Story
Luna was born about September 17, 2024 and will weigh about 55 pounds when filled out.  It was a very sad day when her family received word that the owner of their rental had passed away and the house was going up for sale and they were forced to move.  The tried and had friends try to find a new place for the family and 2 dogs but no vacant rentals were to be found.  We welcomed Luna to Joyful Rescues and she was wonderful with the other like sized dog she lived with and the cats and she were good snuggle friends.  The kids were as young as 2 and she was always wonderful with them.  She is house trained, enjoys car rides and loves to go for walks on leash which she does well with.  Due to her possible Husky heritage she should have a fenced yard or be leashed.  This pretty blonde girl is here through no fault of her own and we hope to find her another home, a forever home, soon. The Adoption Fee for this dog is $  500.00__. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. Story
Coco was born about February 27, 2023 and weighs about 60 lbs. Based on his physical characteristics he appears to be a retriever sort of mix, but he came from Puerto Rico and when the PR dogs are DNA'd they come back with a myriad of breed mixes!  While watching Coco run like the wind, we realized he seems to have the speed, form and tucked in abdomen of a Greyhound - just guess work on our part.  We adopted Coco to an elderly couple who realized they should have adopted a smaller dog.  Coco is very curious and is happy to follow you around and learn all sorts of new things. When it is time to relax in the evening he looks for the nearest lap to snuggle and snooze, size doesn't matter to him.  Coco is a very strong swimmer and jumps right in!  He was a frequent visitor to the dog parks around Rochester and always had a blast with the other dogs!  Coco is wonderfully house trained and was crated when left alone when younger, but lately no crate was needed but they still had to be sure their shoes were picked up.  Coco is fine on leash, but may pull some at times especially when he sees something like a rooster or squirrel.  He does fine on car rides, and he sleeps beautifully during the night.  He is a love everyone kind of guy and he loved the grandkids, but when excited to see them, he was a bit too bouncy.  His human dad would create some of his meals and he loves to eat a variety of fruits and veggies.  Coco will destroy stuffed toys pretty quickly, but he does enjoy peanut butter in Kong type toys.  All in all, we know a lot about him now and he is a very good boy! The Adoption Fee for this dog is $__300.00_____. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. Story
Meet Sebastian, a big, handsome hunk of dog with an even bigger heart. This gentle giant has a presence that turns heads, but it’s his sweet, soulful personality that really steals the show. He’s the kind of dog who leans into you for love, soaking up attention like it’s his favorite hobby. Sebastian enjoys the simple pleasures in life: a good walk to stretch his long legs, time to play and burn off some energy, and then a nice cozy spot to relax and be close to his people. He’s affectionate, loyal, and thrives on companionship, making him a wonderful partner for someone looking for a devoted best friend. Because of his size, Sebastian would do best with a family ready to embrace life with a big dog—one who understands that “lap dog” is a state of mind, not a size requirement.

Story
My name is Olaf and I am a young guy about a year and a half and I am a Lab/Husky/Shep mix. I arrived at the shelter as part of a neglect case, so I am underweight ....but staff are working to help me gain weight and learn what it means to have people who really care about me. I am looking forward to a new leash on life....where I am loved and properly cared for...I am ready to forget the past and start a new chapter in my life.
