Story
Bear was born on November 1st 2021 making him almost 5 years old! His mother is a Labradoodle and his father is a Chocolate Labrador. He is a big goofy strong boy!! He thinks he is still a little guy. He loves to have something in his mouth at all times.. he especially likes socks. He is a smart and loving dog who needs someone that can dedicate lots of time to him. He is protective and can be a lot to handle due to his strength. He has had to take anxiety medication when scheduled for a vet exam in the past due to exhibiting growling behaviors. He has been around lots of small children and comes from a home with 3 other dogs. He is intact.

Story
Meet Kyla, a sweet, playful girl who has the perfect balance of fun and relaxation. She loves playing with her foster dog sibling, entertaining herself with toys, and playing tug. She's also perfectly content to relax around the house, soak up affection, and enjoy being part of the family. Kyla is the perfect age for someone who wants the best of both worlds: she still has plenty of puppy energy but has left behind the teething, destructive chewing, and puppy mischief. Kyla is truly a well-rounded companion. She walks nicely on leash, isn't reactive to other dogs or people, and isn't much of a barker. She also sleeps soundly through the night in her crate. After spending 10 months in a shelter, she's quickly relearning her house manners. She's eager to please, learns fast, and has embraced the comforts of a home with enthusiasm. Meeting new people can make Kyla a little nervous at first, especially after spending so much of her life in a shelter. Calm introductions help her feel comfortable, and she typically warms up within an evening. Once she knows you're a friend, her affectionate personality shines through. If you're looking for a dog with the perfect balance of playful energy and easygoing companionship, Kyla is ready to leave her shelter days behind and start the next chapter of her life with a family of her own.

**All dogs are by appointment only, please inquire through Petfinder, Adopt-a-pet, Rescueme.org or e-mail us directly at shelter@hbpets.org for the dogs questionnaire*** ***Accepting applications, will be ready to go home after I have healed from my neuter, after 7/14/2026*** Hello my name is Calvin, I am between 2-3yrs old, soon to be neutered male, Labrador Mix, 70 pounds. I was a stray and arrived with Klein, so the team doesn't have any information from before. What they have learned is I am incredibly smart, sweet, eager to learn, easily trainable (I have learned sit, stay, leave-it and kennel), I love to go for walks, I am learning to walk on a leash. I like other dogs, but I have I have only had playdates with Klein, as we came in together. I am a gentle guy, with a fair amount of energy, I would love a home with a fenced yard, I don't realize my size, so I may not be for someone with mobility issues. The shelter team loves me, they say I am handsome, sweet, goofy and snuggly. My adoption fee is $250

Story
HI - I'M JOHNNY, a 10-year-old pit/lab mix waiting for a foster or forever home. I'm super cute with my red & white coloring and my speckled ears! My ideal adopter is a single person who wants a companion, a pal for hanging out, walks, hikes, watching TV, car rides, napping. I love to play fetch, and I listen to basic commands. I tend to bond to one person who will be my soulmate, so couples may not be the best for me because I don't want to share the person I bond with and love. I love scratches and affection! I get bored if left alone too long, so best not to leave me out in the backyard for hours. I'm still quite agile and have been known to jump over a fence in my younger days. I'm not all that trustworthy around other dogs, especially male dogs, so it's best if I'm the only dog in the home. I'm still in good health and I'm basically looking for my forever companion to go for walks or hikes or simply watch TV and snuggle. I weigh about 70 lbs. Can you foster or adopt me? Please email me for an application

Story
HI - I'M ROOTIE, and my story is a sad one. I was originally saved from a shelter many years ago, and just this past summer, I was rescued from a homeless encampment in Southern California. So now I'm safe, but I'm still a bit shy/timid in my new surroundings. I really need a home with a soft bed and a person or people to love me and be patient, while I get adjusted to being loved. I may take just a little bit to come out of my shell, as I'm nervous in new situations, but I deserve a wonderful home for once in my life. I'm 8 years old now, but in good health. I weigh about 60 lbs. Can you please foster or adopt me? I'm currently still in California but can be transported to Portland. Please email for a foster or adoption application.
