Story
Running buddy wanted. I am a gorgeous black lab and shepherd mix, 18 months old, current on vaccinations, and heartworm negative. Seeking home with love, good food, and air conditioning for my cool down. I am a little shy at first but love to play and explore. Champ would not be good in a home with small children, as they stress him. High energy, Champ needs a physically active lifestyle with a walker, runner, hiker. He has cohabited well with other dogs in the past but bigger dogs intimidate him.  ##782224##

Story
Meet Lacey – A Sweet Soul Ready to Heal Lacey is a gentle, affectionate girl who’s been through more than her fair share—but she’s still holding onto hope. Thought to be a Lab-hound (or possibly Lab-beagle) mix, this petite sweetheart weighs around 38–40 pounds. While her current condition makes it hard to know her exact breed mix, one thing is clear: she’s full of love. Lacey is currently being treated for demodex mange and a yeast infection, and her vet-prescribed medications will go with her to continue care. She doesn’t require immediate bathing, just a calm, safe place where she can rest and heal. Despite her physical state, Lacey’s sweet spirit shines through. She’s gentle, quiet, and easy to be around—grateful for every bit of kindness she’s shown. What Lacey needs most now is a soft place to land, a home or rescue where she can finally feel safe and begin her journey back to health. She deserves a second chance—and someone to show her how good life can be. If you can help Lacey start her new chapter, please email adoptpetersburg@gmail.com. She’s waiting.

Story
Meet Pinky – A Laid-Back Sweetheart Looking for Her Forever Home Hi there! I’m Pinky, a roughly 4-year-old, 79 lb lab shepherd mix with a gentle spirit and a heart full of love to give. I’ve been patiently waiting for a quiet, caring home where I can feel safe and finally exhale. The shelter is a scary place for me — so loud and chaotic that I often retreat to the back of my kennel just to cope. But once I’m outside and away from the stress, I truly come alive. I blossom in calm, familiar spaces, especially with the company of other friendly pups. I love soft affection, quiet strolls, and the feeling of safety and connection. Because I can be a little nervous at times, I’ve shown I can be an escape artist, so I’ll need a secure fence or to be leash-walked for my safety. Pinky is spayed and up to date on vaccinations, and she’s ready for a fresh start with someone who will give her the time and patience she needs to shine. She's even already crate and house trained. If you’re looking for a tender, low-key companion who just needs a little time and love to flourish, I could be the one. Come meet me, Pinky, at the shelter today — or email adoptpetersburg@gmail.com with “Pinky” in the subject line to learn more. I’m ready for peace, for comfort, and for my forever. Maybe it’s with you?

Story
Abe was found as a stray in mid-October, but you’d never know it from his gentle nature and good manners. This handsome black and white Lab/Border Collie mix is about a year and a half old — young enough to be playful and curious, yet mature enough to know when it’s time to settle down. Abe is affectionate, well-mannered, and easy to love. He enjoys walks, attention, and any opportunity to be close to his people. His kind eyes and sweet personality make him the kind of companion who just fits right in. He’s also neutered, dog friendly, kid friendly, heartworm negative, and fully vaccinated — truly ready for a smooth transition into a forever home. He’s ready to put his stray days behind him and find a family to love and be loved by. Abe’s heart is as big as his paws — come meet him and see for yourself. Story
Riley will be 4 on 12/25, about 55lbs, female basic shots and rabies are due in May 2026. She is house trained an inside dog, she does well with other dogs but would be better suited by herself, (very dominant). A one person dog, loves cuddling under the covers, & car riding. We can no longer keep her due to our busy work schedules, I hate leaving her in the kennel all day up to 10-12 hrs without any exercise or roam time throughout the day. She gets out of fence too and we’re in the city near a highway. She needs someone who will have time to spend with her and give her the love and attention she craves. She comes with kennel, leash & feeding bowls. She was originally rescued from a local animal shelter but they won’t take her back bc we’re out of their district. She is very playful and still has a lot of puppy in her she has been treat for heart worm prevention as well as taken barvecto. Serious inquiries only! Please contact me for further details.
