Story
Hi there! My name is Blair and I was found in the City of Altoona as a stray and unfortunately, no one came to claim me. I am a sweet girl, but I am fearful and need a low traffic home with a family who will help to build my confidence and give me the reassurance that I need to realize that I am safe and loved. I will need an adult only home without other dogs, but I did test just fine with cats. I do have a bit of food possessive behavior, but this is easily managed by feeding me in my own space! Any visits with me do need to be scheduled in order to allow staff to provide me with the slow introductions I need in order to build trust. Please keep in mind that one visit will not be enough for me to be able to feel comfortable with anyone new and I will require multiple visits. If you think you have the time and can provide me with the proper environment, please feel free to submit an application for me or call in to speak with staff for more detail about me!

Story
Rain is a 4 year old, vaccinated and spayed Labrador Retriever mix looking for a home. She is true to her breed and looooves her food. She is not possessive over it but she could learn some boundaries on how to be calm around it. Due to that reason, she will only be placed with older children. She cannot live with cats or small breed dogs. She has shown to be picky with her large canine friends but we feel that the chaos and stress of the shelter is causing her behavior. With that said, it could take more than one visit for Rain to show appropriate behavior and let her guard down. She enjoys car rides and could use some help walking on the leash.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Bark Twain is fully vaccinated and neutered. He is about a year old. He is a large puppy who does not know what to do with himself. He would benefit greatly from a strong leader who will enforce boundaries as he is a lot of dog and has no manners. He wants to learn new things and please his person but it is going to take time and patience. He cannot live with cats. He is hit or miss with other dogs. He is a lot of energy and does not know how to settle so he can come off as annoying to certain dogs. Kids will need to be 10-12 years and older.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Ms Ruby is a wild puppy trapped in an adult dog body. She is a year old, almost 2. She was found roaming the country side in Tyrone. She is fully vaccinated and not yet spayed. She absolutely loves people. She cannot live with other animals. She enjoys being brushed and loved on. She seems rather confident at the shelter but when she went out on a canine cardio outing, she was rather fearful of new things. She was still her friendly self but you could tell she was scared. Due to her dislike towards other animals (as it has been shown to be intense) we recommend kids to be 10 years and older.

Story
Hello there my name is Kesha! I am a 7 year old lab retriever looking for my forever home! I have lots of energy and would love to go on walks to get rid of all that energy. I will need some time to work on walking on a leash. A harness would be best in addition with helping me learn some leash cues. I am very excitable so young kids who I can knock over and jump all over would not be best. I will not be able to live with other dogs or cats. Complete an application and come meet this pretty lady!

Story
Ms. Mia lights up the room wherever she goes! She is 8 years old. She did well with other dogs and cats. She is also overweight but not as bad as her friend Sophia. Mia wants to play and engage with you but it is short lived due to her not being used to the exercise. She has a bunch of open sores due to her chewing at herself, which are currently being treated. She will need children to be 10 years and older because of her love for food, as she does not care to share

This fun loving guy is Decker. He loves to play around with toys and balls. If you have a lap you better believe he'll be sitting in it, soaking up all the attention he can. He may sneak in a kiss or two while he's at it as well. He has a lot of energy in him, and is very smart. He can sit for treats, but will need some help with his other basic training skills. If you are interested in helping this handsome man find his furrever home, please feel free to apply at www.clearfieldcountyspca.org

Story
Malcolm is our longest available resident at BCHS. He came in as a stray on October 30th 2018. He does not show well in the kennel due to "kennel stress". Because of that we recommend meeting him in the side run instead. Malcolm requires a special home. He is a sweet boy but needs to meet new people on his own terms. Malcolm needs a person who is willing to come into the shelter multiple times to get to know him first. Malcolm also does not like men at all. This may seem like a lot, but it is necessary. If someone is willing to do this, we can assure you of a few things...Malcolm will keep you active, as he loves the outdoors. You will hear endless happy squeaks from squeaky toys, as he loves his toys (even if he does end up destroying them). If you are a fan of snow, he will be right beside you waiting for you to throw a snowball at him to catch, as he loves the snow as well. He also knows basic commands and loves going for car rides. Malcolm has a lot of love to give someone if they are patient with him. Staff here has grown to love this boy, and we want him to find his forever home with the right person. Malcolms ideal home is with a single female, while also being the only pet. We know this boy's perfect mom is out there somewhere we just need to find her. If you think Malcolm would be a great addition to your household, please apply or call for more information.

He is smart, sweet and so much fun. SHADOW is an incredibly loyal and endlessly affectionate kind of fellow. He loves new people and happily greets everyone he meets. This goofy boy loves to snuggle and lay his head in your hand or lap for pets, especially while laying in his favorite position, half on and half off the couch. Some of his other favorite things to do are chasing the water hose, hanging in the yard and romping around with other pups. SHADOW is the type of boy who can fit in with any pack. He will play and play with a pup who wants to play. At the same time, he is keen enough to know when pups just want to lounge around. He is good with that too. SHADOW loves other dogs and would benefit from sharing his home with another dog who could show him the ropes. SHADOW’s foster mom is a trainer and is teaching him tons of things. Besides learning his basic commands, SHADOW is becoming more efficient at placing (staying in one spot) and on his recall. He is also learning how to calmly and politely greet people. He rides well in the car and is good on a leash. SHADOW is an athletic dog who would be a perfect partner for someone who enjoys outdoor adventures. He is potty trained and stays in a crate when his foster family is not home. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! Story
Buddy is an inquisitive 5-year-old lab/hound mix. He absolutely loves to be outside, nose to the ground, exploring his surroundings. It takes some time for Buddy to get used to a person and he can be a really protective dog when it comes to those he is fond of. Once he gets to know you, Buddy loves to spend time with you. He is content to be around other dogs and loves to take a nap. He has the perfect energy balance of excitement when outside, but calm and quiet inside. Due to his protective nature, Buddy has a couple of biting incidents in his history. He would benefit from a force free trainer and leash training as well. If you think you can provide Buddy with a forever home, please reach out and contact Four Footed Friends at (724) 349-1144 or fourfootedfriends82@gmail.com.
