HI - I'M JOHNNY, a 10-year-old pit/lab mix waiting for a foster or forever home. I'm super cute with my red & white coloring and my speckled ears! My ideal adopter is a single person who wants a companion, a pal for hanging out, walks, hikes, watching TV, car rides, napping. I love to play fetch, and I listen to basic commands. I tend to bond to one person who will be my soulmate, so couples may not be the best for me because I don't want to share the person I bond with and love. I love scratches and affection! I get bored if left alone too long, so best not to leave me out in the backyard for hours. I'm still quite agile and have been known to jump over a fence in my younger days. I'm not all that trustworthy around other dogs, especially male dogs, so it's best if I'm the only dog in the home. I'm still in good health and I'm basically looking for my forever companion to go for walks or hikes or simply watch TV and snuggle. I weigh about 70 lbs. Can you foster or adopt me? HI - I'M ROOTIE, and my story is a sad one. I was originally saved from a shelter many years ago, and just this past summer, I was rescued from a homeless encampment in Southern California. So now I'm safe, but I'm still a bit shy/timid in my new surroundings. I really need a home with a soft bed and a person or people to love me and be patient, while I get adjusted to being loved. I may take just a little bit to come out of my shell, as I'm nervous in new situations, but I deserve a wonderful home for once in my life. I'm 8 years old now, but in good health. He was rescued from a California shelter in very rough shape - he had major skin issues/hair loss and had clearly been neglected, but now he looks so much better, and continues to be on good salmon food and supplements. He's appreciative of love and attention and is a very affectionate boy. Howie is a big snuggler and will want to share your bed! He loves going for walks and other outings. He is good with some dogs but not others, so would probably thrive as the only dog in the home, or with a submissive female. He's been waiting a long time for his own home, and we're hoping he can find a home by the end of the year. Howie currently needs a foster or forever home. MEET WINSTON, a handsome, chill, almost 3-year-old retriever-husky-lab-shepherd mix. Winston is a sweet, sweet boy with a calm, submissive energy. He gets along great with all dogs, and rarely barks (or howls!). With people, Winston is very sociable and affectionate, and he enjoys human companionship. He's not big on toys, but his happiness comes from being with his person. Winston is also great with children over the age of 12, possibly younger. He's never been around super young children, but he's very gentle, and loves to be petted by children on his walks. Winston was adopted about a year ago but is being returned by his owner because he gets over-excited when playing with the other young dog in the home. He likes to chew when he gets excited during play-time, but otherwise is not a chewer. As a result, Winston would thrive in a home with a mellower, calm dog that matches his energy. He would possibly do fine with cats due to his mellow temperament, but has not been tested with cats. Winston is house-trained, crate-trained and understands numerous commands, such as "sit" and "wait". He responds very well to positive reinforcement. Winston especially loves his walks and is exuberant and strong. His current caretaker currently uses a prong collar but that is definitely not a requirement. Winston weighs 55 lbs. currently. Finally, Winston is a chill dog who loves the couch and loves to snuggle. He will make a loyal companion and walking buddy for people who adore him. He would do best with someone who works from home, is retired or at least is home half of the day. And he will do well in an apartment or a house.
