Story
Location: Knoxville, TN area LincolnMaltese6 years old (almost 7 years old)9 poundsNeutered, UTD on vaccines, HW-Housetrained: Does well on a schedule **We do believe Lincoln is Deaf** Lincoln is a classic Velcro dog—if you’re sitting, he’s touching you; if you’re standing, he’s watching you; if you’re leaving… well, he’d really prefer you didn’t. He’s the kind of companion made for a quieter home, ideally an older couple or someone who truly enjoys being home and having a little white shadow follow them room to room. Lincoln would do best with another calm dog who doesn’t mind being snuggled and having a little sidekick glued to them. He finds comfort in quiet canine companionship and thrives in peaceful environments. What Lincoln is not is a crate dog. He absolutely hates confinement and will act a full-blown fool if crated, so a home that understands this and can manage him without a crate is a must. Because of that, Lincoln needs someone who is home a lot—retired, work-from-home, or just living that low-key life. Due to his sensitivity and need for calm surroundings, apartments, condos, and townhomes are not a good fit for Lincoln. In return, Lincoln offers loyal companionship, steady affection, and the kind of presence that makes a house feel like home. He’s not looking for excitement or chaos—just his people, a comfy spot, and the reassurance that he’s right where he belongs. We do not allow electric fencing/halo collars, runners/tethers, doggy doors ##2630912##

Toto is brand new to BR so we will learn more about him soon! He came to the shelter SEVERELY matted and anxious but was medically shaved down and seems to be ok under all of that dreadlocked coat. He is still getting settled with his foster and was just neutered before we pulled him so we need to get a bit more handle on his personality and have him vetted before we have him available for adoption but stay tuned!January 14, 2026, 12:44 pm

Story
Fluffy is a five year old Maltese mix who was constantly escaping her yard (a larger dog was making the holes) so they surrendered her to us. She weighs 18 lbs. Fluffy has taken a few days to get used to life in foster care and being inside. She is extremely sweet and is doing fine with other small dogs. She was living with a 60 lb border collie mix outside previously. Fluffy is heartworm positive and will be treated . Our first obstacle is getting her spayed. Her adoption fee is $300 After reading this pet's info, if you are still interested in adopting, please fill out the online adoption application found at realgooddogrescue.com The ideal home for this Real Good Dog will have a secure fenced yard. A solid history of excellent vet care for current or previous pets is required. Preference will be given to applicants who have specific breed experience and own their own home. Needs special attention,
Story
Please read the entire bio for this rescue, it will provide all the information that one needs to decide if they would like to apply to adopt from SCMR. Cheerio Cheerio (previously named Cymba) is a 6 yr F Maltese that was rescued from a not so good breeder situation in Virginia. She had a lot of people rooting for her and dedicated to getting her to Chattanooga, TN so she could start living the life she deserves. She even got to fly in an airplane!   She is currently fostered by Dr. Amy Holford in Chattanooga due to her range of health conditions and need for daily medications. She will continue to be fostered until she is deemed healthy and ready for adoption.   It’s going to be a long road….   Next up for Cheerio is an interventional surgery where our local cardiologist will attempt to place a coil into her patent ductus arteriosis (PDA) which should have closed at birth. Access will be through a large vein in her back leg and will need to be performed under anesthesia. She will have a one night hospital stay for her procedure. Since she has been living with this condition since she was born her heart has become enlarged and she requires two heart medications that will likely need to be continued long term. That will be based on follow up echocardiograms and recommendations from the cardiologist. This is the same heart condition that sweet baby Huckleberry had and I do believe they may be related!   In addition, Cheerio needs to have a spay, her large reducible umbilical hernia repaired and she is in desperate need of a dental with extractions.   She also has asymptomatic luxating patellas that will need to be watched long term.   Despite her medical hardships Cheerio is such a sweet, spunky, sassy and fun little girl. She loves most other dogs (only issue was my female doodle when Cheerio was in heat) especially her foster brothers (or should we say boyfriends!!) that are a Maltese, toy poodle and bichon frise! She is active and loves to get zoomies and chew on bones. She’s not huge on toys. She loves going to the dog park and anywhere you are going in the car. She can figure out how to get out of the open car windows though so if she needs to be left for a short time in the car she would be best off in a crate/kennel.   She likes wearing clothes!   She is pee pad trained and does well wearing a diaper. She will occasionally have an accident especially if you have accessible floor vent grates (I think this has to do with previously being on metal crating/grate material).   She crates up well but does bark when left alone.   She is up to date on her vaccinations.   At this time we need all the help we can get financially to provide her with her heart medications, her interventional PDA repair procedure, cardiac follow ups, as well as her spay, hernia repair, and dental.   Please click on the following link to donate to Cheerio’s ongoing care. Out-of-state adoptions are possible; however, the approved adoptive home is responsible for making the necessary arrangements to pick up their new little one.  To be considered to adopt me, please fill out an APPLICATION.  NOTE: SCMR does not adopt to homes with children under the age of 10 years or homes with Electric Fences. You can help make a difference one dog at a time. If you would like to sponsor one of our babies, we accept online donations via PayPal or send a check to us at P.O. Box 2005, Chattanooga, TN 37409. We thank you for whatever you can help us with. Any donation is appreciated and is tax deductible, as allowed by law,  as we are a qualified non-profit 501(c)3 organization.    All our males are sent with BELLY BANDS!    for a one time Donation that goes direct to SCMR please go to our paypal link: December 29, 2025, 5:49 pm
