NAME:  Hermie BREED:  Maltese mix SEX:  male COLOR:  white/tan AGE:  estimated DOB Dec 2021 WEIGHT:  11.5 lbs   NOTES ABOUT HERMIE: Meet Hermie!  Hermie is an almost 5-year-old Maltese mix weighing 11.5 pounds, with a gentle soul who is still learning that the world can be a safe and happy place. Hermie's life didn't start the way every dog deserves. He came to Canine Castaways as part of a hoarding and neglect case along with several other dogs, believed to be related. While he is now safe, loved, and cared for, the effects of his past have understandably left him cautious about new people, new places, and new experiences. Hermie isn't the kind of dog who will run up to greet strangers or instantly jump into your lap. He's the kind of dog who watches quietly from a distance, taking everything in and deciding when he's ready. And that's okay. The people who know Hermie best understand that every small step forward is a victory. Every moment of trust he offers is a gift. While he still has work to do, Hermie continues to make progress and show us glimpses of the happy little dog hiding beneath his fears. One thing that helps Hermie feel comfortable is having canine friends around. He would do best in a home with a friendly, outgoing dog about his size who can help show him the ropes and build his confidence. He takes comfort in following the lead of dogs who are comfortable in their surroundings. Hermie is not aggressive. He's simply unsure. He's still working on leash skills and learning that new experiences don't have to be scary. Because of his sensitive nature, he will need a quiet adult-only home with someone experienced in helping fearful dogs gain confidence. A securely fenced yard is also required, giving Hermie a safe place to explore, relax, and continue building trust at his own pace. Hermie isn't looking for someone to change who he is. He's looking for someone who will appreciate him exactly as he is, celebrate his progress, and give him the time he needs to become the dog he's meant to be. The right family wont measure success in days. They'll measure it in tail wags. In moments of trust. In small victories that slowly become a beautiful life. And for Hermie, that kind of family would mean everything.   If you are interested in adopting please complete our Adoption Application by copying and pasting the following link into your web browser: http://www.caninecastaways.org/adoption-application For a full list of dogs we currently have for adoption use this link:  https://www.caninecastaways.org/adoptable-dogs MEDICAL INFO: The following has been or will be done for this dog... - Basic Exam by Veterinarian - Spayed or Neutered - Heartworm Tested - Placed on heartworm preventive - Basic Bloodwork - Urinalysis - Microchipped - Intestinal Parasite Exam and medication - Vaccinations - Placed on Flea preventive ADOPTION DONATION: $300 This adoption donation helps to cover the vet expenses for this dog including heartworm preventive which is dispensed at the initial vet visit and then goes with the dog at adoption. Psssst… hey you. Yes, YOU. I’ve got something important to tell you. My name is Kirby, and I’m an adorable 7-year-old, 9-pound Morkie boy who looks like a stuffed animal come to life! I just arrived at Florida Coastal Cocker Rescue and I’m looking for my forever home. I'm kind of a lap dog. Okay, TOTALLY a lap dog. I love being close to my person, giving kisses, and just… hanging out together. I'm chill, affectionate, and I make an excellent couch companion. My foster mom says I mind her really well, which — yes, I do, because I'm a good boy and I know it. Now, full transparency: I'm still working on my housetraining and leash manners. I know, I know. But with a little patience and consistency, I'm going to be an absolute star. I also have a teensy talent for escaping, so a secure yard would be ideal, and my new family should be vigilant about open doors and consider an AirTag for extra peace of mind. Think of it as loving me safely! I get along well with other dogs, and I'd likely do great with dog-savvy kids 12 and up. If you're ready for a sweet, snuggly little shadow who will cover you in kisses, I'm your guy. Apply to adopt me at https://tinyurl.com/FCCRadoptionapp Adoption fee: $350

Story
Meet Poppy! Poppy is a 10-year-old Maltese/Poodle mix and the largest member of her adorable little family, weighing in at a whopping 14.5 pounds. While she may be the biggest of the bunch, she's every bit as sweet, gentle, and loving as her best friends Hector, Chia, and Darla. Poppy has a soft, affectionate personality and enjoys spending time with both people and her canine companions. She is the kind of dog who is happy to be included in whatever you're doing, whether that's relaxing on the couch, following you around the house, or joining you for a leisurely stroll. Her calm demeanor and loving nature make her an easy companion to adore. Poppy and her three friends recently lost the person they loved most. Their owner cherished them deeply and had one final wish: that Poppy, Hector, Chia, and Darla stay together. They have spent their entire lives as a family, providing comfort, companionship, and security to one another through every stage of life. Now, these four little dogs are searching for a special person willing to continue that bond. Are you brave enough to take on a four-pack of very cute little dogs? While bringing home four dogs may seem like a big commitment, this tiny family comes with an enormous amount of love. You'll receive four loyal shadows, four warm cuddle buddies, and four grateful hearts. Poppy may be the biggest of the group, but she's just another piece of the puzzle that makes this little family complete. If you have room in your home and heart for Poppy and her friends, you'll be helping fulfill a dying wish and giving four deserving dogs the second chance they deserve.

Story
Meet Darla! Darla is an 8-year-old Shih Tzu/Maltese mix with a heart as sweet as her adorable little face. This gentle girl is part of a very special four-pack that includes her friends Hector, Chia, and Poppy. Together, they make quite the charming crew! Darla is unimaginably sweet and loves being close to her people. She has a calm, loving personality and is happiest when she's receiving attention, snuggles, and affection. Despite a few medical challenges, Darla greets each day with a happy spirit and a wagging tail. Darla has a luxating patella, which occasionally causes her to hold up one of her back legs for a few moments. She is also taking Vetmedin for her heart, but neither of these things slow her down. She still enjoys exploring, spending time with her canine companions, and soaking up all the love she can get. Darla and her three best friends recently lost the person they loved most. Their owner adored them and had one final wish: that Hector, Chia, Poppy, and Darla remain together. They have spent their lives as a family, finding comfort and security in one another, and we hope to honor that wish by finding a very special adopter willing to welcome all four into their home. Are you brave enough to take on a four-pack of very cute little dogs? While adopting four dogs may sound like a big adventure, you'll be rewarded with four times the love, four times the cuddles, and four times the joy. These little dogs don't ask for much—just a soft place to sleep, a loving lap to curl up in, and the chance to stay together. If you have room in your heart and home for this devoted little family, Darla, Hector, Chia, and Poppy would love to meet you.

Story
Hi my name is Topsy! I'm estimated at 5 years old, weigh 9-10 lbs and appear to be a full Maltese (can not be guaranteed). I was surrendered with a few of my friends, Mopsy and Flopsy and we are looking for our forever homes. I am quiet and a little shy, but not aggressive at all. It appears we were used for breeding and we are so looking forward to having the life little dogs like us deserve with a real family and real love. I just really don’t know what is expected of me- the trainer here says I need to “learn to be a dog”. I will need help with potty and leash training- it wasn’t important before. I am dog friendly, so maybe having a fur sibling will help me learn? My $450 adoption fee includes vet exam, up to date vaccinations, spay, dental cleaning/work (desperately needed!), deworming, heartworm test (negative), and microchip. If you are interested in adopting me, please complete an application at www.gofar.dog under adopt as soon as possible as little ones like me find homes pretty quickly! If you have questions, email my rescue at adoptions@gofar.dog. If you'd like to experience all the love I have, and want to make me part of your family, please complete the adoption application by pasting this link into your browser: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=sm2546&method=online_form_html&formid=21
