Story
Meet Scooby and Brandy! These two senior pups came in together but don't seem extremely bonded and could be separated to each go to their own perfect family. Brandy is a little shy at first but warms up in no time, she's low energy, sweet, and has the cutest curly whiskers that we've ever seen. Scooby has a touch of anxiety and absolutely loves his people. They have not lived with kids or cats before, but they may be able to do well with older, savvy, and gentle children in the home who know how to respect their space at first. As senior dogs, Scooby and Brandy should receive routine medical care to help them feel healthy, loved, and spoiled throughout their golden years. Brandy and Scooby are currently in foster care, if you are interested in meeting them or have any questions, please complete an adopter's profile at parl.org and email foster@parl.org to schedule an appointment.

Story
Meet Halo, a 14-year-old Lhasa Apso mix with a heart as gentle as her name. This sweet senior arrived at WARL as a stray and seems surprised to find herself in a shelter at this stage in life.Halo has quickly won everyone over with her kind nature. She enjoys leisurely walks with our volunteers, happily soaking up fresh air and quiet companionship. She has even helped a shy dog at the shelter feel a little more confident, showing just how special she is.Like many super seniors, Halo has some age-related medical needs, and she`s hoping to find adopters ready to provide the love and care she deserves. In return, she`ll offer companionship and a grateful heart. She may enjoy living with another small, friendly dog after a meet.If you`ve been looking for a little angel to share your home, and you`re ready to be one for her, Halo is waiting to meet you. If you are interested in adopting Halo, please come to the shelter on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during our walk-in hours of 12-4pm. If you have other dogs please bring them too! We have no history of Halo with cats.

Story
This Ruby is truly a gem! Ruby is a 6 year old Lhasa Apso/terrier mix, and she is a sweet, happy little girl with a big personality! Rescued from a family who spent little time with her, Ruby's next family should have the time to give her lots of attention and TLC. She is energetic and enjoys taking walks and playing with her toys. After that, she's happy to settle down for pets and belly rubs. Ruby does have a Lhasa/terrier attitude and will need an owner who is familiar with handling and working with a dog that can be reactive to other dogs on and off leash. Ruby is a great pup who is waiting for her new family...could that be you? Dog savvy teenage children may be considered. I will consider potential adopters within a 2 hour drive from Connecticut. Please know that I do not ship my rescue dogs. Thank you!

Story
A new classic duo has entered the villa this summer and their names are Teddie and Marty! Teddie (4 year olds) and Marty (6 months old) are a duo of Lhasa Apso mixes who each weigh about 10 pounds. While they had a rough start to life, this pair is ready to enter their lover boy era. These boys are shy and enjoy each other's company but in the short time with us they have already begun to come out of their shells. They enjoy long walks and are even getting better at being on leash! And if they get too hot they don't mind being carried like the princes they are. As they continue to come out of their shell they are looking for a patient adopter who can help them shine! Although Marty only has one eye (one was removed surgically for medical reasons) we can see they have bright futures ahead! If you have any questions about Teddie and Marty you can email their adoption counselor at isabel.giovacchini@gmail.com AND fill ouy an application at www.poainc.org .

Story
Lhasa Apso mixes are known to be gentle, loving, and happy to be your shadow. Meet Fiddle, a 2-year-old mix weighing in at 19 pounds. He has a medium length blonde coat. These mixes like to cuddle, hang out with you, and bark at the door if someone shows up. They are also smart. They learn tricks quickly, too. They are a people dog and therefore they typically, do not like to be left alone for long periods of time.Fiddle gets along with the adults and other dogs. It is not known if he has spent time with younger children or cats.Little is known about his previous life, so it is best to provide a refresher course in training. He is working on his house,j crate and leash training. He will need someone who would appreciate a young adult dog. He will need the right guidance mixed with consistency, repetition, and patience. Cheerful praise and lots of treats will go a long way in helping him master those daily routines. Daily walks will support leash skills as well as socialization skills. (It will also be an opportunity to find out what commands he knows). It will be a new world to him with all the new sights, smells, sounds, and people along his walk. A secure back yard will give him free time to play. At home he will benefit from mental stimulation in the form of activities and play toys. That will keep him from being bored. Fiddle has the potential to be a wonderful family companion. Are you willing to take on the task of helping him transition to a new life where he is loved and appreciated? If yes, read on.* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Fiddle is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us.If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.July 23, 2026, 8:09 am
