Story
🌟 Meet Stella Stella is a beautiful 3.5-year-old Labrador mix weighing 49 pounds — the perfect medium size for just about any home. She is gentle, affectionate, and has the kind of calm, loving personality that makes everyone fall in love with her. For the past three years, Stella has been in a loving home where she’s shown what an exceptional dog she truly is. She is friendly, sweet, and incredibly well-mannered. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and people of all ages, making her an easy fit for a wide variety of households. Stella walks nicely on a leash, is polite and patient, and has a calm, balanced energy indoors. She enjoys being close to her people without being needy — happy to lounge beside you, soak up affection, or quietly keep you company. She is coming to Maine from Puerto Rico on the 22nd and will be ready for her forever home after a short decompression period to settle in and adjust to her new surroundings. She would thrive in a home looking for a loving, steady companion — whether that’s a family, a couple, or a solo adopter wanting a loyal best friend. Story
Meet Teddy, Described as `Pluto, from Disney,` this boy will be your best friend as soon as you aren`t a stranger. Then, once home, he`ll be so happy to see you, he`ll think about getting through the window! He has mastered several tricks, including `sit,` `stay,` `lay down,` `come,` `heel` `give paw` and `sit pretty.` Teddy will be best in a home without small animals, but he does enjoy the company of other dogs. We strongly suggest keeping him on leash at all times due to how high his prey drive is. This handsome gentleman is looking for a home willing to crate train because he can get into mischief when left to his own devices. Finally, we ask for a home with children 8 years of age and up due to his initial discomfort with meeting new people. If you are interested in adding Teddy to your family, please bring all human and canine family members to meet him.

Story
***Foster-to-adopt eligible***Meet Momo, Momo is a goofy, outgoing and social guy looking for a low to medium energy household with children 8 years old and up. . Don`t feel like getting dragged around on the other end of the leash? Momo is your guy. He likes to walk with you, or to happily follow his nose. Momo is also a fetch afficionado, he just doesn`t totally get the part where he has to bring the ball back to you to throw it again. Momo likes to please his person, but if you`re training with treats he can be a little rude at times, barking to tell you to give him the treat already! This handsome man is housetrained and hasn`t shown any separation anxiety in his previous home. He is the best boy looking to be the star animal of your home. If you are interested in meeting Momo, please bring all family members to meet him.

Story
Laika is officially up for adoption here in Maine! If you remember our post, she was the dog that came from the vet’s office. The office where her owner brought her to be euthanized because one of their cats was no longer with them because of her (unsure how involved she was). As a back story, she lived with 5 other dogs. She wasn’t brought out a whole lot, and based upon her behavior…no one ever spent any positive time with her. When she first arrived, she was TERRIFIED. She bolted every second there was a sound. She had a harness and super tight collar on for the first week she was with us. She cowered ALL THE TIME. Fast forward to today. She is spayed and up to date with shots. She is still very timid. She has connected with me, and looks for me. She wags the tip of her tail. She wiggles now and bounces. She looks at things instead of bolting. I can take her out with a slip lead. She cuddles. It is now time for her to have a real home. Us keeping her isn’t an option as she needs so much more than a rescue home can give her. She needs to be loved. She needs to know that there are still good people in the world. She needs someone who will walk with her or spend time in a secured yard. She needs someone that can just hang out with her, teach her. Other dogs are still touch and go. After what she has been through, it’s understandable. Because she is 2 years old, there is so much growth that can happen if someone puts the time in. Absolutely no cats, no small animals, no small dogs period. No aggression behavior towards people has been shown.

Story
Zeke is an 8 year old, who had a small dog companion until 2 years ago. He has developed anxiety like behaviors when he is home alone, particularly chewing. Zeke had crystals in his urine last April and the vet recommended a low protein, low phosphorus, low magnesium diet. He is now getting 1 cup dry food and 1 cup sweet potatoes and 1 cup rice twice a day. He has also been getting trazodone on the days no one is at home. He walks with a leash, enjoys being outside and is still playful, but the kids are in college and he is too much for me working full time.
