Story
Meet CJ: Your New Golden Shadow At 16 years young, CJ is proof that some things truly do get better with age. CJ recently found himself in a heartbreaking situation: after spending his entire life in a loving home, he was surrendered through no fault of his own, simply because he reached his senior years. While he may have had the rug pulled out from under him, CJ hasn't let it dampen his spirit. He is a gentle soul looking for a soft place to land and a family to cherish him for the rest of his journey. Why CJ is the Perfect Companion: A Total Gentleman: CJ is fully house-broken and as quiet as a mouse. No puppy chaos here—just pure, seasoned loyalty. The Ultimate Socialite: He gets along beautifully with dogs, cats, and people of all ages. He’s a peacemaker through and through. Low Maintenance, High Love: Whether he’s wandering peacefully through the yard or snoozing on a warm lap, CJ is content just being near you. The 'Golden Year' Magic: Senior dogs have a unique way of showing gratitude, and CJ has enough love stored up to fill a lifetime. 'He isn't just a dog; he’s a 16-year legacy of love looking for its final chapter.' CJ doesn't ask for much—just a cozy bed, a gentle hand, and the promise that he’ll never have to worry about losing his home again. If you have room in your heart for a sweet old soul who will ask for nothing and give you everything, CJ is waiting for you. Give this gentle boy the retirement he deserves. Adopt CJ today. Story
Oreo is a sweet, gentle, and incredibly resilient pup who’s ready to find his forever home. After being surrendered due to seizures that his previous family was unable to pursue treatment for, Oreo is now receiving the veterinary care and attention he deserves—and he’s thriving! Currently on medication, Oreo has not experienced any seizures while in care. He takes his meds like a champ and continues to live life as a happy, playful, and affectionate dog. He will likely need to remain on medication long-term, but it doesn’t slow him down one bit—so don’t let that discourage you! The medication only costs $18 every 2 months Oreo is an active boy who loves to run, play, and go for walks. He appears to be housebroken and has been doing wonderfully in rescue. His loving, easygoing personality truly shines once he feels comfortable. Oreo can be fearful of men at first and may need a little extra time and patience to build trust. With the right environment and gentle reassurance, he is capable of feeling safe and secure. Because of this, Oreo may do best in a female-only household or in a home willing to go slowly and thoughtfully while he adjusts. Oreo is feeling great and patiently waiting for a family to call his own. If you’re looking for a loyal, joyful companion and are ready to give him the understanding home he deserves, come meet Oreo—you just might fall in love!  Adoption Fee $525Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 24, 2026, 2:42 pm

Story
Casey is a cutie pie. He is a 6 yr old Maltese who has been through hell. He was surrendered to a high kill shelter because his owner could not afford vet care. She never did any vet care for him.  An amazing sponsor covered all of Casey's numerous surgeries, :  Neuter, Dental removing 20 teeth, a double hernia, a prolapsed rectum, but thanks to this angel Casey is now ready to find his forever home.  Despite everything, Casey is always happy, He loves to play fetch and is great with dogs and kids. What Casey deserves is a family with a couple of well behaved kids ( he cannot be fed junk or table scraps), a small dog friend, and a fenced in yard on either Long Island or westchester. He needs a family who can afford any possible, future vet bills. I A new dilemma has arised:  We are looking for a very special person to understand.  Adorable Casey had several surgeries that his sponsor paid for. He had a double hernia repair, 20 teeth removed, neuter, and prolapsed rectum corrected ( with muscle taken from his little leg). He has been through hell at only 6 yrs old and 10 lbs. Sometimes hernia repairs don't take and it's already been repaired 2 times. At this point, it's not healthy to put him under anesthesia, yet again. It is not life threatening and all that you need to do it put a glove on and clean out of theB pouch from the hernia repair. He can still go to the bathroom like a normal pup, but some goes in that pouch. It's a small amount and we know not everyone would be willing to do this, but we also know there are loving adopters out there that want to help the ones that need us most  Casey is a love, and this small issue should not prevent him from finding the home he deserves. He has been through so much. He is good w everyone he meets. If he had another dog, great. If not, more attention for him. He'd love kids, but we feel kids old enough to be gentle with this baby boy. He may need surgeries ahead, so someone that can afford giving him what he needs to be healthy and happy!  Please go to the link to fill our our adoption application.  https://www.remembermerescueny.net/adoption-application  Remember Me Rescue does not adopt out of the local area, no transport is available.  We adopt to Long Island, Westchester, NYC area and parts of Connecticut only. Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you! ##2631099##

Story
Say bonjour to Maurice, an eight year old Maltese mix with undeniable appeal and “savior faire”. The approximate size of a Louis Vuitton satchel, he is both stylish and trendy, making him the ideal one to have by your side for any outing. This handsome, debonair fellow has a bit of a complicated past and a few false steps (the French would say faux pas), so he’s hoping to find someone that will allow him time to adjust and be patient with his progress. Once you’ve passed muster, Maurice is affectionate, cuddly, and will stand upright for attention and treats. He likes quiet nights, belly rubs, and second chances. We’re convinced that Maurice will flourish in the right home (one with prior dog experience) and be an ideal companion. If you’re searching for someone with a certain “je ne sais quoi” (an indescribable special quality or charm), Maurice is the guy for you. Second chances happen the moment you open your heart…this Valentine’s Day, find true love at your local shelter. *Maurice is fully grown and housebroken*

Story
Like an aged cheese, Kolby, a thirteen year old Maltese mix, just keeps getting better with time. Mild mannered, buttery, and possessing maturity and patience, he’s hoping to find a comfortable lap along with a forever home. Initially reserved, he warms up quickly, enjoying cuddles, pets, and poetry readings. Characteristic of senior dogs, he is wise, complex, unfailingly loyal, and a reminder that love never grows old. Promising to be a great companion, our little Kolby is ready to pledge his future to the right family, settle in, and become a valued member of the household. If you’re missing a steadfast presence who will warm your favorite chair, look no further than Kolby! “The best things in life are old, loved, and rescued.” *Kolby is fully grown and not housebroken*
