Story
Say hey to Daric! Daric came to us after being found as a stray that was never claimed. We believe he was born in July of 2021. Since Daric came to us as a stray, we can not be sure who or what he has experience with, but we believe he would do well with most ages, and perhaps another dog his size that is female. We are not sure how he would do with a cat in his new home. Daric is a very sweet boy that loves attention, being around people or leaning against you while you sit together. He is very food motivated, and knows how to sit, shake, and lay down. Daric loves chewing on hard rubber toys, chasing a ball, climbing platforms, or running through tunnels! Daric may need a small refresher course on potty training when learning a new home and routine, but he does pretty well keeping a clean kennel here at the shelter. He is looking forward to finding his forever family! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only. If you have any questions feel free to send us an email at freeborncohumanesociety@gmail.com, send us a message on Facebook, or call or text 507-377-8501.

Ladies and Gentlemen - Domino "Never have to worry about what is worst or what is best" Oh oh Domino Domino was found as a stray and never claimed. He was born in March of 2022 - we think :) He is an 80 lb Lab mixed with an energetic goofball. He should be fine with older kids and adults. He isn't overly fond of the other dogs here, so he might do better as a single dog until he gets used to being in a home setting again. Domino also should be in a cat free home. Domino has a big personality and loves attention, he keeps a clean kennel here, so the transition to home should be easier. Domino really wants a home and a family. Will you come and make his dreams come true? All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. Lollipop, Lollipop - Oh Lolli Lolli Meet our sweet girl Lollipop. Lollipop came to us as a stray and was never claimed. We believe that Lollipop was born in September of 2022. She is very friendly and loves to stay by your side or in your lap. We believe Lollipop would do well with all ages and other animals with a proper introduction. Lollipop has a bunch of energy and would make an excellent companion for someone with an active lifestyle. Lollipop will need to learn the routine of a new household including potty training. She walks well on a leash, is treat motivated and always eager to play. Story
Velvet came to us with her 2 sisters from up north. Born in January 2024, she was the shy girl of the 3, but has really come out of her shell. She is a happy, beautiful young lady who would be great for a quiet home. Velvet loves to be petted and loved with lots of tummy rubs. She still is a bit shy around strangers, but gets over it quickly with positive interactions. She loves her sisters, so should be fine with other dogs with a proper introduction. Velvet would be a gentle sweet addition to any family. Come down and meet her! She will melt your heart! Story
Lola, L-O-L-A, Lola along with her 2 sisters came to us from a partner rescue group. Born in January 2024, Lola is the courageous leader of the trio. She is proving to be a quick learner of new places and new faces. She will eagerly request belly rubs and and quality time with her people. She was accustomed to the run of the land and will benefit from some early routine to adjust to being house trained. She is food motivated and has been working on "sit" and "lay down". Are you ready to make this show girl a part of your family forever? She sure hopes so! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. Story
Dutchess is a small lab mix girl who was abandoned by her owner. Born in July of 2023, she is a sweet, energetic bundle of joy. She is happy to see everyone, but needs some work on her manners. She rides well in the car and is good on a leash. She keeps a clean kennel here at the shelter, so we assume she was house trained in her former life. She would be a great choice for a family that has space for her to run and a bit of time to work with her on some training. Come and meet Dutchess - she is a wonderful girl! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped.
