluffy little black bear cub, remove most of the teeth, give him the sweetest eyes imaginable, and somehow make him even more gentle and innocent looking. That’s Bubba to a T. He has one of those faces that makes people instantly smile. The kind of face you want to squish, kiss on the forehead, and tell how handsome he is approximately fourteen times a day. And once you get to know him, his personality is somehow even sweeter than his looks. With rescue it’s always a mystery and we can never guarantee breed or age. What we do know is that he is one of the gentlest easy going dog's you’ll ever meet. Bubba is currently being fostered in a calm home with two adults and two large male dogs his size. He’s also spent time around smaller dogs and has done well with them too. While Bubba is dog friendly, he’s not looking for a wrestling partner or a doggy best friend who wants to play all day. He’s much more of a “let’s peacefully coexist and take a group nap” kind of guy. His foster describes him as incredibly easygoing around other dogs. He enjoys their company, but his favorite activity is simply relaxing nearby. Most days you’ll find Bubba and his foster’s personal dogs quietly lounging together, enjoying each other’s presence without any drama or chaos. Because of this, we think he’d do best with another calm, mellow dog who shares his laid-back outlook on life rather than a dog looking for an energetic playmate. Bubba has also spent time with a cat on multiple occasions and has done well. If you would like to know more about his interactions with cats, just let us know! One of the things we love most about Bubba is how calming his presence is. Some dogs bring excitement wherever they go. Bubba brings peace. He’s the type of dog that quietly follows you from room to room, settles down nearby, and somehow makes the whole house feel a little more relaxed. His foster says he’s become her little shadow, but not in a clingy way. He isn’t constantly demanding attention or trying to crawl into your lap. He’s simply always nearby. A quiet companion. A steady presence. The kind of dog who makes working from home feel a little less lonely. Bubba is a bit of a slow burn when it comes to new people and environments. He likes to take things at his own pace. When he arrives somewhere new, he wants time to observe, watch what’s happening, carefully investigate new rooms, and figure things out before fully settling in. There’s something incredibly endearing about the way he approaches the world. He isn’t fearful. He just likes to think things through first. Once Bubba feels comfortable, his affectionate side starts to shine. His foster absolutely loves the way he asks for attention. He’ll quietly walk over, gently place his head in your lap, or offer you his paw as if he’s politely saying, “Hello hi, excuse me, I was wondering if perhaps you might have a moment available for some pets? Thank you so much.” It’s impossible not to melt. Bubba is crate trained, although he prefers not to be crated completely alone. Like the baby he is, he enjoys having company nearby. Whether it’s people or other dogs, he simply likes knowing he’s not by himself. He settles much better when he can see his family or canine friends nearby. He’s also doing wonderfully with potty training. Bubba has only had two accidents in his foster home, both within his first 24 hours there while adjusting to an entirely new environment. Since then, he’s done great. His foster has a doggy door and while Bubba doesn’t regularly use it, he has figured out that it’s available for emergencies if he absolutely needs it. His current routine includes potty breaks every few hours and that has worked beautifully for him. Now let’s discuss one of Bubba’s most adorable qualities: his relationship with treats. Despite not having many teeth left, this boy absolutely loves treats. He takes them with the gentlest mouth imaginable. Sometimes, however, his little tongue has to work overtime to compensate for the lack of hardware. Every now and then he’ll grab a treat, realize his tongue and remaining teeth didn’t quite coordinate the landing, and you’ll watch him do the cutest little readjustment maneuver you’ve ever seen. It’s like his tongue briefly clocks out, forgets its assignment, then rushes back to finish the job. The entire process is ridiculously adorable and guaranteed to make you laugh. Bubba’s foster says he is hands down one of the easiest fosters she’s ever had, and honestly, we’re not surprised. He’s sweet. He’s gentle. He’s calm. He’s low-maintenance. He’s affectionate without being demanding. He’s happy to simply be near the people he loves. We think Bubba would thrive in a calm home that matches his mellow personality. He’s much more of a homebody than an adventurer and would likely be happiest in a residential neighborhood with a fenced yard where he can enjoy a predictable routine and a peaceful environment. Apartment living or life in the middle of a busy city probably wouldn’t be his ideal match. She's the kind of dog that doesn't need to be the life of the party to steal your heart. Instead, she quietly becomes everyone's favorite. The dog the kids curl up next to during movie night. The one happily following everyone from room to room just because she likes being part of whatever's going on. The one who somehow makes a house feel even more like home. Her foster told us her favorite thing about Chickie is how amazing she is with her children, and honestly... we think that says everything you need to know about this girl. As with any rescue dog, her exact breed is always a mystery, but our best guess is a Lab and German Shepherd mix. Whatever combination created her also gave her approximately three miles of legs. She's wonderfully lanky, adorably awkward at times, and somehow manages to make being all legs one of her cutest features. The very first thing you'll notice about Chickie is how gentle she is. She doesn't come barreling into a room demanding attention or bouncing off the walls looking for something to do. Instead, she has this calm, peaceful presence that instantly makes you feel comfortable around her. She enjoys being close to her people, happily tags along for whatever the day has planned, and is perfectly content simply existing alongside the people she loves. She's currently fostered with two children, ages 1 and 6, and it's honestly hard to imagine a dog better suited for family life. Her foster says Chickie adores the kids. She snuggles with them, is incredibly gentle around them, and seems to instinctively understand that little humans deserve extra patience. Watching her interact with them, it's hard not to feel like this is exactly what she was made for. If you're searching for a true family companion, not just a dog who tolerates kids, but one who genuinely enjoys being part of the family. Chickie checks every box. She also gets along with other dogs, though she's a bit more selective about the type of friendships she enjoys. She's fostered with a large male German Shepherd, and most days you'll find the two of them lounging together or cuddled up for a nap. Every now and then they'll head outside for a relaxed game of chase, but neither one feels the need to wrestle for hours or play nonstop. Chickie has also been around 4-month-old foster puppies and has done beautifully with them. While she's absolutely dog friendly, she isn't the type to rush into every interaction expecting a new best friend. She appreciates respectful introductions and naturally gravitates toward calmer dogs with similar energy. If there were another dog in her future home, we'd love for it to be an easygoing companion like herself. That said, she certainly doesn't need another dog to be happy. She'd be more than content soaking up every ounce of attention as your one and only. Chickie also met our house cat Biggie and met him appropriately and was very respectful around him. She did not chase Biggie, nor was she bothered by Biggie jumping or doing what cats do. Biggie also felt comfortable around her as well. We do not know if she has ever lived in a home before with a cat and this was our first time seeing her with a cat. If you have a cat in the home, we can arrange for her to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know! Chickie has wonderful house manners and is considered fully potty trained in her foster home. Like most dogs, she may need a little reminder when adjusting to a brand-new environment, but once she knows the routine, she catches on quickly. She also takes treats with the gentlest mouth and has recently started discovering that toys can actually be pretty fun. Balls seem to be earning a spot at the top of her favorites list. One thing to know is that Chickie isn't exactly shy about sharing her opinions when she's in a crate. Her foster uses an Alcatraz-style kennel because she's clever and would much rather be out with her family than behind closed doors. Because she can be vocal when kenneled, we don't think apartment living would be the best fit for her. We think Chickie would be happiest in a home with a backyard and a tall fence or somewhere with a little more room to roam, similar to the country setting she's enjoying in foster care. She isn't a high-energy dog, but she does enjoy stretching those long legs, taking leisurely neighborhood walks, riding in the car, and spending time outside before coming back in to relax with her people. Chickie Nugget isn't flashy. She isn't the dog doing backflips to get your attention. She's something even better. She's steady. Gentle. Kind. Meet Bjorn! This handsome 9-month-old pup is everything you could want in a best friend wrapped up in one adorable package. We believe he’s a Black Lab mix, and with his soft floppy ears, warm honey-brown eyes, and sleek black coat that shines chocolate brown in the sunlight, he’s impossible not to fall in love with. Bjorn is currently thriving in a loving foster home where his personality has truly blossomed. His foster family says he is the sweetest boy who loves checking in on his people throughout the day. While they’re working, he’ll gently stand up and rest his front paws on their arms just to say hello. It’s his own adorable way of making sure everyone is doing okay. After about fifteen seconds of cuddles, he’s ready to hop back down and continue exploring or playing. He’s the perfect mix of affectionate and independent. Bjorn gets along wonderfully with the other dogs in his foster home and enjoys having canine friends around. He loves running, playing, exploring the backyard, and following the other dogs on their adventures. He would likely do best with another friendly, confident dog who can continue showing him the ropes and help him build confidence in new situations. This smart little guy is mostly crate trained and potty trained, is very food motivated, and loves learning. He has no food aggression and happily shares space with the other dogs. One of his favorite places to relax is tucked under a desk while his foster works or cozied up under the bed, where he has created his own little “cave.” In the mornings, he’ll hop onto the bed to gently wake everyone up when it’s time for a potty break. Bjorn can be a little shy when meeting brand-new people or experiencing new places, but once he knows he’s safe, his loving personality shines through. His foster says he’s already growing more confident every day. He enjoys curling up in laps during movie nights and simply being close to the people he loves. As a young puppy who didn’t have much early socialization, he’s still discovering that the world is a pretty great place, and it’s been wonderful watching his confidence grow. Because he’s still building confidence, Bjorn would do best in a patient home that will continue introducing him to new experiences at his own pace. He’d likely do best with children around 10 years and older who can respect his gentle nature. His cat test showed he was fearful and avoidant rather than interested, so any introductions to cats should be slow and thoughtfully managed. Meet Nellie! 💕🐾 Nellie is a sweet, affectionate girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She absolutely loves people and has a way of turning just about everyone she meets into a new friend. She may give a little bark when someone approaches, but once she realizes they’re there to say hello, she’s all about the pets and attention. Nellie would be a wonderful match for an active person or family who enjoys being outside. She has plenty of energy, strong athletic legs, and would likely make an amazing walking, hiking, or even running buddy. She’s still working on her leash manners, but she’s already showing that she can stay close and listen with some guidance. She’s also incredibly food-motivated, which makes training with her both fun and rewarding. In just a couple of weeks with her foster, Nellie has already made huge progress with crate training. She now settles much more calmly and will even choose to go lie in her crate on her own during the day. Nellie can be a little unsure about certain new experiences, especially things like the bath hose, but with patience, encouragement, and a little coaxing, she continues to improve. She’s the kind of dog who just needs someone willing to show her that the world is a safe and exciting place. If happiness could grow four legs and a wagging tail, we'd be introducing you to Nero Roo. This little guy is basically a walking, bouncing, zooming bundle of pure joy. Whether he's tossing his toys around, making himself laugh with his own solo zoomies, following his foster around like the world's cutest little shadow, or curling up for a nap after wearing himself out, Nero lives every single day like it's the best day ever. And honestly? We could all learn a thing or two from him. Whatever breeds came together to create this handsome little guy, they gave him the perfect mix of playful puppy energy, good looks, and a personality that's somehow even cuter than his face. Nero is exactly what you'd hope for in a puppy. He's social, affectionate, curious, goofy, and always looking for his next adventure. He loves everyone he meets and has become quite the little entertainer. Whether he's making up his own games, proudly carrying toys around the house, or bouncing through the room with the cutest mini zoomies you've ever seen, he has a way of making people laugh without even trying. Speaking of toys... this boy is obsessed! Nero can keep himself entertained for ages, happily tossing toys around, pouncing on them, and creating his own little puppy party. Every now and then he'll get so excited while playing that he'll break out into a burst of solo zoomies before going right back to playing like nothing happened. It's absolutely hilarious to watch. Once he's finally worn himself out, he's more than happy to curl up for a nap before doing it all over again. And when playtime is over? He transforms into the sweetest little cuddle bug and happily follows his foster from room to room like the perfect little shadow. If you're moving around the house, chances are Nero won't be far behind because he simply wants to be wherever his people are. Nero currently lives with four other dogs ranging from small to large and gets along wonderfully with all of them. Like any puppy, he'd love for everyone to play as much as he does... unfortunately for him, the resident dogs don't always share his enthusiasm! Even so, he enjoys their company and would likely thrive with another playful dog who could match his puppy energy. He's also fostered with free-roaming cats and has done well with them, making him a wonderful candidate for a home with feline friends too. Nero has also spent time around children as young as three years old while accompanying his foster to work, and he absolutely loves all the attention. He's always excited to make new friends and happily plays with the kids who come to visit. He's already crate trained and does a wonderful job, only whining when he needs to go outside to potty. Potty training is going well too! Like any young puppy, he's still learning where the appropriate place to go is, but he's a smart little guy who's picking things up quickly. With routine, structure, and consistency, we think he'll continue making great progress. He's also incredibly food motivated and eager to learn. Nero is already learning "sit" and has picked it up quickly, making training both fun and rewarding. He's the kind of puppy who's excited to work with you, especially if treats are involved. Now, because Nero is a puppy, he's very much in his "everything is a toy" phase of life. That includes your hands! He's mouthy in that typical puppy way and will need a family committed to continuing his training and helping him learn appropriate manners as he grows. The good news is he's eager to please, responds well to learning, and has all the makings of an amazing lifelong companion. We think Nero would do wonderfully with a semi-active family that's excited to embrace all the fun that comes with raising a puppy. Stop scrolling… because Scarlet Mae is the kind of dog people don’t forget. From the moment you meet her, she has this way of making you feel like you’ve known her forever. Maybe it’s those adorable floppy doppie ears that bounce with every step, or the way she looks at you like you’re already her favorite person. Whatever it is, it works! Because Scarlet wins people over almost instantly. She’s affectionate, attentive, and completely people-oriented in the best way. The kind of dog who doesn’t just want to be near you, she wants to be with you. Whether she’s leaning in for hugs, soaking up pets, or gently asking for just a little more love, Scarlet has a way of turning even the simplest moments into something special. She is a rescue dog and with any rescue dog, it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. Scarlet lives in a foster home with another dog sister. They get along great playing and taking rests. One thing we do know is that this girl is so people oriented and attentive to you when you're with her, it’s probably one of our favorite things about Scarlet. All she wants to do is make you happy and put a smile on your face. If you watched her video, then you know exactly what we are talking about. Now just imagine what that feeling is like when she is actually with you! She is even good with kids, hanging out with a 12-year-old here at the rescue. She snuggled up next to him on the couch, asking for affection without being too pushy and was so content sitting next to him getting all the love and affection. We believe she would make a great family dog. Another thing we love about Scarlet is the way she will sit in your lap letting you give her the biggest full body hugs and when you stop… she’ll lean even closer to you. Almost like she's saying, “hey friend, just 5 more minutes please.” It’s very sweet. Scarlet is dog friendly and has done great with all of the dogs we have introduced her to. She loves to romp around in the yard with the other dogs, playing chase and exploring with her doggy friends. For the most part, Scarlet is either enjoying the sunshine and fresh air while the other pups around her are playing, off exploring, or getting loved on by her people. When Scarlet first meets a new doggy friend, she prefers slower introductions to get to know her new pal and will also give a subtle correction to a dog if she’s not up for play in that moment or if things are getting a little too rough. Like how an older sister would do with her little brother, a teaching moment. In a home, she will do best with a medium energy male that enjoys those relaxing moments together, will be up for a game of chase every now and then, and will also be mindful of her boundaries when she’s ready to relax. If you don’t have other dogs, that’s fine too! She does not need the company of another dog to help her feel comfortable and open up nor does she need another dog to fulfill her energy needs. She is a confident love bug all on her own and will be just as happy being the center of your attention. She also met our house cat Biggie and met him appropriately and was very respectful around him. She did not chase Biggie, nor was she bothered by Biggie jumping or doing what cats do. Biggie also felt comfortable around her as well. We do not know if Scarlet has ever lived in a home before with a cat and this was our first time seeing her with a cat. If you have a cat in the home, we can arrange for her to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know! Scarlet is also a smart girl and is a quick learner too. She already knows how to sit, is mastering her leash skills, and has shown us that she is crate trained and potty trained as well. She is very people oriented, eager to please, and loves a good tasty treat. All the fundamentals that make any additional training you want to do with her that much more enjoyable for you both. She really impressed us with how quickly she responded to every command we gave her. Scarlet has the type of energy that is perfectly in the middle. Not too high and not too low.
