Story
Starr was born around February 5, 2022, and weighs about 120 pounds.  Starr is a bit overweight at the moment, but we expect her to lose 10-15 pounds rather quickly with all the activity here. Starr is very tall for a regular lab, so we have to wonder if some Great Dane might be mixed in her genes somewhere.  Starr is an absolute rockstar who is just about perfect!  Starr does wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and even parrots!  Star rides beautifully in the car and walks nicely on a leash.  At first, Starr struggled with feeling worthy of love and attention, but has quickly learned that we all adore her and she deserves the best.  Starr immediately jumped into the pond on her first day here, and we are thrilled she enjoys swimming.    The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. Story
Coco was born about February 27, 2023 and weighs about 60 lbs. Based on his physical characteristics he appears to be a retriever sort of mix, but he came from Puerto Rico and when the PR dogs are DNA'd they come back with a myriad of breed mixes!  While watching Coco run like the wind, we realized he seems to have the speed, form and tucked in abdomen of a Greyhound - just guess work on our part.  We adopted Coco to an elderly couple who realized they should have adopted a smaller dog and, sadly, he had a bit of a fetish for the neighboring rooster so no live poultry in Coco's next life.  Coco is very curious and is happy to follow you around and learn all sorts of new things. When it is time to relax in the evening he looks for the nearest lap to snuggle and snooze, size doesn't matter to him.  Coco is a very strong swimmer and jumps right in!  He was a frequent visitor to the dog parks around Rochester and always had a blast with the other dogs and he surely is a fast runner!  Coco is wonderfully house trained and was crated when left alone when younger, but lately no crate was needed but they still had to be sure their shoes were picked up.  Coco is fine on leash, but may pull some at times especially when he sees something....like a rooster or squirrel.  He does fine on car rides, and he sleeps beautifully during the night.  He is a love everyone kind of guy and he loved the grandkids, but when excited to see them, he was a bit too bouncy.  His human dad would create some of his meals and he loves to eat a variety of fruits and veggies.  Coco will destroy stuffed toys pretty quickly, but he did enjoy peanut butter in Kong type toys.  All in all, we know a lot about him now and he is a very good boy! The Adoption Fee for this dog is $__500.00_____. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. Story
Martin was born around January 25, 2023, and is a big boy who might top out in the 85-90 pound range when done filling out.  Martin found himself in a basement in Niagara Falls, and when the owner could no longer care for him (the same one who told us he was a female) we stepped in to help.  He rode well in the car for the 2-hour ride to the rescue. Even resting his muzzle in our hands, as if he seemed to realize that life was about to get leaps and bounds better.  He will need work on a leash and is VERY strong. We have started the process, but you will likely have more work to do in that area.  He has done beautifully with the other dogs here and really enjoys romping and playing.  No small kids for this bouncy boy as they would likely get tipped over.  It's going to take some fine-tuning, but with patience and love, you're going to have an incredible new family member! UPDATE: Martin has learned he loves to swim!  The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. Story
My name is Bear and I arrived at the shelter as a lost and found dog with my son Diesel. I am a chocolate lab who came in with some very bad skin...I was missing a lot of my fur and I was looking pretty rough and my ears were infected. I was one hot mess!!! Happy to say the shelter staff have been taking good care of me and my skin is greatly improving. I am a very happy guy...obviously love my son Diesel - we are soooo connected! We are a bonded pair and we need to be adopted together.
