Story
Have you been endlessly scrolling adoption sites in search of the most wonderful girl to join your family? Well...as the 80's band Survivor once sang, "the search is oooover"...meet Trudy! Trudy is a 3ish year old Black Lab mix and weighs in at a healthy 62 lbs. She found herself at a Louisiana shelter around the Holidays and through no fault of her own (just by being a large black dog in a crowded public shelter), Trudy was in danger of being put to sleep. She charmed shelter volunteers with her sweet and calm personality, and she was saved instead! Trudy has been doing great in foster care and is now ready for a home of her own. She is friendly with other dogs and cats. Trudy's foster mom says, "Her favorite activities are binge watching your favorite shows with you, snuggling in her cuddler bed, rolling around on her back with her paws in the air, following you to see if she can "help" in any way and last but not least...mealtime (or treat time)...she loves food! She gets along great with her 2 foster dog sisters and enjoys hanging out with them. We have not seen her around small children. She's a sensitive and gentle soul and was a little shy when she first arrived but she shows us a little more of her playful personality each day. Her big brown eyes will melt your heart. She mostly loves hanging out with her people inside, but she does enjoy laying out in the grass and soaking up the sun when it's nice outside. If no fence, she would need to be leash walked. She has done great with housetraining. We take her out regularly but if she needs to go, she will sometimes go to the door or pace around. She knows how to use a doggie door. She's not an active dog but has tiny bursts where she'll play with her toys or try to get our dogs to play. She is good in a crate and stays in one when we are away from home. She's a wonderful girl who just wants to love and be loved! " Trudy's album with more photos + video clips: https://photos.app.goo.gl/HVVChmLt9n8yhLLJA. You may have to copy and paste the link into your browser. Trudy is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and current on heartworm/flea/tick prevention and deworming. Upon rescue, she did test positive for heartworm but has gone through treatment and as of late March 2026, Trudy will be heartworm free! All this sweet girl needs now is a home! Trudy is currently in foster care in North Louisiana, but we welcome out of state adoptions. We have an amazing transport that delivers all along the East Coast... PA, NJ, CT, NY, VT. PAWS of NE LA was formed back in 2003, and we have been sending our special Southern dogs to wonderful homes up North since 2010.

Story
Mary Margaret was hit by a car and left for dead. She then entered a kill shelter where she dragged her leg and then soon found herself on a euthanasia list. Healthy doggies have a tough time exiting the shelter let alone one that will need major surgeries and no guarantee she will walk again. She is a pro at the wheelchair she has now. She is so happy go lucky and has no idea her back legs don't work like they should. She is just happy to be alive. We have some amazing videos of her playing with kids and doggies. Transportation is available for approved out of state adopters.
