If you are looking for a loving, smart, playful four-legged companion that loves daily walks and eventually someone to go jogging with. Rosco is looking for his forever family.  He needs a family that will love him with calm leadership and continue his training by giving him guidance with rules, boundaries, and limitations. He is not perfect; he has had a very rough start to life. However, the amazing thing about dogs is that they move forward if we lead them in that direction.  Rosco is a dog you cannot pity despite the cruelties he has survived. He still trusts but requires leadership and structure, as he will test limits because he is a brilliant little dog. He is an active dog, but can not do strenuous exercise until he completes his heartworm treatment and his deep injuries are totally healed. Rosco's vet (Safari in League City) thinks he is two (ish) years old. He is crate trained but needs more work on house training. He does have a high prey drive, so a house with other small pets(cats/chickens/birds/rabbits/etc...) would not be a good idea. Rosco's Story:This little guy walked into a shop. Someone had taped his mouth shut. He was out back eating rocks. So, Harvey, his savior, at the shop he walked into, went down to Paleo Pet Supply, and got him some soft dawg food. He gobbled it down. Their FedEx driver stopped by today and saw the little guy, told us he had seen him running down El Dorado yesterday with his mouth taped shut and a guy chasing him. Wonder if that was the evil one. When he showed up here at the shop, we had no problem calling him to us. So he wasn't trying to help him, I don't think. He (now named Rosco) is available for adoption, and Paws Animal Rescue will be responsible for his Vet Bills, which are going to be extensive. She accepted me quickly and is very loving. She LOVES toys and snuggling in your lap. Bella can be a little bossy with the resident dogs, so she might be best as an only dog or maybe one other submissive dog in the household. She would be the perfect companion for someone looking for a calm, sweet little girl to snuggle with.                                  *****Meet Bella. She's a sweet senior chiweenie girl who came to ATDR via another rescue group. Bella was dumped at BARC by her owner, who requested she be euthanized. Bella was flea infested, missing patches of fur and was heavy heartworm positive. It hurts our hearts to know Bella was in that state of neglect as an 'owned' pet. She wasn't a stray. Bella has a grade 4 (out of 6) heart murmur but that doesn't slow her down one bit. Bella is full of spunk. Bella will finish her last heartworm treatment in early February and will be ready for a forever home of her own toward the end of that month. Bella is a little doll. Her foster mom says she loves having her. She is crate and house trained. Bella enjoys sunbathing outside. Even though it appears she prefers women, she enjoys being with people and gets along well with other dogs. Bella is a cuddle bug. She will make a fantastic little lap dog for some lucky adopter after she’s on the road to better health! Her ideal home would be with someone who is retired or works from home looking for a warm pup to share their comfortable chair or sofa with! Bella is a precious girl who loves her person! She and her companion Hazel came into rescue when their human mom passed away and the vet convinced their dad to surrender them because he suffers health problems and has difficulty caring for these senior ladies. Both girls are now sharing life in a comfortable ATDR foster home, being well loved and cared for. Their foster mom says they are both as sweet as can be and get along well with the humans and other pups in the house. Even though they came into rescue together, they can be adopted together or not, but if not, they each need another doggy friend in their new home. Fourteen-year-old Hannah is a sweet old lady with a bit of hearing loss who loves her daily squirrel-hunting walks! She suffers from borderline Cushing’s and is being treated with herbal supplements. When not crated, she needs to go out pretty much hourly or she may have an accident…a small thing to do for enjoying the company of this precious senior girl. He loves his foster home with so many other pups to play with! The grub is good too thanks to his foster mom.
