Hi… I’m Ozzie. They think I’m a Poodle/Maltese mix, about 5 years old, and I weigh just over 9 pounds. I may be pint-sized, but my heart? It’s huge. I love everyone I meet, and even after everything, I’m just so happy to be here. I do well in my crate, but if I’m being honest, my favorite place in the whole world is your lap. That’s where I feel safest. That’s where I feel like I belong. I’m playful with my foster buddies and I don’t bother the cat at all. I looove treats (I get extra wiggly when I see them!), and I get so excited when the leash comes out because that means I get to go outside and feel the fresh air. Every little thing feels like a gift to me. Before this, I came from a very scary shelter. I had been on my own for a long time, and my fur was so matted and tangled that they had to shave me down. I was a little mess. But my hair is growing back now, and I’m starting to look pretty cute again — and it feels really good to be cared for. They think my foot might have been run over by a car at some point. I have three broken toes. Nobody knows exactly what happened to me back then… but I do know this: it doesn’t slow me down. I still run, I still play, I still love with everything I have. I don’t dwell on the hard parts. I just want to be close to someone. I just want a soft lap, gentle hands, and a home where I’ll never be alone or forgotten again. I’m small. I’m resilient. I’m full of love. And I’m waiting for my forever person. My previous owner must have fed me all the time so I ate all the time and now I need to get my svelte figure back with your help. I enjoy walking around at rescue, so I’m not a couch potato. I was in awful condition when I was rescued. My ears had handful of fur in them and I was pretty matted all over. I get along with everyone at rescue. I stay clear of the rowdy ones, but if they want to sit with me I’m good with that. I’m a good girl. I want a family that will keep me safe and I’ll reward you with lots and lots of love.

She is 14 yrs old and weighs about 14 lbs. Her family was having trouble keeping up with her health care and surrendered her to a very caring vet hospital. The hospital took care of Bella's issues and got her back on her thyroid medications and in shape to come to foster care in SCMR.She is a great little girl who lets her foster mom know when she needs to go out. Bella gets along with the other dogs in the home. Bella is a good eater and takes her meds easily. She likes a nice soft place to nap, sleeps in the big bed at night and loves to be cuddled!Bella is being fostered in Hickory, NC.Adoption fee: $125.00 Out-of-state adoptions are possible; however, the approved adoptive home is responsible for making the necessary arrangements to pick up their new little one. Please read the entire bio for this rescue, it will provide all the information that one needs to decide if they would like to apply to adopt from SCMR.Adoption fee: $125.00 Crouton is about 13 years old and weigh 17 pounds, he is a very sweet and loving fella, he is almost totally deaf, but he can hear and respond to very loud noises. Crouton has a lot of health issues, so he will need a home that is willing to see him through any flareups and be okay with the cost. He is partially housetrained, and may need to wear belly bands (male diapers), he tolerates them well, they need to be changed many times a day. A person can choose to not use them if they want, but he will lift his leg and mark. A supply of the belly bands and pads will be provided at the time of adoption, that will be enough to last a week or more. He enjoys to go outside, so his ideal home would be to have a nice and safe fenced yard for him to enjoy. He was diagnosed with an intestinal disease, but he is doing great now, and the flareup seems to have passed. He also has had ear infections, so his doctor recommends a maintenance medicine to help this, a couple of drops every few days. He does not care for that very much, but he will let let the drops be put in both ears. He is also prone to skin infections, so it would be crucial to make sure he is dry if a person chooses to use belly bands. He has cysts on his shoulder and just below his ear, his doctors feel confidant they are benign, and because of his age and health, and that there are so many, we are not having them removed. He recently had a dental, poor guy lost 15 teeth, he is healing nicely from that, we also did have one growth removed, it was an odd skin growth that was hanging about 4 inches down from his chest. We opted to removed that one, because of it's location and that it could possibly get caught on something and possibly hurt him. Crouton does have a bit of separation anxiety, and will get into thing, like trashcans, and will try to chew shoes, cardboard...he is not choosy! Crouton is waiting for his forever home in Gainesville, FL.
