Story
If we were building the perfect family dog from scratch, we'd probably end up with Chickie Nugget. Gentle? Check. Sweet with little kids? Absolutely. Easy to live with? Without a doubt. She's the kind of dog that doesn't need to be the life of the party to steal your heart. Instead, she quietly becomes everyone's favorite. The dog the kids curl up next to during movie night. The one happily following everyone from room to room just because she likes being part of whatever's going on. The one who somehow makes a house feel even more like home. Her foster told us her favorite thing about Chickie is how amazing she is with her children, and honestly... we think that says everything you need to know about this girl. Watch Chickie's video and get ready to meet the dog every family wishes they had found sooner: Chickie Nugget is believed to be approximately 2 years old and currently weighs about 63 pounds. As with any rescue dog, her exact breed is always a mystery, but our best guess is a Lab and German Shepherd mix. Whatever combination created her also gave her approximately three miles of legs. She's wonderfully lanky, adorably awkward at times, and somehow manages to make being all legs one of her cutest features. The very first thing you'll notice about Chickie is how gentle she is. She doesn't come barreling into a room demanding attention or bouncing off the walls looking for something to do. Instead, she has this calm, peaceful presence that instantly makes you feel comfortable around her. She enjoys being close to her people, happily tags along for whatever the day has planned, and is perfectly content simply existing alongside the people she loves. She's currently fostered with two children, ages 1 and 6, and it's honestly hard to imagine a dog better suited for family life. Her foster says Chickie adores the kids. She snuggles with them, is incredibly gentle around them, and seems to instinctively understand that little humans deserve extra patience. Watching her interact with them, it's hard not to feel like this is exactly what she was made for. If you're searching for a true family companion, not just a dog who tolerates kids, but one who genuinely enjoys being part of the family. Chickie checks every box. She also gets along with other dogs, though she's a bit more selective about the type of friendships she enjoys. She's fostered with a large male German Shepherd, and most days you'll find the two of them lounging together or cuddled up for a nap. Every now and then they'll head outside for a relaxed game of chase, but neither one feels the need to wrestle for hours or play nonstop. Chickie has also been around 4-month-old foster puppies and has done beautifully with them. While she's absolutely dog friendly, she isn't the type to rush into every interaction expecting a new best friend. She appreciates respectful introductions and naturally gravitates toward calmer dogs with similar energy. If there were another dog in her future home, we'd love for it to be an easygoing companion like herself. That said, she certainly doesn't need another dog to be happy. She'd be more than content soaking up every ounce of attention as your one and only. Chickie also met our house cat Biggie and met him appropriately and was very respectful around him. She did not chase Biggie, nor was she bothered by Biggie jumping or doing what cats do. Biggie also felt comfortable around her as well. We do not know if she has ever lived in a home before with a cat and this was our first time seeing her with a cat. If you have a cat in the home, we can arrange for her to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know! Chickie has wonderful house manners and is considered fully potty trained in her foster home. Like most dogs, she may need a little reminder when adjusting to a brand-new environment, but once she knows the routine, she catches on quickly. She also takes treats with the gentlest mouth and has recently started discovering that toys can actually be pretty fun. Balls seem to be earning a spot at the top of her favorites list. One thing to know is that Chickie isn't exactly shy about sharing her opinions when she's in a crate. Her foster uses an Alcatraz-style kennel because she's clever and would much rather be out with her family than behind closed doors. Because she can be vocal when kenneled, we don't think apartment living would be the best fit for her. We think Chickie would be happiest in a home with a backyard and a tall fence or somewhere with a little more room to roam, similar to the country setting she's enjoying in foster care. She isn't a high-energy dog, but she does enjoy stretching those long legs, taking leisurely neighborhood walks, riding in the car, and spending time outside before coming back in to relax with her people. Chickie Nugget isn't flashy. She isn't the dog doing backflips to get your attention. She's something even better. She's steady. Gentle. Kind. The kind of dog that fits so naturally into family life that before long, it feels like she's always been there. And if you ask us, those are the dogs that end up being the once-in-a-lifetime ones. We are willing to test Chickie Nugget with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Story
Welcome QT to CCPAL Rescue. Pronounced “cutie”. She is a Lab/Terrier. She is 8 months old and weighs about 60 pounds. She is a great weight and has a nice athletic body. She was found as a stray at a gas station here in Texas. She is very friendly and social. She likes all people and is not shy or reserved around strangers. She would be a great dog to run, jog, hike or any outdoor activity. She knows sit and is good on a leash. She definitely had an owner but now finds herself in need of a new home. She would be fine in a family with children. We like them to be 8 or older. She would be best with a family that is moderately active or highly active. She would love to join an athletic family that wants a fun social companion to join in the fun. She has a lower coat and lower on the shed scale. She is getting all her vaccinations and will be spayed soon and looking for her forever home. She is a gorgeous taupe color and has beautiful eyes. She is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Story
Meet Martini! 🍸🐾 Martini is an approximately 10-week-old Lab mix with a fun-loving personality and a bright future ahead of her. She's already crate trained and knows how to use a doggie door, making her an impressive little pup for her age! While she hasn't been introduced to cats or young children yet, we anticipate she would adapt beautifully to both. She absolutely loves other dogs and enjoys having doggie friends to play with. Martini is always ready for fun! Her favorite things include playing with tennis balls and racquetballs, chewing on Benebones and other favorite chew treats, and spending time outdoors. Whether she's running, wrestling, playing chase with her foster siblings, or relaxing on the deck (usually tucked underneath the grill), she's happiest enjoying the fresh air. One of Martini's funniest quirks is that when she gets hot, she cools off by climbing into her water bowl for a little "swim!" It's guaranteed to make you smile. After all that playtime, she's happy to recharge with a nap under the bed, curled up in her crate, or stretched out on her big dog cot. Martini is incredibly smart, eager to learn, and has been an absolute joy in her foster home. Her foster family says she has kept them laughing with her silly antics and has been so much fun to watch grow. She's looking for a forever family that will continue to help her learn, love her unconditionally, and include her in all of life's adventures. If you're looking for a sweet, goofy, adventurous puppy to grow up by your side, Martini could be the perfect match!

Meet Joy! 💖 Joy couldn’t have been given a more fitting name because she truly brings happiness everywhere she goes. This adorable 4-month-old Lab mix has the sweetest puppy face, complete with soft floppy ears, warm brown eyes, an irresistible puppy grin, and the cutest little expressions that will melt your heart over and over again. She’s soft as a teddy bear and loves being snuggled just as much as she loves running around with her siblings. Watch Joy and her siblings in action! https://youtu.be/peEPGra24wE?si=r89lcgkkpFHtPMzr Joy is thriving in a loving foster home where she spends her days playing with her puppy siblings, carrying toys around, wrestling, exploring, and then piling up together for puppy naps. She also lives with children and absolutely loves being around them. She’s affectionate, gentle, playful, and incredibly people-oriented. If there’s a lap available, she’d be more than happy to curl up in it for some quality cuddle time. Joy is doing wonderfully with potty training and is learning all about routines, structure, and puppy manners. Like all puppies, she’ll need a family willing to continue her training and help her grow into a confident, well-rounded adult. If you’re looking for a sweet little shadow who will happily join you on adventures and then cuddle up beside you afterward, Joy is ready to become your new best friend. https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/6a4bbd2c8e3d43b2c0083514 Questions? Story
Meet Aspen! If you’ve ever wished for a dog who wakes up every morning convinced it’s the best day ever, you’ve found him. This big, handsome Lab/Pit mix (our best guess!) is around two years old and has the sweetest black-and-white coat, soulful brown eyes, and an adorable spotted nose that’s impossible not to boop. Aspen is one of those dogs who loves with his whole heart. He doesn’t just greet you—he launches into full-body wiggles, leans against you like you’re his favorite person in the world, and happily covers you in kisses if you’ll let him. Despite being a big guy, he’s absolutely convinced he’s lap dog sized, and honestly… who’s going to tell him otherwise? Watch Aspen in action in his video! https://youtu.be/5VLhrrYVzdM?si=AQGooSWwunBNO0aq He’s the definition of a happy-go-lucky, goofy sweetheart. Whether he’s splashing through the water, bouncing around with his dog friends, or tagging along on a hike, Aspen approaches life with endless enthusiasm. If your dream dog is one who’s always ready for the next adventure and then equally excited to snuggle up afterward, Aspen checks every box. Aspen absolutely adores other dogs and has never met one he didn’t want to be friends with. His play style is rough, rowdy, and full of joyful wrestling matches, so he’d do best with dogs over about 25-30 pounds who enjoy that same kind of play. He’s still working on understanding when another dog is ready to take a break, so a confident canine buddy who can communicate clear boundaries would be a wonderful match. He could also thrive as your one-and-only if he gets plenty of exercise, enrichment, and quality time with his people. Because Aspen is such a big, enthusiastic guy, we’re looking for a home without cats. It’s not that he wants to be unkind—he simply sees them as potential playmates and doesn’t quite realize how much bigger he is. For the same reason, we’d recommend older kids or teenagers who won’t be knocked over by his happy greetings while he continues polishing his manners. Aspen rides wonderfully in the car, enjoys being out exploring, and loves the water, making him the perfect companion for hiking trails, lake days, camping trips, or weekend adventures. He’s happiest when he’s included in whatever you’re doing, and after he’s had a chance to burn off some energy, he’s more than ready to curl up beside you for some well-earned cuddles. If you’re looking for a loyal best friend who’s equal parts adventure partner, oversized cuddle bug, and lovable goofball, Aspen is ready to steal your heart—and probably your spot on the couch, too. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Apply today! https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/6a4431f93328e0d8d20ea42f Questions?
