Story
Olive was guessed to be born June 16, 2017 by the southern shelter she came from.  We strongly feel she is younger and a birth year of 2019 or later is more appropriate.  Olive is shy at first and it's obvious she has not had a pleasant past.  Olive holds no grudges and is never aggressive and she is the quietest dog here.  Olive desperately wants to love you and will if given a bit of time and effort into winning her over.  Another confident dog in the home will help her tremendously.  We are suggesting older kids at this time because lots of noise and activity might be too much at first.  Olive rode well in the car on the long trip from Kentucky and isn't much of a barker which we love! Olive will need someone who understands it's going to take a little longer than normal to adjust but once she does she is going to be an amazing addition to your family. She has been leash walked and getting more confident all the time.  It's not that she pulls, she just likes to wrap herself around you - she really seems to have a happy fun loving spirit inside of her just waiting to burst out! The Adoption Fee for this dog is $350.00. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.   Can't Adopt Me?  SPONSOR ME Look for the Link 'Special Instructions to Seller' if you want to note a particular pet Before you seek to adopt a pet from Joyful Rescues, please read our Pet Adoption page http://www.joyfulrescues.org/pet_adoption.html. Story
Max entered the shelter as 5-6 years old so we gave him a birthdate of January 20, 2017 to be on the cautious side and he weighs 77 lbs.   On the first day here our staff described him as bursting with love!  He ended up at the high kill shelter in KY due to a divorce - how sad.  He made his way here to NY with a team of one hour at a time volunteer drivers - thank you drivers!  Here is a note from his halfway overnight foster:  I just love this guy, he is  a gem..  Max was playful with me and he loved the Kong toy I had for him almost as much as his fox toy that he traveled with.   He slept quietly in his crate all night and didn't even make noise when he heard me get up on Saturday morning -- just waited patiently.  He seems to be a very sweet, well-adjusted boy.  He rode beautifully in the car and happily jumped up when his fox toy went in first.  Update:  To the lucky person that read this far - ok, he's older and you may only have him for another 5-7 years or more if you are and he are luck, but I'm telling you that you are going to love this dog more in those years than you ever could a pup. The Adoption Fee for this dog is $_500.00_______. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. Story
Ava was born about February 2, 2021 and weighs about 85-90 pounds..  She came to us from KY as a Lab X, but we truly feel we see Dane is this large, leggy, girl.  The one hour at a time transport team said she did well in the cars and the family that overnighted her halfway said she was a pleasure.  We are told she was found stray in KY....likely whomever took in this adorable puppy didn't realize how big she was going to get - we like BIG and know we'll find the perfect home for Ava!  She is absolutely wonderful with the other dogs and she does well on leash.  We feel she will do well with kids and it's likely cats won't be a problem either.  Ava is more on the relaxed side and not a big barker which we love.  When we are in the fenced area she walks quietly by my side and she adores being touched along the way as my hand is the perfect height for her back.  She will wade in the pond, but not a swimmer.  In the evenings Ava enjoys watching a little TV and being near her foster parents.  We'll be excited to hear from the lucky person that finds Ava on our site as they will have a lot to love!!!  Ava has a really pretty face and we hope the photos do her justice. Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Jordan Jeep was born about March 15, 2021 and came to us weighing 76 lbs. Which may be a bit underweight, but with his condition he must never become obese.  Jordan Jeep was found wandering in one of our local volunteer's yard and they were able to contain him in their fence. Dog control picked him up for the waiting time needed, but no owner appeared so JR agreed to take him.  When Jordan arrived at Joyful we immediately realized something was wrong with his back end.  We sent him off to Haskell Valley for rays and neutering.  It is Dr. Dahar's opinion that Jordan was hit by a car and likely rolled about 2 months ago.  His pelvis was fractured and has healed somewhat folded in on itself (think of butterfly wings) some and is completely healed in that position and he is walking accommodating this oddity.  There is a fractured dorsal at the beginning of the tail with the small piece 'floating' around nearby and the very tip of his pinele bone is the same way - the very tip is not attached which would only hurt if he tried to use it and now that we've also neutered him that won't be a problem.  (sorry, Jordan)  These were the only injuries and all leg bones remained intact except there is some scaring/missing fur probably from lacerations. We were told that at this time he is what he is and his new owners simply need to watch out for signs of arthritis as he ages and medicate appropriately.  Most of us have to do this with any of our pets, but he will likely need care at an earlier age than average.   So, this is Jordan and with his loving, snuggly, get-along with everyone kind of personality we know we can find him just the right home that will be willing to provide anti-inflammatory care as he ages.  Jordan is good in the car and he is fine on leash once he gets going and until he gets distracted and forgets you are attached.....so for this reason we are looking for humans that are not on the petite side.  He is just wonderful with all the other dogs.   The Adoption Fee for this dog is $_350.00__. Story
Odin was born about August 28, 2019, and weighs about 40lbs.  He is a perfect size and so far from what we've observed a perfect guest.  He is wonderful with all the other dogs here and very comfortable.  Odin is good on a leash and he's great in the car.  If he is off leash he will hang with you while you do your outside chores.  We were told he has separation anxiety so he'd like his humans home much of the time.  We haven't seen this behavior, but there are humans here all the time and other dogs.  Odin is loving and affectionate and he'd like this in his next home because it wasn't really a thing in his last home.....  He is fine with children of all ages.   The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. Story
Bear and his brother were born around March 13, 2022 and might top out in the 60-65 pound range.  These two handsome boys are a result of an accidental litter between mom, a yellow lab, and dad, a husky.  Their humans called Joyful Rescues when they realized they were in over their heads with too many dogs.  Please remember we do not adopt siblings out together and if you are wondering why we recommend Googling "Sibling Syndrome".  Both boys love road trips and walk well on a leash.  We are told both are nicely housetrained, and good with other dogs, cats, kids, turkeys, and even chickens! They also love toys and cuddling after a day of fun.  They have been somewhat shy of us new humans but it's a big change for them.  The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations.
