Story
Meet Elfee, a sweet 13 lb, 8-year-old Maltipoo who is ready for a fresh start. Sadly, Elfee spent three days in a lady’s backyard after being attacked on the streets of Watts. He had no collar or tag. A good Samaritan took him in and searched for his owner, but no one came forward. Shelter Hope heard his story and, after his stray hold was complete, welcomed him into our care to help him find the loving home he truly deserves. Despite everything he’s been through, Elfee is a super sweet, easygoing gentle guy who lights up whenever he gets attention. He’s very dirty from his ordeal and has some puncture wounds on his back, likely from a coyote or another dog. At his recent vet check, they discovered he has a grade 6 heart murmur, but it doesn’t stop him from enjoying cuddles, gentle play, and affection. Fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped, Elfee is looking for his forever home! --------- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers. Holly is an extremely fun, sweet, and adorable little girl. She prefers women to men but is leery of any new people until she gets to know them. Holly is crate trained and knows to potty outside. She is good with other dogs, especially males. She needs a very patient adopter who understands a shy dog that prefers to be with her person 100% of the time, as she suffers from anxiety after being abandoned.

Priscilla is a sweet and gentle senior who is searching for a loving home where she can be cherished for the rest of her life. While she does have a thinning coat & some health concerns— such as a previous pancreatic attack, age-related arthritis, and fatty lipomas— she does not let it get her down! Priscilla enjoys her walks and cuddle time, making her the perfect companion.

COURTESY POST: This dog is only available in the Santa Barbara County/western Ventura County area. Pippy is a sweet older gentleman, about 10 years old, wise but also pretty spry! He's 13 lbs. Pippy is great with other dogs big and small, and will even play with rowdy big ones. We don't know how he is with cats. He is friendly but also can be sensitive to certain handling so he is not suited to a home with children. Pippy just likes to hang out, sit on your lap, or go for a leisurely neighborhood stroll. He is good on leash. He's also housebroken, although if another dog has an accident he may follow suit. Pippy needs a dental (in the process of being scheduled) and has a bit of senior arthritis. He's also got cataracts in one eye so his night vision isn't great, but he's fine overall. His hearing is excellent. Pippy is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to go. He is available from Santa Barbara County Animal Services and is currently in foster care.
