Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Honey had a loving home for mosts of her life but her owner had a fall and was no longer able to care for her. She has been in one of our foster homes for 6 months and she is an "easy-keeper" She is a young 9 year old girl who is housetrained and walks ok on a leash. She is affectionate and would be a great choice for a low activity household.  She loves to go for walks and in the car but is also happy just hanging around.  She is slightly overweight but is on a consistent diet to get that under control.  She seems to enjoy her kennel mate, Slugger and we think she would be ok with a male dog of around her size and would do fine alone.  No cats or tiny dogs for this girl but you will fall in love with her.  She loves every person she meets and deserves her own home.  She is an a heated/air conditioned home kennel with her own run but she misses being around her person.  Please consider her- you won't be sorry. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 18, 2024, 9:50 am

Asher is a playful, bouncy boy with tons of energy! He would make an excellent hiking or jogging partner. We don't know his back story, as he came in as a stray, but he is one good boy! He could use some training to help him focus his energy, and he'd do best in a home where he can get tons of physical (as well as mental) exercise because he is one busy bee! Story
Capri is a gentle and loving girl. She can be found snoozing in the sunlight on these nice spring days. She doesn't quite know how she got here. But she is open to making friends. She tries to get your attention as you walk by her kennel by barking but it's just a hello bark. She enjoys having visitors. She is excited to be outside on walks and is fairly easy on her walker friends. She may have some hound genes.. loves to see and smell what is around her. She came in as a stray and no one came for her. We know she is 7 based on her microchip information. She weighs 68 pounds. She is the perfect size to cuddle up and watch tv with. Just in time for baseball season. She can't wait for afternoon baseball with the Orioles and her new best friend. Come and meet this sweet girl and help her figure out where her life goes from here. She will make a wonderful companion. Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 70.4 Age: 7yrs 1mths 2wks

Story
*looking for a low key household* Dog Name: Pau Pau Breed: Lab Mix Sex: Male Age: 8ish Weight: 60 Medical needs: Pau Pau is a distemper survivor. The disease can cause some long-term effect like scarring of the lungs. Due to this, his breathing sounds a little rough but he doesn't require medication. Will be be running any marathons? No! But he is content with short walks. Pau also used to weigh 114 pounds and his previous foster worked hard to get him to a healthier weight, so it's important that his adopter doesn't overfeed him. The thing about Pau is that he has a bottomless stomach and a nose for culinary delights, so you will have to put your foot down and offer him healthy snacks. Housebroken: Yes Crate trained: Yes. However, Pau can be crate/barrier reactive with new people, especially men. Good in the car: Yes Good on a leash: Ok, some light pulling Energy level: Medium Need a fenced in yard: No Dog Friendly: Yes, currently fostered with 3 other dogs and gets along with all of them If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No Cat Friendly? Unknown Kid Friendly: yes, he was previously fostered with young kids and is currently fostered with two teenagers. If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Due to potential reactivity (and since Ive never personally observed him around younger kids) I would recommend teens Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Pau knows sit, down and is currently working on the place command. He’s the perfect example that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks and eager to learn if it involves treats. Speaking of treats…. Pau Pau came to us from Texas where he was found as a stray weighing a whooping 114 pounds After a 1.5 year diet he is now down to 60ish pounds. That being said, he acts like a 4-legged vacuum cleaner and will try to snatch food if you're not careful. We’re looking for an experienced owner since Pau can be reactive when meeting new people. Meets are best done outside with some tasty treats. Once he warmed up to you, his tail never stops wagging. Literally NEVER. Fosters Location: Delmar, MD Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application Adoption Application | GRASS ROOTS RESCUE www.grrde.org (if you already have an approved application on file email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app ##1959787##
