Story
Meet Aimee. She is a senior Maltese weighing only 8 lbs. She was spayed and had a dental and they pulled all of her teeth because they were so infected. She is a super sweet little angel who loves being with her person and she will bark if you leave the room without her. She is a true lap dog and loves treats and scratches. She does great with other little dogs. She is currently in a foster home but can be brought to the shelter for scheduled meet and greets.

Story
Please read the entire bio for this rescue, it will provide all the information that one needs to decide if they would like to apply to adopt from SCMR.Adoption fee - $300   Missy Zelda is available for adoption, she is 9 years old and weighs about 9 pounds.  She is in Gainesville Florida.   Missy Zelda was an owner surrender, her family was no longer able to take care of her.  She came to us in rough shape, but she is better now and ready for the right family to adopt her.  She is safe and very much loved in her foster home.   Missy Zelda does have some long term health issues:  she was diagnosed with pancreatitis (Pancreatitis in dogs is the inflammation of the pancreas, causing abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy, often triggered by high-fat foods or table scraps. It can be acute (sudden) or chronic, requiring prompt veterinary care for fluid therapy, pain management, and nutritional support to avoid severe dehydration or organ damage.) she is stable now, but we have no way of knowing if she will relapse and have a flareup.  A flareup could mean medicines, and possibly hospital care.   She also has bad knees (luxating patellas).  She can be seen occasionally favoring her back legs, but it does not seem to bother her right now.  And sadly, when she had her dental, she lost the 9 teeth she had, so she now has no teeth, but she is fine eating soft food.  Because of her age we are not looking at surgery for her knees.   Because she has no teeth, her tongue hangs out of her mouth, and because of that, she has a stained look on the right side of her nose.  And she licks her feet, so they are stained as well.  This is an ongoing issue with her, so it is likely that it will always be that way.   Also, as yucky as it sounds, she will eat her poop, it can be hard to catch her, but we try the best we can.  There is no 'cure' for this nasty habit; there are  a lot of home remedies, but the only thing that helps, is to catch her as soon as she potty's, it is unknown why some dogs do this, there is a lot of speculation, but no real answer.   And, she is working on her house manners, she WILL have accidents inside the home, she was not trained by her previous owners, so she has a lifetime of doing what she wants.   We have seen, that it will take several weeks to adjust to a new home,  if you feel Missy Zelda would be a good fit for your family, knowing her health issues and her lack of potty training, please fill out the online adoption application. Out-of-state adoptions are possible; however, the approved adoptive home is responsible for making the necessary arrangements to pick up their new little one.  To be considered to adopt me, please fill out an APPLICATION.  NOTE: SCMR does not adopt to homes with children under the age of 10 years or homes with Electric Fences. You can help make a difference one dog at a time. If you would like to sponsor one of our babies, we accept online donations via PayPal or send a check to us at P.O. Box 2005, Chattanooga, TN 37409. We thank you for whatever you can help us with. Any donation is appreciated and is tax deductible, as allowed by law,  as we are a qualified non-profit 501(c)3 organization.    All our males are sent with BELLY BANDS!    for a one time Donation that goes direct to SCMR please go to our paypal link: April 28, 2026, 10:35 am

Story
Opal came to us not spayed and with a couple of mammary masses and a mass in her ovaries. We have since spayed her and had her masses removed and biopsied and all looks good! Eyes will need to be kept on her but she is ready to find her forever home-yay! Opal is suuuuch a sweet girl and loves to snuggle and is great with other dogs. Really we think she could be good with any family!  It would probably be best if Opal was in a home with no stairs-she does not like to be picked up and stairs are a challenge for her. But her fosters have been working with her on this and she is getting better. She may have some arthritis that causes her to really not liked to be picked up and this is the only time she will get grumpy. Other than that she is a sweetie and does great in a car and loves to travel!April 27, 2026, 11:13 am
