If Huey was a person he would be the captain of the track team who volunteers on the weekends at the local hospital. He is athletic and personable, a great balance, and it doesn’t hurt that he is handsome. The reality though is he is a dog, with legs made for adventure and love to share. We estimate Huey to be around 2-years-old and we suspect he may be a Labrador mix but of course because he is a rescue both of those details cannot be guaranteed. He is a great mid-size boy weighing in at 56 lbs. You surely noticed in his photos but this boy has a set of ears on him that are so expressive and ensure he doesn’t miss anything. Huey is so fortunate and has been in a loving foster home while he waits for his adoption day. This is wonderful for him and you! He gets to master all the skills needed to be the best boy and you get a dog that is home-life ready. This also gives us a front row seat to who he is at home. When you get a puppy its a cross your fingers and hope you get a good one, you never get to know if their personality is going to be the dreamy fit you hope for. That is the beauty of choosing a rescue though, you practically get a spec sheet and know if the quirks are the ones you’re okay with. With that, Huey has quirks that are common in rescue dogs and will be nothing short of just that -quirks. A confident loving person by his side, some basic structure and consistency is all any dog needs to succeed. Let’s start with all his goodness, Huey is incredibly smart, motivate, and responds well to being led with confidence. Honestly, I was impressed with how he sort of straightened up and came to life when his leash was handed to someone he is familiar with and approaches him with respect and expectation. This is a boy that thrives with boundaries! And thanks to his foster family, he does great in a crate, is house-trained, and knows how to settle indoors. My favorite detail his fosters shared about him was how much he enjoys following his people around, a bit ninja like, a quiet shadow. He doesn’t want to disturb you, just to be close to you. Now for the “tour” of Huey’s dream home- actually, it might be easier to tell you what is scratched off the list. Apartment life is not his favorite. If you watched his video, you know his love of running and playing in the backyard is too true and deep for him to ever live without a yard to let loose in. Also, apartment life means all potty breaks are on leash and he is still working on his leash skills in busy areas. Navigating hallways and sidewalks on leash multiple times a day is just not the Huey vibe. No fast-life or busy-cities for Huey. Huey has had several fosters, with different home lives and he has thrived in both despite how different they are. One was a busy family, 3 kids and the neighborhood hub for kids on the block. The other, a wonderful couple and 7 other dogs in the home, who he plays with well, shares toys, and fits right into the pack. Both of these environments would be considered “busy” but he was great! In the home with children, he built a beautiful friendship with the 8 year old, who said they were “best-friends” and all the kids praised him for being the funnest playmate with the best cuddlier. .The thing is, sometimes you can be good at something but not want that forever or always. This is where Huey is with kids, long-term living with kids is not for him. We joke that he is like the fun uncle- he will play all the games, share all the toys, roll in the grass, give 1000% to the fun- but he can do that because at the end of the visit they go home and so does he- the peaceful life. Same Huey! Same! Totally get it! Invite the kids over, Huey will be a hit, then watch him take the most glorious nap in his cozy, peaceful home. Huey currently lives with 7 other dogs, he shares toys like a dream and is a great playmate. The key to him being in a home with other dogs is best seen in how the fosters manage one small element of their schedule- meal time. A very common and understandable behavior he has shown is that he does not like other dogs to attempt to eat his food. Same Huey! Same! This behavior is called resource guarding- food being the resource- guarding being him giving a clear boundary to another dog about what he has. The simple way his foster avoids this ever being an issue in a house full of dogs is by feeding him, and the others, in their crates and not offering treats or table food to any of the dogs. If you have experience with this type of behavior you know, it is easy to manage and can just as easily be a non-issue. On the other side, a one-dog household eliminates the potential for tension over meal time. You know what works for you and if he is your one and only you won’t go without- he has plenty of personality and love to give. The biggest thing to know is we want to set him up for success in a calm, structured home with someone who gets him. Mochi is magic in a bottle! He’s a happy go lucky pup with a heart of gold, and he’s ready for his forever home. We believe that Mochi is a Cur, Pittie mix, but he is a rescue so these are just our best guesses! Mochi has a stunning dark brindle coat. It’s giving expensive, sleek, and stylish! Make way for Mr. Mochi man! Sweet Mochi is estimated to be around 2 years old, and he currently weighs in at a lap-sized 66 pounds. You will enjoy all of those lbs of love when he climbs into your lap for his big bear hug. And you won’t even remember that he’s not a lap dog! The first thing you’ll notice about Mochi is how incredibly people-oriented he is. He greets each and every new face with a wagging tail and a big smile. He did perfectly in the car, sitting like a gentleman, waiting for you to turn around at the red lights to give him a nod and a “good boy Mochi!” Mochi sometimes gets a little excited on a leash, so he would be best with someone who can handle his wiggle butts and ready to go attitude! He LOVES everyone!! We know we already told you how amazing Mochi is in the car, but we really mean it! This quality really does just aid in making him a perfect adventure buddy. He enjoys his car rides in the back seat, watching the world go by while you drive. Mochi loves to accompany his foster family on shopping trips and Starbucks runs, and while he’s out- he’s absolutely spoiled by all who meet him. He’s just so handsome, and always so happy to meet new people- usually new humans will say something like “wow, what a beautiful coat!” followed shortly by “Wow! Thank you for the kisses, Mochi!” Mochi has learned that the compliments come freely and the treats come easy for a good boy like him. If your definition of “adventure” stretches past a trip to Target, fret not- Mochi is a total outdoorsman. This guy doesn’t mind puddles, ice, snow or steep climbs. The most treacherous hike couldn’t faze him. Mochi is both confident and trusting on leash, which makes him a perfect hiking companion. He has the stamina to join you for long excursions, and the car riding skills to join you in far away lands. He’s people-oriented enough to check in from time to time, making adventuring that much safer and more enjoyable. He’s a perfect camping/hiking/adventuring companion, through and through! When you get to that scenic overlook, Mochi will “sit” on command for that perfect picture, in exchange for a treat, of course! Speaking of treats, Mochi is super food motivated! This makes further training with him enjoyable and rewarding for both of you. He already sits on command for treats and he takes them gently. He also knows how to stay, he is such a good listener! His favorite treat is beef jerky, and yes, he did ask us to include this factoid in his bio! It is very important and relevant information for his future family to know. Mochi’s foster family does include two small dogs with a medium to low energy level. Mochi is firmly in the medium energy category, with legs that could run all day and a heart that could snuggle all night. Mochi loves to play with other dogs, and does play with his foster siblings, but is respectful when the other dogs are done playing, or don’t want to play. His lower energy friends keep him balanced, and for that reason we believe he would do best in a home with medium to low energy female dogs like his foster siblings. Mochi is so people-oriented that he could also thrive as a solo dog, soaking up all of your attention for himself. Mochi is a total toy lover too. He likes to carry his toys around in his mouth, and he has been reported to do so for up to a half hour at a time. It’s impossibly adorable. He also likes to pull his toys out of his toy box, one by one, doing a little “inventory” before deciding which is best. He’s also great at catching his toys in his mouth. He’s such a talented and happy boy! I was one of the lucky people able to play tug-of-war with Mochi, and of course he won. With a boy this cute you don’t even care when you lose a great battle, because you’ve already won just by being with him!!! Precious Mochi is so loving and happy, he will surely brighten any home. We would be remiss to not mention that Mochi is a total staff favorite! He’s described as “funny and cute,” by our behavior team lead, as “so happy” by one of our K9 Coaches, and as “an incredibly special boy,” by one of our adoption coordinators. Mochi is truly such a bright and special soul, and he has so many fans and friends already, but he’s ready for his forever home. Meet Sweet Ponderosa (aka Pondsy)! If pure sunshine, a dash of goofiness, and a sprinkle of “goodest boy energy” had a puppy, it would be Pondsy. This handsome, almost-2-year-old Shepherd/Lab mix weighs around 50 pounds, and every single one of them is packed with love, wiggles, and joy. He’s got a soft, shiny black coat that glows in the sun and big warm brown eyes that could melt anyone on the spot. When he sees his people, get ready—his signature Pondsy Wiggle kicks in, his tail goes into overdrive, and he plops right over for belly rubs like it’s his job. Pondsy is the kind of dog who makes every day feel like an adventure. Whether he’s going on a hike, trotting beside you on a walk, or curling up in the car for a nap, he’s just happy to be included. He’s still a young pup at heart—curious, silly, and always ready for fun. He’d make an amazing hiking buddy, but he’s also a total snuggle bug who loves to chill once the adventures are over. Pondsy has been such a trooper—he had leg surgery and worked hard in physical therapy, and he’s come out the other side stronger and happier than ever! His back leg has a bit of character to it now (it adds to his charm, really), but it doesn’t slow him down one bit. He loves to run, play, and zoom just like any other dog. He’s best suited for a home without cats (they’re way too interesting for his liking!) and without small kids, since they can be a bit overwhelming for him. Teenagers (13+) and adults, though? He adores them—he’ll bond deeply and follow you around like your biggest fan. Pondsy could even do apartment life (first floor!) if he gets enough exercise and mental stimulation, but a yard to run and play in would make him extra happy. He is cautious about new situations and noises, gets courage from his loved ones, and is growing more confident every day. He takes lots of walks in his little city and courageously troops through the hustle and bustle, though he does prefer the quiet back streets and parks. He’s also beautifully behaved in the car – we forget he is even there. He loves to zoom around and wrestle with his foster siblings, chase pine cones and sticks in the yard, watch the neighborhood from his porch, or just chill out with everyone. This medium-low-energy boy takes lots of naps! And he is happy settling down and getting cozy with a good chew toy to work on. Still, an apartment is not the best place for him. Meet Shana Grace (Gracie)! Shana Grace is an absolute doll—she has the most beautiful black and brown brindle coat, the softest puppy-dog eyes, and the cutest floppy ears that bounce when she walks! At around 4 years old, she’s ready to bring calm, love, and snuggles into her forever home. Gracie is believed to be a Lab / Plott Hound mix—but since she’s a rescue, we can’t make any promises. She’s affectionate without being demanding, and she will happily give kisses to her foster sister—or to anyone she trusts. Gracie is a gentle, calm soul. She can be a little shy when meeting new dogs, but once she feels comfortable, she’s happy to relax nearby or slowly join in play on her terms. She has been around children and teenagers, and with her mellow temperament, she would likely be amazing with kids. She’s patient, gentle, and sweet, making her a perfect companion for a family who wants a calm, loving pup by their side. When it comes to cats, Gracie’s cat test was a little inconclusive because she was distracted and curious about everything else going on in the room. She did not show any signs of aggression, but until we can do a more thorough test, we just don’t know for sure. If Huey was a person he would be the captain of the track team who volunteers on the weekends at the local hospital. He is athletic and personable, a great balance, and it doesn’t hurt that he is handsome. The reality though is he is a dog, with legs made for adventure and love to share. We estimate Huey to be around 2-years-old and we suspect he may be a Labrador mix but of course because he is a rescue both of those details cannot be guaranteed. He is a great mid-size boy weighing in at 56 lbs. You surely noticed in his photos but this boy has a set of ears on him that are so expressive and ensure he doesn’t miss anything. Huey is so fortunate and has been in a loving foster home while he waits for his adoption day. This is wonderful for him and you! He gets to master all the skills needed to be the best boy and you get a dog that is home-life ready. This also gives us a front row seat to who he is at home. When you get a puppy its a cross your fingers and hope you get a good one, you never get to know if their personality is going to be the dreamy fit you hope for. That is the beauty of choosing a rescue though, you practically get a spec sheet and know if the quirks are the ones you’re okay with. With that, Huey has quirks that are common in rescue dogs and will be nothing short of just that -quirks. A confident loving person by his side, some basic structure and consistency is all any dog needs to succeed. Let’s start with all his goodness, Huey is incredibly smart, motivate, and responds well to being led with confidence. Honestly, I was impressed with how he sort of straightened up and came to life when his leash was handed to someone he is familiar with and approaches him with respect and expectation. This is a boy that thrives with boundaries! And thanks to his foster family, he does great in a crate, is house-trained, and knows how to settle indoors. My favorite detail his fosters shared about him was how much he enjoys following his people around, a bit ninja like, a quiet shadow. He doesn’t want to disturb you, just to be close to you. Now for the “tour” of Huey’s dream home- actually, it might be easier to tell you what is scratched off the list. Apartment life is not his favorite. If you watched his video, you know his love of running and playing in the backyard is too true and deep for him to ever live without a yard to let loose in. Also, apartment life means all potty breaks are on leash and he is still working on his leash skills in busy areas. Navigating hallways and sidewalks on leash multiple times a day is just not the Huey vibe. No fast-life or busy-cities for Huey. Huey has had several fosters, with different home lives and he has thrived in both despite how different they are. One was a busy family, 3 kids and the neighborhood hub for kids on the block. The other, a wonderful couple and 7 other dogs in the home, who he plays with well, shares toys, and fits right into the pack. Both of these environments would be considered “busy” but he was great! In the home with children, he built a beautiful friendship with the 8 year old, who said they were “best-friends” and all the kids praised him for being the funnest playmate with the best cuddlier. .The thing is, sometimes you can be good at something but not want that forever or always. This is where Huey is with kids, long-term living with kids is not for him. We joke that he is like the fun uncle- he will play all the games, share all the toys, roll in the grass, give 1000% to the fun- but he can do that because at the end of the visit they go home and so does he- the peaceful life. Same Huey! Same! Totally get it! Invite the kids over, Huey will be a hit, then watch him take the most glorious nap in his cozy, peaceful home. Huey currently lives with 7 other dogs, he shares toys like a dream and is a great playmate. The key to him being in a home with other dogs is best seen in how the fosters manage one small element of their schedule- meal time. A very common and understandable behavior he has shown is that he does not like other dogs to attempt to eat his food. Same Huey! Same! This behavior is called resource guarding- food being the resource- guarding being him giving a clear boundary to another dog about what he has. The simple way his foster avoids this ever being an issue in a house full of dogs is by feeding him, and the others, in their crates and not offering treats or table food to any of the dogs. If you have experience with this type of behavior you know, it is easy to manage and can just as easily be a non-issue. On the other side, a one-dog household eliminates the potential for tension over meal time. You know what works for you and if he is your one and only you won’t go without- he has plenty of personality and love to give. The biggest thing to know is we want to set him up for success in a calm, structured home with someone who gets him. Mochi is magic in a bottle! He’s a happy go lucky pup with a heart of gold, and he’s ready for his forever home. We believe that Mochi is a Cur, Pittie mix, but he is a rescue so these are just our best guesses! Mochi has a stunning dark brindle coat. It’s giving expensive, sleek, and stylish! Make way for Mr. Mochi man! Sweet Mochi is estimated to be around 2 years old, and he currently weighs in at a lap-sized 66 pounds. You will enjoy all of those lbs of love when he climbs into your lap for his big bear hug. And you won’t even remember that he’s not a lap dog! The first thing you’ll notice about Mochi is how incredibly people-oriented he is. He greets each and every new face with a wagging tail and a big smile. He did perfectly in the car, sitting like a gentleman, waiting for you to turn around at the red lights to give him a nod and a “good boy Mochi!” Mochi sometimes gets a little excited on a leash, so he would be best with someone who can handle his wiggle butts and ready to go attitude! He LOVES everyone!! We know we already told you how amazing Mochi is in the car, but we really mean it! This quality really does just aid in making him a perfect adventure buddy. He enjoys his car rides in the back seat, watching the world go by while you drive. Mochi loves to accompany his foster family on shopping trips and Starbucks runs, and while he’s out- he’s absolutely spoiled by all who meet him. He’s just so handsome, and always so happy to meet new people- usually new humans will say something like “wow, what a beautiful coat!” followed shortly by “Wow! Thank you for the kisses, Mochi!” Mochi has learned that the compliments come freely and the treats come easy for a good boy like him. If your definition of “adventure” stretches past a trip to Target, fret not- Mochi is a total outdoorsman. This guy doesn’t mind puddles, ice, snow or steep climbs. The most treacherous hike couldn’t faze him. Mochi is both confident and trusting on leash, which makes him a perfect hiking companion. He has the stamina to join you for long excursions, and the car riding skills to join you in far away lands. He’s people-oriented enough to check in from time to time, making adventuring that much safer and more enjoyable. He’s a perfect camping/hiking/adventuring companion, through and through! When you get to that scenic overlook, Mochi will “sit” on command for that perfect picture, in exchange for a treat, of course! Speaking of treats, Mochi is super food motivated! This makes further training with him enjoyable and rewarding for both of you. He already sits on command for treats and he takes them gently. He also knows how to stay, he is such a good listener! His favorite treat is beef jerky, and yes, he did ask us to include this factoid in his bio! It is very important and relevant information for his future family to know. Mochi’s foster family does include two small dogs with a medium to low energy level. Mochi is firmly in the medium energy category, with legs that could run all day and a heart that could snuggle all night. Mochi loves to play with other dogs, and does play with his foster siblings, but is respectful when the other dogs are done playing, or don’t want to play. His lower energy friends keep him balanced, and for that reason we believe he would do best in a home with medium to low energy female dogs like his foster siblings. Mochi is so people-oriented that he could also thrive as a solo dog, soaking up all of your attention for himself. Mochi is a total toy lover too. He likes to carry his toys around in his mouth, and he has been reported to do so for up to a half hour at a time. It’s impossibly adorable. He also likes to pull his toys out of his toy box, one by one, doing a little “inventory” before deciding which is best. He’s also great at catching his toys in his mouth. He’s such a talented and happy boy! I was one of the lucky people able to play tug-of-war with Mochi, and of course he won. With a boy this cute you don’t even care when you lose a great battle, because you’ve already won just by being with him!!! Precious Mochi is so loving and happy, he will surely brighten any home. We would be remiss to not mention that Mochi is a total staff favorite! He’s described as “funny and cute,” by our behavior team lead, as “so happy” by one of our K9 Coaches, and as “an incredibly special boy,” by one of our adoption coordinators. Mochi is truly such a bright and special soul, and he has so many fans and friends already, but he’s ready for his forever home. Meet Sweet Ponderosa (aka Pondsy)! If pure sunshine, a dash of goofiness, and a sprinkle of “goodest boy energy” had a puppy, it would be Pondsy. This handsome, almost-2-year-old Shepherd/Lab mix weighs around 50 pounds, and every single one of them is packed with love, wiggles, and joy. He’s got a soft, shiny black coat that glows in the sun and big warm brown eyes that could melt anyone on the spot. When he sees his people, get ready—his signature Pondsy Wiggle kicks in, his tail goes into overdrive, and he plops right over for belly rubs like it’s his job. *Fostered in Port Angeles, WA* Fasten your seatbelts; this perfect little Jet is cleared for takeoff straight to your heart! Jet Travel is a mellow puppy who hopes to chill with his very own family soon. Jet is almost 6-months old, and we believe he may be a Hound x Labrador Retriever mix. But like all rescue pups, his true breed makeup is a mystery and nowhere near as important as his sweet, loving nature. He is very food motivated and clever, so training him is a delight! He is an absolute gentleman on a leash, never ever pulling, and he hopes you’ll let him stop and sniff along the way. A perfect mix of curiosity, thoughtfulness, and charm, Jet investigates everything and loves to explore the world around him. He takes correction beautifully; a simple “No” and he stops what he is doing. He just loves to be told he is a good boy! He eats up praise like peanut butter. Jet has been super quick at learning what things in the house are for chewing and what are not. Shoes are safe around this puppy, but bones and toys had better watch out! Raaaar. Jet has lived with teenage humans, puppies, and adult dogs. He gets along great with everyone! He loves to meet new people and get attention and pets from them. He is cautious about new situations and noises, gets courage from his loved ones, and is growing more confident every day. He takes lots of walks in his little city and courageously troops through the hustle and bustle, though he does prefer the quiet back streets and parks. He’s also beautifully behaved in the car – we forget he is even there. He loves to zoom around and wrestle with his foster siblings, chase pine cones and sticks in the yard, watch the neighborhood from his porch, or just chill out with everyone. This medium-low-energy boy takes lots of naps! And he is happy settling down and getting cozy with a good chew toy to work on. What he loves best is sharing the sofa with his person, leaning against them and sharing his warmth. Jet does howl/cry with joy when his foster mom comes home, though he does so less and less. Still, an apartment is not the best place for him. Remember that he is still a baby and will need a family ready to guide him through puppyhood with: - Routine and structure - Crate training (essential for energy management and building a well-rounded adult dog) - Socialization and positive experiences, so he continues to be a confident and happy pup He would just love to attend puppy classes! Meet Shana Grace (Gracie)! Shana Grace is an absolute doll—she has the most beautiful black and brown brindle coat, the softest puppy-dog eyes, and the cutest floppy ears that bounce when she walks! At around 4 years old, she’s ready to bring calm, love, and snuggles into her forever home. Gracie is believed to be a Lab / Plott Hound mix—but since she’s a rescue, we can’t make any promises. Her perfect day is a slow stroll in the yard, a cozy nap in a sunny spot, and then curling up right beside you for cuddles. She’s house-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and enjoys peaceful car rides where she can watch the world go by. She’s affectionate without being demanding, and she will happily give kisses to her foster sister—or to anyone she trusts. Gracie is a gentle, calm soul. She can be a little shy when meeting new dogs, but once she feels comfortable, she’s happy to relax nearby or slowly join in play on her terms. She has been around children and teenagers, and with her mellow temperament, she would likely be amazing with kids. She’s patient, gentle, and sweet, making her a perfect companion for a family who wants a calm, loving pup by their side. When it comes to cats, Gracie’s cat test was a little inconclusive because she was distracted and curious about everything else going on in the room. She did not show any signs of aggression, but until we can do a more thorough test, we just don’t know for sure. PLEASE REACH OUT TO THE OWNER DIRECTLY AT sarahmc@live.com FOR SHIO~~ Shio ("Salt" in Japanese), is a 4 year old super mutt (likely German Pointer). He weighs about 40 pounds and is up-to-date on his shots.  The good: Shio is an outstanding citizen in the house. He never goes potty inside, is crate trained, doesn't get into food/trash, and is respectful of furniture. He is obsessed with love and attention. Knows commands like sit, down, stay, leave it, spin, and jump. This guy loves exploring the outdoors, from the beach to the mountains.  Shio is great with our dog-savvy cat, but would likely need a slow introduction with a new cat. Shio does well with our dog, but he is dog reactive. Possibly with a very slow introduction, he could live with another dog. He can be very rambunctious, so a highly tolerant dog would be needed.  While Shio has been good with our 2 year old child, I would not recommend him with younger children as he can be nervous with their unpredictability.  His needs: He requires an experienced dog owner. With regular exposure and training, his dog-reactivity improves greatly. He can also be fearful of strangers and has shown protective behaviors (only at our home as he has made himself the "guard dog"), so he needs a home that has the ability to work on this with him. A fully fenced yard is also needed. He takes daily medication for anxiety and eats food designed for sensitive stomachs (Hills).  We are wanting to make the transition for Shio finding a new home as gentle as possible for him. We are willing to do multiple meet-and-greets, home visits, and slow transitions.  ##2585473##
