Story
Hi, my name is Buddy and I’m looking for a family in Montreal or Ottawa to give me the wonderful life that I deserve. I’ve been through a lot in my short life and I’d like to tell you about my story. It starts with some very nice people finding me on the streets before the hurricane. They took care of me in their house and it was nice and dry and safe. They called me Buddy because I was their friend. If I had an owner in the area they couldn’t be found, we walked up and down the streets but no one knew me. They think I was someone’s pet once and that I couldn’t have been a street dog for long, but can’t know for sure. I am about 2 or 3 years old and fully housetrained. I’m a quiet dog and just like to go for walks and relax with my people. I am good with cats and other dogs, and though I have not been around children, I may like them also. A nice lady Heather came and took me to a lovely place with lots of other dogs but I was not happy; I need a home to live in. I’m looking for a place with a fully fenced yard to be sure I don’t get out of the yard and get lost. I walk well on leash and am not afraid of loud noises but would like a quiet place to decompress. I have a lovely foster in Puerto Morelos until I hope I find a good home where I can be a happy, quiet and loving dog for a nice family. They say I am sweet as sugar. Please if you have a space for me in your home; I will be the best boy. Buddy comes fully vaccinated, sterilised, dewormed and microchipped. Sometimes a dog takes a little more time to open up, you may see them showing more and more of their personality over the course of the first few days, weeks or even months! We don’t know all that they’ve been through before they were rescued, but they are so forgiving and full of love and it’s worth every tough moment in the end. Developing a trusting relationship with your rescue dog is the most important thing. Stability, patience, positive reinforcement and love are the most important things!

Story
Esperanza is yellow lab mix who will be 1 year old at the beginning of December. She was found with her siblings in a box covered in fleas at 5 weeks old. She is a typical lab type dog, she can be calm or she can be playful, and overall is a happy go lucky lab. She will come when you sing her song because she adores love and attention. She is ok on leash and can be easily trained to walk well. She is full of energy, very attentive, a big cuddle bug and eager to listen and learn. At bedtime when she’s done, she will walk herself to bed and sleep through the night. She is nervous with new people but warms up quickly. She is a lab mix, so she is very food motivated, so she will sit close when you’re eating but remains respectful around food. She has no resource guarding food issues. She was nursed back to health and fostered with 6-10 other dogs of all different ages sizes. Has never met a cat. Very trainable, highly food motivated. Esperanza is very good with other dogs and weighs about 20 – 30 pounds but she’s still growing. She is fully vaccinated, sterilised, dewormed and microchipped. Story
Milo is a super sweet & calm (almost 7 year old) male black Lab. mix. He was rescued when he was younger from the streets after he’d been hit by a car. After his operation & rehabilitation, he was back to being mobile, how ever, there was irreparable damage to his left hip. He was then adopted out to a family by the local SPCA but unfortunately the family didn’t follow the vets orders of keeping him active and weren’t in a place to properly help Milo to maintain and improve his hip issue. He’s thankfully currently in no pain but that may change with age. He is missing a part of the hip joint on the left side, but the muscles have been holding everything together for him, so he walks distinctly (we call it his ‘wiggle’), but is fully mobile. It’s very important that he maintain a steady leaner weight, to help avoid extra pressure on his joints and bones. He will need Flexadin long term, and is currently on CBD oil; it has been helping him. The vet recommends physio to help with his flexibility, swimming if possible (although he is not a great fan of water), as it’s the best exercise for mobility. He should not go for runs but must have daily walks at a steady pace. Don’t let his prognosis fool you because he has no idea that he’s different in any way. He adores every person, dog, cat and child that he meets. He’s a typical Lab. in the sense that he’s pure love and silliness and loves his food! Milo is a very sweet dog who is calm with a low energy level. He weighs about 70 pounds and is a very polite boy. He shouldn’t be with young children who can pull or lean on him and possibly and accidentally hurt him. For that same reason, we prefer that he be in a home that does not have too many stairs. Milo is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and sterilized and will come with his medical booklet.
