Story
Meet Lily! 🐾Breed: Black Lab MixAge: 3 years, 4 months old (Adult Female)Energy Level: Medium 🐕‍🦺Lily's StoryLily is a beautiful black Lab mix who has spent her life growing up right here at the Rescue Center. Because she has been here for a while, she is incredibly familiar with shelter life, but she is more than ready to discover what it truly feels like to have a cozy home and a family of her own.PersonalityLily is a tender, shy soul who just needs a little time to bloom. While she can be a bit reserved at first when meeting new people, once she warms up to you, she forms a deeply loyal and loving bond. She is an absolute sweetie who has so much love to give back to the person patient enough to earn her trust. One of her absolute favorite things in the world is going on walks! She is a wonderful walking companion who can't wait to explore the neighborhood with you.Home PreferencesBecause Lily has spent her life in a structured environment, she will thrive best in an adult-only home that can provide her with a predictable, calm routine. Her ideal setup includes:No Cats: Lily has a firm "no cats" policy.Dog Selective: She can be selective about her canine friends, so she would either love to be your one-and-only spoiled princess or will require a meet-and-greet with any potential dog siblings.Ready to help Lily start her next chapter? Story
Meet Moses: A Heart of Gold Looking for a HomeName: MosesAge: 2 Years, 6 MonthsBreed: Black Labrador RetrieverWeight: Small/MediumMoses is the kind of dog that reminds you why Labs are so beloved. He is a truly sweet boy who has spent the last 6 months at the shelter waiting for someone to notice his gentle soul. While he’s had a long stay, he hasn't let it dampen his love for people. His Signature Move:If you’re sitting down, Moses will find his way over and simply rest his heavy head on your lap or shoulder. He doesn't need to be the center of a chaotic party; he just wants to be near you, offering his quiet companionship and soaking up every pet you’re willing to give. The Perfect Environment:No Felines, Please: Moses has made it clear that he is not a fan of cats. He’ll need a feline-free home where he can relax without any whiskers in his personal space.Selectively Social: When it comes to other dogs, Moses can be a bit selective. He would likely be happiest as your one-and-only, or may be able to live with a very specific, calm canine sibling after a proper introduction.Devoted Companion: Because he is so people-focused, he is looking for a family that will appreciate his loyalty and give him the "inner circle" status he deserves. Why Adopt Moses? He has been at the rescue center for 200 days—that is 200 days too many for a dog this sweet. Moses is ready to trade his kennel for a real home where he can finally lay his head on a lap that belongs to him forever.Ready to be the person Moses has been waiting for? Moses is available for adoption and would love to show you his famous "head lean" in person! To adopt one of our animals please fill out an application here: https://form.jotform.com/243198707777170You can also stop by the Rescue Center during normal business hours - Tuesday thru Saturday from 10a-3pm

Story
Hi, my name is Chance and I'm about 1-1/2 years old.  I was rescued by Bond County Humane Society (BCHS) from Bond County Animal Control.  Me and another Labradoodle were running at large for a week and were taken in by Bond County Animal Control.  After spending the required 7 days at Animal Control we were released to BCHS.  I was severely matted when I arrived and was taken to a local groomer where I had to be shaved.  The groomer said I tolerated the shaving very well.  I am super friendly and playful.  I enjoy going for walks on leash.  I am very playful and like to play with any toy.  I get super excited when I get to meet new people. I am good with other dogs.  Initially I played with a puppy at the shelter and was very good even though the puppy was a menace and kept trying to grab my ears.  I don't know if I'm housetrained.   I am available for immediate adoption.  I am neutered, UTD on vaccinations, heartworm tested, treated for internal and external parasites and micro chipped.  My adoption fee is $300.  If you are interested in making me a member of your family please complete an Adoption Profile in person or on-line at www.bondcohumane.org.  Email the completed profile to the address provided.  A copy of our policy regarding warranties, refunds and returns is available upon request.June 9, 2026, 6:34 pm

Story
Crouton may be named after a crunchy little soup topping, but this boy is more like the whole meal. 🍲At just 8 months old, Crouton is still very much a puppy and all legs, wiggles, zoomies, and enthusiasm. We have him listed as a Pointer mix, but your guess is honestly as good as ours. Bird dog? Hound? A little pittie tossed in like the secret ingredient? Whatever the recipe, the end result is one seriously lovable dog.Crouton is the kind of pup that goes from full-speed backyard antics to melting directly into your lap like he’s convinced he’s actually 12 pounds. He is incredibly affectionate and loves leaning into pets, soaking up attention, and being wherever his people are. He has a goofy, happy personality that makes him hard not to love.Because he is still a young guy, Crouton will need a family ready for all the normal puppy things: continued training, structure, exercise, patience, and lots of positive outlets for that busy puppy brain. He would thrive with an active family that wants a sidekick for adventures, walks, playtime, and continued learning. He’s sweet, fun, affectionate, and just an all around good dude trying to figure out the world one zoomie at a time.If you’re interested in adopting Crouton, please fill out an application at effinghamcountyhumanesociety.orgHis adoption fee is $225 and includes his neuter, vaccines, microchip, deworming, flea/tick prevention, and heartworm prevention. Meet and greets are required for any potential canine siblings.
