Amaretto is a 6-year-old Maltese mix. This resilient pup has come a long way from his rough beginnings—found in a bag on the streets of New York City and brought to safety. Now neutered, fully vetted, and thriving, Amaretto is ready to start his next chapter with someone who will truly appreciate the love he has to give.
Amaretto is the definition of a loyal companion. He tends to bond closely with one person—ideally a woman. His gentle spirit makes him a calming presence in the home, and he would do best in a quiet, adult-only environment where he can feel secure and loved. He’s great on a leash, rides well in the car, and gets along nicely with most dogs. He’s also cat friendly! However, due to his sensitivities, he is not a fit for homes with children. Amaretto has chronic dry eye, which means he needs daily eye drops to keep him comfortable.

ADOPTION PROCESS:
1. You must begin our adoption process by applying to adopt on clawsadopt.org. Please do NOT inquire via Petfinder, social media messengers or in our comments. We will only be looking at applications!
2. Please make sure you fill out our adoption application COMPLETELY. We may not be able to respond to applications that are not completely filled out with the proper information. Side note: on our applications, the more details you provide = the better.
3. We prefer applicants live within 60 miles of Closter, NJ. (Applicants who live farther away may still apply. However, please note we do prioritize local applications as we try our best to serve our local community first.)
4. Please respect our organization, our volunteers and our process. As a reminder, our organization is a nonprofit. We receive no money from the state. We have no paid employees! This is a polite reminder that we are doing our best to make the right decisions for the animals in our care. Thank you.
