Story
McGuinness was found as a stray and hit the jackpot when he safely made his way to rescue. This wispy wooly fluff ball may or may not have any dachshund lineage - who can tell under all that floof?!? Whatever breed he is, this boy is one fabulous dog. He is friendly and doing well with house training (not 100% yet), but please give him a moment to settle in as he can be nervous in new environments. He enjoys walks in peaceful parks but is not a fan of loud noises and cars speeding past. He likes to go and can be an escape artist zipping right past you at the door. Because of this, a fence is a must. He is fine with other calm small dogs but also would be good as a solo canine cause he loves his people. He is not a fan of being left alone so someone who has time to share would be the best. Another element he is NOT a fan of his crate. He hates it! He would say he loathes it. Tee hee. This is something we are continuing to work on slowly with him, but also keeping him calm and happy is a priority for us as well. So if you are a SAHP homebody, McGuinness may be just the guy for you. McGuinness is looking for: •home with a fence •can be companion for other small dog or solo canine in the home •person who is always up for cuddles •patient person who spends time at home with time to help Mr MG feel comfortable being left alone If you are interested in adopting McGuinness, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. McGuinness's adoption fee is $500. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. McGuinness will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back. Follow us on Instagram , Facebook and Twitter

Story
This hurts so much to do. Coco is the best companion anyone could ask for. She’s a sweet 2 year old Bichon is what we believe her to be. We found her as a fragile puppy at the bottom of our subdivision 2 years ago. Unwell and unkept. While I didn’t think having a puppy was a good idea, I couldn’t help but rescue her. We tried to find her home but ended up keeping her as our own. My partner walked out on us a few months back, leaving me to care for Coco alone. I travel for work and I am away for months at a time. My normal local work days are 12 hours. I am noticing Coco to be more sad these days now that she doesn’t have someone home 24/7 how she’s used to. Then boarding and staying with friends isn’t working. She’s house trained. Knows command words. Please no off leash outdoors unless she’s properly trained first. She loves laying outdoors in the sun so you’ll MUST have to have a gate/fence. No other dogs preferred or other nice small breeds could be good for her. I love Coco so much
