LAB MIX AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION Ozzy came to Kiko a short time ago after his owner passed away. He was adopted in July, but it wasn’t the right fit and he was recently returned to our care. Ozzy is 3 years old, mostly Lab with some Poodle we’re told, and weighs about 65 pounds. He’s housetrained and can be left loose when his people go to work. Ozzy is calm in the house and enjoys hanging out with his people. He loves playing fetch (a lot!), so a fenced backyard for safe playtime is a must. Ozzy would be a great hiking or running companion, and he’s also a perfect passenger in the car. Ozzy’s ideal adopter could be a single, couple or family with children aged 14 and up. He has lived with other dogs and a cat, but he also wouldn’t mind getting all the love and attention himself. Chanito made huge progress. He barks at some dogs; sometimes he ignores them. Other Dogs: Prefers to be the only dog Cats: No Kids: Yes, toddlers and over. Our home is often full of people, with regular coming and going. Chanito loves company and is a very social dog. He appreciates having a routine but our life is sometimes unpredictable to which Chanito adjusts very well. ________________________________________ About Chanito Chanito is a very sweet, loving, and sensitive boy who forms a deep bond with his person. Once he feels safe, he becomes incredibly attentive and affectionate, always happiest when he’s near you. He truly enjoys being pet, always asking for some more by putting his paw on you, and will happily settle beside you for a quiet evening once he’s comfortable. In the home, Chanito is calm and well-mannered. He doesn’t bark unnecessarily and is respectful of boundaries. While he may occasionally test whether the couch is fair game, he quickly learns the house rules and sticks to them. Currently, he’s perfectly content relaxing on his designated futon. He sleeps peacefully through the night on his dog bed, pillow or on our old bean bag. He sleeps by himself downstairs while the rest of the family sleeps upstairs. He: • Sits politely for food • Responds well to “no” • Learns quickly with treats and positive reinforcement He thrives with structure and consistency, and his gentle, sensitive nature means he responds best to kind guidance. ________________________________________ Activity & Exercise Chanito has a medium energy level and enjoys his daily walks—especially keeping an eye out for squirrels! He is not high-strung and doesn’t require excessive exercise. • 1–2 short walks and one long walk (40-45 minutes) per day He also enjoys simple enrichment like: • Bully sticks • Beef bones • Edible chews • Raw carrots • Dog cookies ________________________________________ Meals & Feeding Chanito is used to two meals per day: Morning: • 2/3 cup kibble mixed with chicken or beef broth Dinner (rotated options): • 2/3 cup kibble with sardines • 2/3 cup kibble with broth • Cooked raw dog meat with white rice • Sardines with white rice Although he likes eggs, it gives him a lot of flatulence so we reduced his egg intake. His strong food motivation makes routine and positive reinforcement easy to maintain. ________________________________________ Separation & Sensitivity Chanito feels most secure when his person is nearby. He may follow you from room to room—especially around mealtimes or walk times—but otherwise settles quietly. Chanito is able to stay home alone for short periods of time (2-3 hours) without destroying anything. Because he is sensitive, Chanito may need a short adjustment period in a new home.
