Meet Charlie 🐾✨ Charlie is a 4-year-old Maltipoo with a big personality packed into a small, fluffy body! He was surrendered when he became a bit too much for his elderly owner—but in reality, Charlie is just an active, smart little dog who needs the right outlet for his energy. In true small dog fashion, Charlie has plenty of spunk and loves to stay busy. He’s currently living with other dogs and children in his foster home and is doing well, but he can get a little grouchy if young kids try to pick him up when he’s not into it. Because of this, we think Charlie would do best in a home without small children, or with older, respectful kids who understand boundaries. Charlie is looking for an owner who will treat him like a dog—not just a lap accessory. He’ll thrive with someone committed to giving him proper mental and physical stimulation, structure, and guidance to help him be his very best self. With the right person, Charlie will be a fun, loyal, and entertaining companion who keeps you on your toes in the best way. He is learning new people are not scary as well as learning how to handle his big feelings. He has been started on anxiety medication to help him process those big feelings. He is a complete love bug at home. He loves sitting with his person and watching TV. Fat Tony will need a patient home. He will need to continue the foundational training he is currently learning. His trainer Morgan is more than happy to give you a free lesson (or two) when you adopt him. He just needs someone to give him a chance.     UPDATE: Fat Tony is currently in a Board and Train program at Arf Limits working on his leash aggression and behavior. Watch our website for updates and videos on his progression.   Fat Tony is new in rescue. He is a 3 year old, 12 pound, Maltese (mix). He is perfect in every way except one...he doesn't like other dogs...his "inner Brooklyn" starts to show... In all seriousness, he does not like other dogs and is very reactive on leash when he meets other dogs. He will need to be in an adult only home as an only dog and a fence will be required for adoption. A privacy fence would be ideal. Fat Tony just wants to be with his people. He is sweet and affectionate in his foster home. For inquiries email april@compactcaninerescue.org Fee: $400 Location: Newport News, VA Meet Junior! Junior is a sweet, calm, senior gentleman. He is a Maltese type mix. He weighs about 12 pounds and is approximately 10 years old. (More photos to follow once he is settled) Junior was a stray at the shelter. He was being held for stray hold, then rescue placement due to his severe dental disease! He will most likely need a full mouth extraction. Junior is currently decompressing at his foster home in Newport News. He will have his dental, neuter and removal of a nodule on his tail on or before June 15th. For now he is resting, eating soft food and making new friends with his foster siblings. He will need a week or so to recover then he will be ready for adoption. Bo is an affectionate and loyal canine companion known for his calm and composed demeanor. He would thrive in a household without younger children, as the excitement they bring can cause him some stress. Bo enjoys outdoor activities and car rides, and he will alert you when someone is at the door to ensure your safety. While he does not bark excessively, he is well-trained and can be taught additional commands with the right guidance. I wish I had more time to dedicate to his training. Although Bo does not particularly enjoy having his nails trimmed, regular walks can help maintain his paw health.

He is roughly 5 years old and weighs about 8.5-9 pounds. He is a delightful little pup. Hes friendly with the resident foster brother. He loves pets and chin rubs. He lives to snuggle!! Hes walking nicely on leash, too. His house manners are improving now with a routine. George is perpetually happy. His tail swirls like a helicopter constantly. He cant wait to meet you.
