Story
Personality: Riggs may be a bit selective, but once you earn her trust, you'll have a loyal and devoted friend for life. She's a gentle soul who prefers the company of familiar faces and may take some time to warm up to new people. Riggs has a special affinity for females and tends to feel more comfortable around them. Despite her initial shyness, Riggs is a sweetheart who craves love and affection from those she trusts. Background: Riggs has had experience living with another dog, and while she can be choosy about her canine companions, she formed a strong bond with her previous housemate. Now, she's on the lookout for a forever home where she can find the same level of companionship and understanding.Special Considerations: Riggs is very dog selective and may not get along with every dog she meets. However, with proper introductions and time to acclimate, she may form lasting friendships with the right canine companion. Riggs is also a bit shy around new people, particularly males, so patience and understanding are key when building a relationship with her. She would do best in a home with older children who can respect her boundaries and give her the space she needs to feel comfortable. Riggs is strong and may pull during walks, so a confident handler who can manage her strength is essential. Additionally, Riggs is not fond of cats or small animals, so she would thrive in a home where she can be the only furry friend.Hobbies: Despite her shyness, Riggs enjoys going for walks and exploring the outdoors. She's a curious pup who loves to sniff around and take in all the sights and sounds of the neighborhood. Riggs also enjoys spending quality time with her favorite humans, whether it's cuddling up on the couch or playing with her favorite toys.If you are interested in adopting Riggs, please come and visit her during our open hours Thursday through Sunday 11a.m. to 3p.m.!

Story
Lila is a sweet and sociable canine companion with a heart as big as her love for bones. Lila's friendly nature makes her a joy to be around, but she does have some specific needs and preferences that potential adopters should be aware of.Lila enjoys the company of fellow canines and would thrive in a home with other doggie pals. Lila has a strong dislike for cats and would do best in a cat-free environment. Lila can feel overwhelmed by the energy and unpredictability of young children. Therefore, a home with older, more understanding children or adults would be preferable.Lila is well-versed in indoor etiquette and knows where to do her business. Lila may have a mischievous streak and occasionally indulge in exploring the trash. Proper management and training can help minimize this behavior. Lila is obedient and responsive, knowing basic commands that make communication and training easier.Lila is familiar and comfortable with crate training, which can provide her with a sense of security and routine. Lila has been known to test her boundaries and may escape fenced areas from time to time. Extra precautions and supervision are necessary to prevent this. Lila is a bone aficionado and delights in chewing and gnawing on her favorite treats. Lila is a social butterfly who welcomes new people with open paws and a wagging tail.If you are interested in adopting Lila, please come down during our open hours Thursday through Sunday 11a.m. to 3p.m.!

Story
Welcome Zara to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 1-year old Lab mix dog. She is about 40 pounds and looks like a good weight. She is decent on the leash and good with other dogs. She does do her business outside on a schedule here at the rescue. She is a little shy and when scared has the reflex to run. She would do best with a person or family that is more of a family that likes time at home and isn’t the type that has lots of social gatherings and wants their dog to go many places like Starbucks etc. She would be perfectly content being a companion for a more stay home family. She would be fine with children or a cat. She was with Sam here at the rescue which is the Rescue cat. She is fully vaccinated, spayed and healthy and ready for her forever home. She is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. She is currently in Texas at the CCPAL Rescue. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Online applications at www.ccpalrescue.org See her cute video!!
