Story
Hi there! I am one of 30 pups from a bad hoarding case. We had a rough start to life where we were used for breeding and forced to live in our filth. We were all severely neglected and had matted, filthy fur. Thankfully, we are in a much better place now with VOCAL! Despite all we've been through, every single one of us is super sweet and social with people and other dogs! Many of us have been placed in foster homes and have done really well, even being chill with cats and being relatively easy to potty train. However, it's important to note that, due to our less than ideal circumstances, we will likely need a bit more patience and work than a normal dog. If you give us a chance, I'm sure we'll be wonderful pets!

Story
Please read the entire bio for this rescue, it will provide all the information that one needs to decide if they would like to apply to adopt from SCMR.Adoption fee - $300   Missy Zelda is available for adoption, she is 9 years old and weighs about 9 pounds.  She is in Gainesville Florida.   Missy Zelda was an owner surrender, her family was no longer able to take care of her.  She came to us in rough shape, but she is better now and ready for the right family to adopt her.  She is safe and very much loved in her foster home.   Missy Zelda does have some long term health issues:  she was diagnosed with pancreatitis (Pancreatitis in dogs is the inflammation of the pancreas, causing abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy, often triggered by high-fat foods or table scraps. It can be acute (sudden) or chronic, requiring prompt veterinary care for fluid therapy, pain management, and nutritional support to avoid severe dehydration or organ damage.) she is stable now, but we have no way of knowing if she will relapse and have a flareup.  A flareup could mean medicines, and possibly hospital care.   She also has bad knees (luxating patellas).  She can be seen occasionally favoring her back legs, but it does not seem to bother her right now.  And sadly, when she had her dental, she lost the 9 teeth she had, so she now has no teeth, but she is fine eating soft food.  Because of her age we are not looking at surgery for her knees.   Because she has no teeth, her tongue hangs out of her mouth, and because of that, she has a stained look on the right side of her nose.  And she licks her feet, so they are stained as well.  This is an ongoing issue with her, so it is likely that it will always be that way.   Also, as yucky as it sounds, she will eat her poop, it can be hard to catch her, but we try the best we can.  There is no 'cure' for this nasty habit; there are  a lot of home remedies, but the only thing that helps, is to catch her as soon as she potty's, it is unknown why some dogs do this, there is a lot of speculation, but no real answer.   And, she is working on her house manners, she WILL have accidents inside the home, she was not trained by her previous owners, so she has a lifetime of doing what she wants.   We have seen, that it will take several weeks to adjust to a new home,  if you feel Missy Zelda would be a good fit for your family, knowing her health issues and her lack of potty training, please fill out the online adoption application. Out-of-state adoptions are possible; however, the approved adoptive home is responsible for making the necessary arrangements to pick up their new little one.  To be considered to adopt me, please fill out an APPLICATION.  NOTE: SCMR does not adopt to homes with children under the age of 10 years or homes with Electric Fences. You can help make a difference one dog at a time. If you would like to sponsor one of our babies, we accept online donations via PayPal or send a check to us at P.O. Box 2005, Chattanooga, TN 37409. We thank you for whatever you can help us with. Any donation is appreciated and is tax deductible, as allowed by law,  as we are a qualified non-profit 501(c)3 organization.    All our males are sent with BELLY BANDS!    for a one time Donation that goes direct to SCMR please go to our paypal link: April 28, 2026, 10:35 am

Not good with kids,
Story
Meet Gigi!Gigi is a 6-month-old Maltese mix weighing just 8 lbs, and she is as sweet as they come. She may be a little shy at first, but she warms up quickly and absolutely loves attention. After not having much love early on, she is now soaking up every bit of affection from her foster - and it shows. She is well on her way with potty training and learning the routine, but she is still a puppy with some playful antics. Gigi would do best in a home where someone is around more often than not to continue guiding her and giving her the reassurance she needs.Gigi is fearful of children due to past experiences, so she is looking for an adult-only home (no kids or grandkids) where she can feel safe and secure. She would thrive with another small dog to play with and help build her confidence.Located in Palm City, FL - local adopters onlyIf you feel like Gigi could be the right fit, please complete an application on our website. Lets make sure we find her the perfect home.

Good with kids, Good with dogs, House-trained,
Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Dino is a lovable 4-year-old Maltese mix (best guess on age and breed since he was found as a stray). He weighs around 15 pounds. Small, scruffy, and impossible to resist, Dino is the kind of dog who turns everyday moments into something a little sweeter. With his soft, cream-colored coat, floppy ears, and curious eyes, he looks like a living teddy bear… but with a playful spark that keeps life fun. Dino is the definition of “chill”—he’ll happily snooze in his dog bed or curl up next to you, content to simply be close. But the minute you get up he gets up too! Be ready for a loyal shadow, because Dino sticks right by your side wherever you go—even to the bathroom (you’ll never be alone again)! If you work from home, Dino makes the perfect office buddy. He loves settling at the bottom of your computer chair during working hours. And if other family members are home, he will take turns hanging out with each of them. Dino enjoys walks, exploring scents, and marking his territory (typical male dog). He knows how to walk on the leash – but is a bit cautious where he is going having lived as a stray for a while. Once Dino gets onto a lap he melts in the person’s arms. He enjoys being petted closing his eyes imagining his dream coming true. He prefers to sleep in a human bed so he can stay close. Dino’s desire for companionship makes him a cuddle buddy who will always want to be near his favorite humans. When visitors arrive, Dino considers himself the greeting committee and then wants to follow the new person around to be part of the action. Dino loves all people and enjoys laying at the feet or beside ones that are sitting down. He will be calm since the person is calm. His favorite room in the house is the kitchen standing next to the person preparing a meal. Dino thinks he is “helping” by cleaning up the floor when needed. Car rides excite Dino as he jumps in the vehicle making himself comfortable in the passenger seat saying, “take me somewhere fun”. Dino gets along with other dogs but prefers human companionship more. He will be comfortable living as an only dog or with dog siblings. According to his foster family, Dino would thrive in any household as long as he still receives plenty of attention. Dino is potty trained and enjoys going potties outside. He has had a couple of accidents inside the foster house because of learning the new routine. He does not like being in a crate. The fosters concluded since he is four years old his previous house must have not needed to keep him in one so are recommending the adopter not have plans to use a crate for him because it makes him anxious and wondering why he is in one. More than anything, Dino wants to be close to his humans. While he may whine initially when his people leave, he quickly settles down and patiently waits for their return. Dino is ready to find his forever home—the kind where he can feel safe, loved, and maybe a little spoiled (he won’t complain!). If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a soft coat and an even softer heart, Dino might be your perfect match. Important Note – 4LD would like Dino placed in his permanent home as soon as possible since he has lived as a stray and spent two weeks in a shelter. Dino is up to date on his vaccinations but still needs to be neutered, which the adopter will assist with at our vet's office (Animal Rescue Coalition in Sarasota). The neuter surgery is included in the adoption fee that is paid when adopting him. 4LD is asking the adopter take Dino there for the surgery, care for him during the recovery, and then take him back for his stitch removal. This is a benefit for Dino because he will have adjusted to his new permanent home and as he recovers he will be in those familiar surroundings. Dino’s adoption fee is $620. This dog comes microchipped, up to date on all necessary vaccines/rabies shots, heartworm tested, and dewormed. He still needs to be neutered which is already included in this fee. He is currently being fostered in the Plant City/Valrico area. The average lifespan for this small breed is 16 years. Therefore, Dinos’ adopter will need to be prepared to care for him for around 12 more years so he will not have to move to a different home again. ----------------- ***We are a foster-based rescue with no shelter or facility to view our dogs, and our address is a mailing address only. Please be patient as we are an all-volunteer rescue team, and our rescue dogs are in various loving foster homes throughout West-Central Florida. As a general rule we try to limit our adoptions to within the state of FL. If interested in one of our dogs, please fill out an application at www.4luckydogs.org, and we will contact you by phone/text if we feel your application is the best fit out of the ones received.***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 28, 2026, 3:42 pm
