Story
Denny is brand new to BR so we are still learning all of his things-but he came to the shelter as a stray and what we know so far is he can be a little feisty with cats selectively, seems good with other dogs, is a total snuggler, and loves to sleep with you! We also know he needs a dental and we will be headed to the vet June 12th to make sure this little man is in good health and will get that scheduled! We also know he needs a good groom but the poor man is severely matted and in rough shape. He will remain coming soon until we learn more! June 9, 2026, 4:19 pm

Story
Please read the entire bio for this rescue, it will provide all the information that one needs to decide if they would like to apply to adopt from SCMR.Adoption Fee: $300 Missy Zelda is available for adoption. She is 9 years old and weighs about 9 pounds. She is in Gainesville, Florida. --- Missy Zelda was an owner surrender, her family was no longer able to take care of her. She came to us in rough shape, but she is better now and ready for the right family to adopt her. She is safe and very much loved in her foster home. --- Missy Zelda does have some long term health issues. She was diagnosed with pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas, causing abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy). It can be triggered by high-fat foods or table scraps. It can be acute or chronic, and may require veterinary care, medications, or hospitalization if she has a flareup. She is stable now, but we have no way of knowing if she will relapse. She also has bad knees (luxating patellas). She can be seen occasionally favoring her left back leg, but it does not seem to bother her right now. Because of her age, we are not looking at surgery for her knees. She also has a heart murmur, grade 3 out of 6. For now we are monitoring it, but eventually she will probably need to be on heart medication. --- When she had her dental, she lost the 9 teeth she had, so she now has no teeth. She does just fine eating soft food. Because she has no teeth, her tongue hangs out of her mouth, and because of that she has a stained look on the right side of her nose. She also licks her feet, so they are stained as well. This is ongoing and will likely always be that way. Also, as yucky as it sounds, she will eat her poop. It can be hard to catch her, but we do our best. There is no real cure for this, the only thing that helps is picking it up right away. --- She is working on her house manners and will have accidents in the home. She was not trained by her previous owners, so she has a lifetime of doing what she wants. She will need patience and consistency. She also has an odd sound when she barks, it sounds more like a little quack. She still has a voice, and the vet does not think she has been debarked. --- We have seen that it can take several weeks for her to adjust to a new home. If you feel Missy Zelda would be a good fit for your family, knowing her health issues and her need for continued training, please fill out the online adoption application. Out-of-state adoptions are possible; however, the approved adoptive home is responsible for making the necessary arrangements to pick up their new little one.  To be considered to adopt me, please fill out an APPLICATION.  NOTE: SCMR does not adopt to homes with children under the age of 10 years or homes with Electric Fences. You can help make a difference one dog at a time. If you would like to sponsor one of our babies, we accept online donations via PayPal or send a check to us at P.O. Box 2005, Chattanooga, TN 37409. Story
Opal came to us not spayed and with a couple of mammary masses and a mass in her ovaries. We have since spayed her and had her masses removed and biopsied and all looks good! Eyes will need to be kept on her but she is ready to find her forever home-yay! Opal is suuuuch a sweet girl and loves to snuggle and is great with other dogs. Really we think she could be good with any family!  It would probably be best if Opal was in a home with no stairs-she does not like to be picked up and stairs are a challenge for her. But her fosters have been working with her on this and she is getting better. She may have some arthritis that causes her to really not liked to be picked up and this is the only time she will get grumpy. Other than that she is a sweetie and does great in a car and loves to travel!June 9, 2026, 4:19 pm

Story
Please read the entire bio for this rescue, it will provide all the information that one needs to decide if they would like to apply to adopt from SCMR.Adoption fee: $125.00   Crouton is about 13 years old and weigh 17 pounds, he is a very sweet and loving fella, he is almost totally deaf, but he can hear and respond to very loud noises.  Crouton has a lot of health issues, so he will need a home that is willing to see him through any flareups and be okay with the cost.  He is partially housetrained, and may need to wear belly bands (male diapers), he tolerates them well, they need to be changed many times a day.  A person can choose to not use them if they want, but he will lift his leg and mark.  A supply of the belly bands and pads will be provided at the time of adoption, that will be enough to last a week or more.   He enjoys to go outside, so his ideal home would be to have a nice and safe fenced yard for him to enjoy.  He was diagnosed with an intestinal disease, but he is doing great now, and the flareup seems to have passed.  He also has had ear infections, so his doctor recommends a maintenance medicine to help this, a couple of drops every few days.  He does not care for that very much, but he will let let the drops be put in both ears.   He is also prone to skin infections, so it would be crucial to make sure he is dry if a person chooses to use belly bands.   He has cysts on his shoulder and just below his ear, his doctors feel confidant they are benign, and because of his age and health, and that there are so many, we are not having them removed.   He recently had a dental, poor guy lost 15 teeth, he is healing nicely from that, we also did have one growth removed, it was an odd skin growth that was hanging about 4 inches down from his chest.  We opted to removed that one, because of it's location and that it could possibly get caught on something and possibly hurt him.   Crouton does have a bit of separation anxiety, and will get into thing, like trashcans, and will try to chew shoes, cardboard...he is not choosy!   Crouton is waiting for his forever home in Gainesville, FL.   Adoption fee: $125.00 Out-of-state adoptions are possible; however, the approved adoptive home is responsible for making the necessary arrangements to pick up their new little one.  To be considered to adopt me, please fill out an APPLICATION.  NOTE: SCMR does not adopt to homes with children under the age of 10 years or homes with Electric Fences.
