Story
Cha-cha Charlie is a 2 year-old mystery mix, maybe Lhasa Maltese something, 15 pounds. He is a doll baby who loves to sit with you and snuggle. He follows you everywhere (you will never go to the bathroom alone again!) and just wants to be spoiled. He likes toys and sits for treats. At first he had trust issues but he quickly learned that I was not going to hurt him. I talk to him before I pick him up and he is fine. Charlie was turned into the shelter because of a bite incident. Unfortunately, the shelter does not gather additional information so we do not know exactly what happened. He had originally come from the shelter years ago and was terrified being back after losing his home. He was placed on the euthanasia list so we pulled him to safety. Five minutes after arriving here, Charlie wanted to get into my lap and be held and get lots of love and attention. He likes to be brushed and get belly rubs. He does not like to have his nails trimmed. He did gently put my thumb in his mouth to say hey lady I don’t like that but he did NOT bite at all. Each morning when I sit back down for coffee, he jumped up on the bed and he sits next to me for love. He is here now as I type this kissing my hand. Cha-cha Charlie is fine with all of the other dogs, but it’s not a huge fan of the big dogs. They stress him out. Housebroken and crate trained. Good with dogs, cats are unknown. No kids under 12. He needs a home with dog experience who will understand that he will need time to trust. Someone who can gentle be his alpha leader. Someone who will spoil him like he deserves.

Story
McGuinness was found as a stray and hit the jackpot when he safely made his way to rescue. This wispy wooly fluff ball may or may not have any dachshund lineage - who can tell under all that floof?!? Whatever breed he is, this boy is one fabulous dog. He is friendly and doing well with house training (not 100% yet), but please give him a moment to settle in as he can be nervous in new environments. He enjoys walks in peaceful parks but is not a fan of loud noises and cars speeding past. He likes to go and can be an escape artist zipping right past you at the door. Because of this, a fence is a must. He is fine with other calm small dogs but also would be good as a solo canine cause he loves his people. He is not a fan of being left alone so someone who has time to share would be the best. Another element he is NOT a fan of his crate. He hates it! He would say he loathes it. Tee hee. This is something we are continuing to work on slowly with him, but also keeping him calm and happy is a priority for us as well. He does love to spend the day at doggie day care hanging out with his canine gang. McGuinness is looking for: •home with a fence •can be companion for other small dog or solo canine in the home •person who is always up for cuddles •patient person who spends time at home with time to help Mr MG feel comfortable being left alone If you are interested in adopting McGuinness, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. McGuinness's adoption fee is $500. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. McGuinness will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back. Follow us on Instagram , Facebook and Twitter
