Story
WE ARE A TX BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application found at haydudeequine.org Harley - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! My name is Harley and it comes from the Old English origin meaning 'Hare Meadow', which represents a peaceful and serene image. Just nothing like seeing a Pyr laying in the yard watching! Unfortunately my elderly owner is not able to care for me any longer but I'm trying not to let it get me down as I look for another family to adopt. Did you know that I came from royalty? The Pyrenees breed came from France where we made our way up from being a peasant farmers dog to the royal court being named the royal dog of France in 1675. Even Queen Victoria had a Pyr. We are strong willed and can sometimes be stubborn but more importantly we are affectionate, patient, confident, fearless and gentle. It is said that we wouldn't make a good breed for first timers but if you're aware of the negative traits (sometimes stubborn & lots of hair) along with the awesome good traits, we could definitely make it work. As a youngster at only around a year and a half old, I do have some basic obedience training, am well mannered, I don't jump up unless invited and have a sweet, loving warm nature that just adores getting 'good boys' from my people. I am a big boy of snowy white fluff. I will need several weekly brushings to keep my royal self tangle free and looking dapper and the vacuum will be an extension of your arm with me around but the reward of my adoring love for you will sooooo be worth it!! A couple of daily 45 minute walks a day should be enough to keep me happy. With that daily exercise in I can do quite well in town with a yard or in the country. I fall into the 3 G category which is Gorgeous, Gentle and Giant. Instinctively nurturing with the flock or family, we do make great family members. Just make sure the couch is big enough for sharing!!! My breed tend to love being with the family and are content to lay at or on your feet or curled up with you on that big enough couch. I'm here to adopt me a family and since you're reading this you must being missing something special in your life too, could it possibly be...ME?!!

The connotation for a Diamond is always positive, right? " Diamonds are a girls best friend", "Diamond in the rough"...I could go on and on!! Oh, hello, did I mention that my name is Diamond? I have a unique and completely symmetric diamond shape on my forehead and a mask of dark kohl that surrounds my eyes. Everyone always comments on my good looks and docile personality. I am sweet and love humans. I am also an obedient girl and try really hard to please my Foster Mums. I walk beautifully on and off leash and never protest when my off leash walk has ended. I go obediently into my kennel and then turn around to get some "Good Girl" ear scritches....awwww!! I am great with the other dogs and even put up with Fosetr Mums' yappy Chihuahuas running after me (I just ignore them). My Hairytage is Anatolian Shepard and Labrador Retriever. I am currently about 50 pounds at 7 months of age (DOB 6/25/2023), so I definitely got my genetics for size from the Retriever side of my family!! My fully grown adult weight should be around 60 pounds. I also inherited my coat from the Labrador genetics; my fur is not thick and double layered like an Anatolian Shepard (less shedding and maintenance!) My mellow personality is very like an Anatolian; patient and tolerant as a livestock guardian should be. I do not have the over the top exuberance that many Lab puppies my age exhibit. I am calm and a "thinker". I love going for walks, but am also happy sitting on the couch and watching TV. I would do well in a single pet home or with a 4 legged sibling! If you have been looking for a "Best Friend" to with whom to share your adventures, trials, and good times, this "Diamond in the rough" is here for you!! Please fill out an application and adopt me today!
