🐾 Looking for a Special Home for a Special Dog 🐾 This is one of the hardest decisions we've had to make, but we are seeking a new home for our adult male dog. He's a beautiful soul who has been through a lot, and he needs a calm, experienced owner who can give him the structure, training, and environment he deserves. 🔸 About Him: Adult male, neutered Loyal, affectionate, and very bonded once he trusts you House-trained and crate-trained Scared of storms and loud noises ,he does best with a quiet routine Loves gentle companionship and calm humans 🔸 Why We're Rehoming: Main reason is allergies, our daughter has become highly allergic to him and Unfortunately, he has shown serious anxiety around other male dogs ,but does well with our female dog. We realize that he needs a home without SMALL children and without other male dogs, where he can decompress, be understood, and be safely supported.

Story
Hello, my name is Maverick. I am a very sweet guy who really likes to play. I am unusual looking (to say the least) but that just makes me more special. I do know a command or two, and will do just about anything for a treat, so teaching me new things should be a piece of cake. I would be so much fun but I really, really need someone who will teach me the ropes regarding housebroken. If interested, please fill out a preliminary at odas.org/canine and someone will contact you to schedule your visit.

Story
Have you ever looked back at some of the things you did as a teenage pup and just… cringe? Be kind to yourself—you were still learning. And so was I. Hi, I'm Ivy. I’m two and a half years old, and I’ve been at the shelter since I was nine months old. Why so long? Well, being a teenager is tough. Living with a teenager is tough. And being a teenager without a family of your own? Extra tough. I’m a smart, loving, energetic dog, and kennel life has never agreed with me. For a while, I got to stay in a foster home, and it helped me grow into a much happier, more balanced dog. Now I’m back at the shelter—just temporarily, I hope—and I’m ready to show off everything I’ve learned. I’m about 60 lbs, fully grown, and working hard at channeling my energy and intelligence. I’ve met cats and done well with them, I like to play with other dogs, I’m focused and friendly, and I LOVE to show off my tricks. I’m a total champ at “place” and “lie down.” Am I utterly flawless? Perfectly obedient? Unfailingly angelic? Heck no—and are YOU a perfect human? Learning is a lifelong thing for both dogs and people. I can still be a little socially awkward with dogs at first, though I enjoy them and get along once we figure each other out. And I still really struggle with the kennel environment, which is why I hope I won’t have to stay in it for long. The good news? My foster—and my friends at Purina Farms—believe in me so much that they’ve sponsored my adoption fee. I’m here at the shelter now, hoping to meet potential adopters as soon as possible. Please don’t wait—I’d much rather be practicing my tricks with you than spending time in a kennel. If you’re interested in meeting me, please fill out a preliminary application at odas.org/canine and someone will contact you to schedule a visit. I can’t wait to meet my person. 💚

Story
Wow! Kermit! Whadda guy! So friendly! So cute! Lookit that waggy tail! Lookit that soft coat! Wow, now isn't that a dog you'd like to take home with you? Is my subliminal messaging working? I'm not sure I'm doing it right. How about this: !timrek tpoda !yob doog a si timrek I dunno. Maybe it's just better to come right out with it: My name is Kermit, I'm three years old, and I really, really wanna go home with you. I'm housebroken, I LOVE walks and completely light up when I see a leash (and I'm an awesome walker, so I hope that means I'll get to go on lots of adventures with you!), and I'm toy-curious. I'm all about making new human friends and I love attention. I can be left alone in the house without misbehaving. Didn't I tell ya? I'm a good boy! I haven't had much experience with other animals, so I'm not sure yet what I'd think of them. If you have another dog, I'd love to meet them in the shelter and see how we get along before going home with them. If you have a cat, I can stop in and meet the office cats and see how I react. I do know that kids aren't my favorite. The reason I came back to the shelter was that, in my previous home, the neighbor kids would run through my yard and I wouldn't stop chasing them. Self-appointed neighborhood watch, I guess. So meditate on it. Think of a beach. Think of a cabin in the woods. And think of a mediumish (about 50 lb, but quite rotund at the moment) black dog named Kermit by your side. Let's make it a reality. My name is Kermit, I'm three years old, and I'm neutered, up to date on shots, and fully vetted. Please fill out the preliminary at odas.org/canine if you would like to visit Kermit and someone will contact you to schedule your visit.
