Story
This zoomy, toy loving boy loves all people he meets! He also loves kids and did well with them in the previous home. We are recommending rough and tumble kids because of his high excitement, no spatial awareness as well as puppy behaviors. Cash could benefit from one on one training such as "4 on the floor" meaning learning not to jump every time he see's someone. Cash is a super bouncy, smart, playful boy that leans into people for hugs and think's he's a lap dog. He knows most of his commands such as sit, give paw, stay and lay down. Cash is seeking his forever home with no other animals. If you are interested in meeting Cash, please come with all family members to KVHS during opening hours.

Meet Neo!He may enjoy being the only animal in his home, but don't let that stop you from checking him out! Neo is extremely smart and picks up on new things very quickly. He knows his name, sit, down, does well on leash, learning the start of heel, the "Find it" game with treats, and is always down to try and learn new tricks! He's very food motivated. Neo's ideal home would be an active family with children who are 10+ and one who is dedicated to continuing his training, helping him with his separation anxiety, and going on a lot of walks/adventures. He deeply enjoys being outside and using his nose to sniff around! Interested in meeting Neo? Swing on down with the whole family and ask about him!

Story
Meet Nico, Nico is a compact, people-loving, curious, adventurous young man looking for his next home. At 11 months old he is looking for someone to provide consistent boundaries to help him be the best boy he can be. He has lived in a home with children of all ages but we are recommending rough and tumble children for this young sir. For his new home, Nico asks that it not contain cats, but he is willing to meet potential dog siblings. Additionally, Nico will be most successful with a home the keeps him contained at all times using a leash/tie-out and no slip collar; Nico likes to take himself on adventures. If you are interested in meeting Nico, please stop by with all human and canine members of your household.

Story
Laika is officially up for adoption here in Maine! If you remember our post, she was the dog that came from the vet’s office. The office where her owner brought her to be euthanized because one of their cats was no longer with them because of her (unsure how involved she was). As a back story, she lived with 5 other dogs. She wasn’t brought out a whole lot, and based upon her behavior…no one ever spent any positive time with her. When she first arrived, she was TERRIFIED. She bolted every second there was a sound. She had a harness and super tight collar on for the first week she was with us. She cowered ALL THE TIME. Fast forward to today. She is spayed and up to date with shots. She is still very timid. She has connected with me, and looks for me. She wags the tip of her tail. She wiggles now and bounces. She looks at things instead of bolting. I can take her out with a slip lead. She cuddles. It is now time for her to have a real home. Us keeping her isn’t an option as she needs so much more than a rescue home can give her. She needs to be loved. She needs to know that there are still good people in the world. She needs someone who will walk with her or spend time in a secured yard. She needs someone that can just hang out with her, teach her. Other dogs are still touch and go. After what she has been through, it’s understandable. Because she is 2 years old, there is so much growth that can happen if someone puts the time in. Absolutely no cats, no small animals, no small dogs period. No aggression behavior towards people has been shown.

Hey! Sharky here! I know my name sounds a little intimidating, but I was named after Sparky on OG resident at the shelter because I looked so much like him. I am good with other dogs, and people, I LOVE meal time and my bed the most. I also enjoy going on walks in the field next to the shelter!
