Story
Meet Charlotte "Charlie"! 🩷 currently being fostered in Louisiana. We only bring dogs up to the Northeast when we have foster or adoptive homes. This means you do NOT get to meet the dog first. Yes, we understand this is a complete leap of faith and not for everyone, which is why we mention it. Born on January 1st, Charlie is the kind of dog who makes you wonder how you ever lived without her. Sweet, affectionate, and eager to please, she has never met a stranger—whether it's people, children, or other animals, Charlie's first thought is always, "Can we be friends?" She's an incredibly intelligent young girl who is already learning the basics of good manners. Charlie knows commands like sit, stay, down, come, leave it, drop it, and even adorable cues like cuddle! She happily waits for permission before eating, walks nicely when reminded to stay "with me," and is learning that furniture is only for invited guests. She's not perfect yet—she's still a puppy after all—but she loves praise and affection and thrives on positive reinforcement. With a little consistency, there's no doubt she'll continue to shine. All this training by Charlie's family was to potentially have her be a service dog for their special needs child - but unfortunately their son is allergic to the dogs salavia - and she loves to give kisses. Charlie's favorite things include splashing in ponds and lakes, chewing on a good bully stick, playing with her people, and, of course, snuggling. She's gentle by nature and has never shown aggression. Her biggest challenge is simply that she loves other dogs so much that she sometimes forgets they may not be as excited to play as she is! Like any growing puppy, Charlie is still teething, so keeping plenty of appropriate chew toys around will make everyone happy. She also gets a little carsick, so skipping a meal a few hours before a long drive helps her travel more comfortably. What truly sets Charlie apart is her temperament. She is calm, patient, incredibly people-focused, and eager to make her humans happy. We honestly believe she has the kind of personality that could excel in advanced obedience, therapy work, or even service dog training with the right family. She has the heart, the intelligence, and the desire to learn. If you're looking for a loyal best friend who will be your adventure buddy one minute and your cuddle partner the next, Charlie is ready to fill that role—and your heart. Could Charlie be the missing piece of your family? Most of our volunteers and professional help are located on Long Island, because of this we ask that potential adopters live within 60 miles of NYC. We want to be available to help if needed. If interested please visit our website at NYSRR.com to fill out our online application.

Story
We originally got him on Father's Day 2025. He was a few weeks old at that time, so he's a little over a year old now. He knows, and follows basic commands, even coming from my son. He doesn't run away or run-off, which is great as we live right in town and he has gotten off his leash a few times. He keeps himself contained to the yard and lets you put the collar back on him when approached, or comes in the door for a treat. He's done that, even since being a puppy. When he was a puppy, puppy, a few times he got off his leash, and he'd come to the front steps and just sit on the porch until someone noticed him and let him in. Around Christmas time, we put some bells on the front door, and then he started nosing them when he needed to go out. Most of his behaviors are typical for his breed. He loves swimming and fetch. He does pull a ton, when walking him around the block. He doesn't love being on a leash. In my opinion, he'd be happier living out in the country or a fenced yard.

Story
Don’t let her age fool you—this 45 pound 5-7 year old Labrador Retriever has plenty of pep in her step! This beautiful black Lab is the perfect combination of playful energy and affectionate companionship. Lady has never met a stranger. She greets everyone she meets with a wagging tail, a happy smile and hopes for a few extra belly rubs. Instant friends! She absolutely thrives around other dogs and would love a canine companion to romp around the yard with or simply relax beside after a day of fun. Whether she’s chasing a ball, exploring the outdoors, or leaning in for cuddles, Lady’s joyful personality shines through. She’s the kind of dog who brings happiness wherever she goes and has so much love to give. If you’re looking for a loyal best friend who is social, sweet, and full of life, Lady is ready to steal your heart. This girl is truly special. Lady is proof that you can be old enough to know how to love, and young enough to keep life full of adventure. Could she be the missing piece of your family? Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

Story
Clea is a 7-month-old mixed breed weighing around 21 pounds, and she has such a fun balance of playful puppy energy and easygoing downtime. She’s curious, loving, and always ready for playtime or a chance to climb into your lap for some affection. Clea is also great with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends around. Once the fun is over, she settles nicely in her crate and is perfectly content relaxing on her own. She’s already crate-trained and has a great foundation for an adopter who’s ready to keep helping her learn and grow. Clea is a sweet, social pup who brings plenty of joy without needing to be entertained every second. Approved adopters interested in Clean can email adopt@hbrdogs.com for more info. If you're not approved yet, apply today at hbrdogs.com.

Story
This girl has already done one of the most important jobs one can do, she lovingly raised her six beautiful puppies. Now it's finally her turn to be cared for, cherished, and loved. Chelsea is a gentle, affectionate girl who is still learning what it means to simply be someone's beloved companion. The world can feel overwhelming to her. Loud noises or raised voices can send her running to hide, and while some days she's brave enough to explore the house, other days she'd rather stay tucked safely under the bed. Healing isn't always a straight line, and Chelsea just needs someone willing to meet her where she is. She thrives with patience, kindness, and a gentle touch. Women are her comfort zone, while men can be intimidating at first. We've found that giving her space, sitting down instead of standing over her, and letting her approach on her own terms helps her build trust. This pup will happily follow her favorite person from room to room, soaking up every bit of attention she can get. Belly rubs, kisses, cuddle time, and naps curled up right beside you are her favorite things. Fair warning you may find yourself with a little less room on the couch or bed because Chelsea believes the closer, the better! Chelsea has endured far more than any pup ever should. Despite everything, she still has so much love to give. She just needs someone willing to show her that the scary days are behind her and that a lifetime of love is waiting ahead.
