Story
Delilah was transferred from an overcrowded facility to give her a better chance at finding her forever family. She is believed to be a Chocolate Lab/Shepherd mix, and is guessed to be around 4 years old. She has been discovered to be good with other dogs, cats, & is very friendly with people, including kids. Delilah is a sweet, playful, affectionate girl who is ready to meet her forever family! More info to come as we get to know her better. *Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again when you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopters must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone, so advise your references that there may be an unknown or private number calling them. Thank you!

Story
Say What?! This sweet, clever, affectionate girl has just about everything that you could want in a dog – she’s gorgeous (obviously! Look at those pics!), she’s smart, and her foster family describes her as “absolutely the perfect, loving dog.” She just chills in the house, sleeps in a crate all night, comes immediately when called, is wonderful in the car, and she even allows nail trims without a fuss. Her leash skills are improving with training and repetition. She will potty outside almost immediately when asked, if there’s a treat in your pocket. She’s very social with people on outings, too, and seems to love just about everyone she meets (well, maybe not squirrels or bunnies – she does have a bit of prey drive and likes to chase small critters). The only thing this beauty is lacking in her life is a canine companion to hang out with. She lived with a pair of dogs in her previous home, and seems to be somewhat anxious about being left alone without anyone to keep her company, so another friendly dog is at the top of her list of preferences for her future family. At just 1-2 years old, this pup is ready to spend the rest of her life with a family who can give her the love and commitment she needs and deserves, and who has the patience and time to help her work through her separation anxiety at her own pace. She is sure to make it worth the effort! Meet Apricity (her name means “the warmth of sunlight in winter”)! This gorgeous girl was abandoned and unlicensed, and she is ready to make a fresh start in a new home – a forever home! Believed to be a mix of primarily Labrador Retriever with a smidge of Beagle and possibly some other breeds as well, this sweetheart is approximately 1 year old and full-grown. She gets along well with other dogs she has met, and has been very affectionate with people, too. She already knows some basic commands and seems to be very smart. She is sure to attract a lot of attention, so don’t hesitate – this dreamy pup is going to be a real star for the lucky person who adopts her! *Apricity is now in foster care. Meet & Greets can be arranged for approved applicants. *Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit.
