Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  Jack loves to play, snuggle, and follow his favorite people around the house. He’s a happy pup who gets along beautifully with other dogs and cats (though if a kitty runs, he may join in the chase just for fun!). Jack can be a little shy when trying something new, and he does seem to prefer women at first. But once he warms up, his loving and playful personality shines. He’s still learning the basics — potty training, leash walking, and simple commands — but he’s eager to please and loves spending time with his humans, especially cuddled up in bed at night. Because of his size and sensitivities, Jack needs a home with no children under the age of 10. He would thrive in a home with another dog to play with and a family ready to give him plenty of love, patience, and guidance as he grows. Jack truly is a special little guy who just wants to feel safe, loved, and part of a family. Whoever adopts him will be incredibly lucky. Requires a fenced yard. Story
Please read the entire bio for this rescue, it will provide all the information that one needs to decide if they would like to apply to adopt from SCMR. Adoption Fee: $500.00   Hi there! I’m Toto — a 1-year-old, 5-pound Maltese boy who’s still wondering why my forever family hasn’t found me yet. I may be tiny, but my heart (and energy!) are huge! I love zooming around the house, playing with toys, and being right by your side. I’m what you might call a “total puppy” — curious, bouncy, and full of life.   I’m currently in my foster home in Georgia, where I spend my days playing and my nights cuddled up in bed with my foster mom. Yep, I sleep in the human bed because that’s where I feel safest and happiest! I also love being held — it’s my favorite thing.   I get along really well with other dogs, though I’ll admit that big dogs can be a little intimidating because, well, I’m only 5 pounds! My foster home doesn’t have any cats, so no one knows quite how I’d do around them yet. I’m still working on my house training — I’m a young guy and learning fast with a little help and patience.   Because of my small size and playful puppy energy, my ideal home would be with someone experienced with tiny dogs who understands how to keep me safe and happy.   Medical Update: I have a condition called cryptorchidism, which means one or both of my testicles didn’t descend properly. It’s a genetic condition, and to avoid putting me at risk with invasive surgery, SCMR decided not to proceed with neutering. My adopter must understand this condition and agree to keep me away from any females in heat. My adoption contract will include a requirement that I never be used for breeding.   Other than that, I’m healthy, happy, and not on any medications!   Even though I’m just a year old, I fall under SCMR’s Seniors for Seniors policy — which means our rescue is proud to consider adopters who are 70+ years old for rescues age 7 and up. While I’m a young pup myself, SCMR encourages everyone to also think about adopting one of our amazing senior dogs. They have so much love to give and truly make a house feel like home.   So… what do you say? I’m ready to bring joy, cuddles, and lots of zoom-zoom energy into your life. Could you be the one I’ve been waiting for?   — Love, Toto   Out-of-state adoptions are possible; however, the approved adoptive home is responsible for making the necessary arrangements to pick up their new little one.  To be considered to adopt me, please fill out an APPLICATION.  NOTE: SCMR does not adopt to homes with children under the age of 10 years or homes with Electric Fences. You can help make a difference one dog at a time. If you would like to sponsor one of our babies, we accept online donations via PayPal or send a check to us at P.O. Box 2005, Chattanooga, TN 37409. We thank you for whatever you can help us with. Any donation is appreciated and is tax deductible, as allowed by law,  as we are a qualified non-profit 501(c)3 organization.    All our males are sent with BELLY BANDS!    for a one time Donation that goes direct to SCMR please go to our paypal link: November 20, 2025, 6:36 pm

Story
Molly is a 3 year old 8 lbs Maltese who was previously used as a  breeder dog and recently lost the only family she had ever known.  This little girl is scared and doesn't understand what happened. To adopt little Molly these are our MUST HAVES: (no exceptions) 1.  Fully fenced yard (privacy or chain link) she is small and could possibly fit between the rails on wrought iron fencing. 2.  Be home .. her previous owner doted on her and took her everywhere .. he was her world and she was his princess.  She wants that again and would do best as the only dog as she can be picky about her dog friends and if there is another dog they would need to be very chill and respectful of her personal space. 3.  Patience and lots of it.  We don't have a lot of background knowledge on her.  She is terrified of everything right now and needs time and space in a new home for her to be comfortable.  It will take her time to get used to a new place, new people and feel comfortable and this could take weeks or more.  If you need instant gratification, please don't apply. We don't know about house training and she is doing better on leash but we still consider her a flight risk if she got loose.  She is spayed, heartworm negative, on preventions and current on vaccines.  She is not a fan of small children, they are scary to her and overwhelming, so 12 years old + if there are children in the home. We know these are a lot of "must haves" but we are really trying to find her a new home where she has the best chance of being comfortable and finding that inner happiness that she had. She deserves that and that is what we are trying to accomplish for her. So if you think you are the right person or family for Miss Molly, you will need to fill out the application on our website at www.safehaventn.com.  We will not adopt her out of state and adopters need to be within 2 hours of Cookeville, TN  Her adoption fee is $250.

Please read the entire bio for this rescue, it will provide all the information that one needs to decide if they would like to apply to adopt from SCMR.Simon & Mia   This little bonded Maltese pair are in need of Sponsor Angels. They can not be separated. SCMR will care for them as long as they need us.    Mia is 10 years old and weighs only 5.6 pounds. She has a 6/6 heart murmur  and mitral valve disease with left ventricular enlargement which makes anesthesia very dangerous, if not impractical, for any procedures she needs such as a dental for her advanced dental disease. She also has high blood pressure.   Simon is 7 years old and 10.6 pounds. He has hip dysplasia and severe luxating patellas. Also he has advanced dental disease and a mast cell tumor on his side. He will be closely monitored for signs of pain and decreased mobility.   Please help us make life as easy and painless as possible for these two by making a tax deductible donation as a Sponsor Angel. SCMR will send you a tax acknowledgement for your donation. All donors will be listed as Sponsor Angels on Simon & Mia's posting on our web site. Out-of-state adoptions are possible; however, the approved adoptive home is responsible for making the necessary arrangements to pick up their new little one.  To be considered to adopt me, please fill out an APPLICATION.  NOTE: SCMR does not adopt to homes with children under the age of 10 years or homes with Electric Fences. Story
EuGe is a 9 year old Maltese Terrier cross. He came from a home where they couldn’t care for the dogs any longer. He gets along great with other dogs. He isn’t sure about cats and sometimes barks at mine. He’s a great companion dog, follows me and sits beside my chair. He is passive but playful when stimulated. He’s the perfect little laid back gentleman for a quieter home. He’s leash trained and will use pads. His Vetting is complete: neutered, all vaccinations, flea tick heartworm prevention, dewormed. He has medium length hair but has a shorter summer clip right now. Email arkofcleveland@aol.com or call 423-472-2744.

Story
Popcorn is about 18 lbs., 15 years old and according to Google lens, a West highland terrier. Animal Care Services thought he was a Maltese mix and foster mom thinks he could be a Schnauzer/Maltese mix but knows for sure that he is the cutest scruffy EVER! His journey hasn't been all snuggles and treats as he lived on someone's apartment patio for years, lying in poop, grass and other debris until Animal Care Services came for him and God's Dogs Rescue was able to save the little scamp. While he still loves his humans, other gentle pups his size (cats unknown) and his squishy toys and chewy, understandably he has a few emotional scars especially regarding vet visits and grooming. Slow, patient progress in these areas has helped him be more confident, but will need a patient adopter to help him adapt. Things that make Popcorn super happy are spending time with his humans after he gets to know them, car rides and walks in the park. He loves, loves his squishy toys and generally carries one around with him. His most favorite game is for his person to chase him and pretend to take his squishy away. He also like to run zooms and if there isn't a person to play with he will often throw his toys for himself. Doesn't that just make you want to throw his stuffies so he can play?? He's a healthy guy for his age with just a few old man issues (beginnings of cataracts) that he takes supplements for and should continue taking. His liver enzymes were high when tested but he is on a med to help them normalize. Can you give this boy the right lap to live in?? He needs very patient/knowledgeable adopters, no children- adult only because he will bite if afraid... It is a work in progress but he is becoming the goofy boy he was meant to be while living on the nasty hot and freezing porch for most of his 14 yrs :( GIVE HIM A CHANCE!!! Local adoption only $200 (in TX)
