my Maltipoo Male Cream 10 years old 12 lbs Meet Sammy, a spunky, resilient, and affectionate little dog looking for an experienced, patient forever home. Sammy’s journey hasn’t been easy—he’s physically delicate due to chronic back issues caused by past injuries, and he can be easily startled in certain situations. However, with his medications, Sammy is full of energy, life, and love. At just 12 pounds, Sammy may be small, but his personality is big. He adores long walks, zoomies around the house, and playing with toys. He’s housebroken and will let you know when he needs to go out. Inside the home, Sammy gets along well with other dogs and respects their boundaries, but he is reactive to larger dogs while on walks. For this reason, he will need a dog-savvy adopter who understands his needs and can manage these encounters with care. Sammy is also learning to feel comfortable in a crate, viewing it as his safe space. While he’s not quite fully relaxing inside, he happily goes in to retrieve a treat or eat a meal in his favorite bed before heading back out. New experiences, like meeting unfamiliar people, may make him feel uncertain, but with reassurance and time, Sammy thrives. Above all, Sammy is a cuddle bug who loves nothing more than being close to his person. He’ll light up at the sound of “Good boy!” and will eagerly seek your affection. Sammy would do best with someone who works from home or is home much of the time, as he loves companionship and does not like being left alone for long periods.Sammy may have had a tough start, but his heart is full of love and his spirit is strong. Meet Eugene! This adorable poodle mix is loyal, goofy, affectionate, handsome, energetic, smart, snuggly, fluffy - basically the whole package. Eugene's foster family describes him as "the stereotypically perfect dog." If you're looking for a dog who will be active when you want to be active and snuggly when you want to be snuggly, Eugene's your man. He takes his job as his foster mom's shadow very seriously and follows her everywhere to make sure she doesn't get up to anything fun without him. He is also a smartie pants who is housebroken and knows basic commands. Eugene LOVES being outside, and if he can't be outside he loves staring at it and smelling it through an open window. His ideal forever home will have a fenced in yard so he can enjoy the fresh air as much as possible. He loves to take long walks, make new human and canine friends (he's never met a stranger), and go out for fun adventures. He's great on the leash as well as in the car. Eugene also absolutely adores people. He loves to snuggle with his foster parents and have them pet him until he falls asleep snoring - he is truly one of the most loving and affectionate dogs ever. His ideal household will be full of people who are home most of the time to love him and be loved by him. He would also love another dog to play with! Eugene is approximately 10 years old and 27 lbs. Meet Julie! She is a sweet, beautiful, playful girl who has had a rough go of it and is looking for her soft landing spot. Julie was purchased in New York City, a tiny, delicate poodle bought as a breeding dog to make her owners money. But when she managed to escape and landed in a shelter, her owners had a choice: get her the medical care required by the shelter to bring her home or leave her behind. They chose to leave her behind. Julie has settled into the routine at her foster home and is keeping everyone entertained with her love of toys. She hoards them in her "den" (open crate) and takes care of them as if they were her babies. She also loves trying to snatch things off of the coffee table to add to her collection! Julie has some vision and neurological deficits that will likely be lifelong, although we have seen improvement as she's become more comfortable and confident. We believe they were likely caused by trauma in her previous life. Julie's forever home needs to be a safe space where she can just be herself, with humans who can help her navigate the world in her own way. She needs a home with a fenced-in yard as her neurological challenges make leashed walks difficult. She's working on her housetraining and making great progress, and is fine staying home alone when her people are out. Julie's ideal home will be generally calm and quiet, with humans who love to snuggle with her and can provide her with the structure and routine she needs to thrive. Meet Sarah! This sweet, precious girl is learning what love and kindness feel like for the first time. Before coming to Miri's Haven, Sarah spent her life in a tiny wire cage with a backyard breeder who hoped to profit from her. Even though she couldn't produce puppies, she was still confined to the cage year after year. Now safe in foster care, this brave little soul is discovering what it means to be loved, cherished, and free. She is receiving tons of pampering and beginning to understand that life can be leisurely and beautiful - no wire cages in sight, only the finest puppy beds (and maybe a human bed or two!). Sarah is still getting used to interacting with humans. While she isn't sold on too much petting or snuggling just yet, she always wants to be nearby and loves a bedtime head scratch. She is a joyful girl and LOVES playing with toys and rolling around in dog beds. Her favorite sleeping position? On her back with her tongue out, snoring so everyone can hear just how content she is. Sarah absolutely loves food - when she's about to get a treat, she does the most adorable and impressive tap dance to celebrate. She also loves time exploring the yard with her foster sister. She's not housetrained but is happy to wear diapers inside, and she gets along well with both cats and dogs. She walks well on the leash and is happy riding in the car or staying home while her people are out. She is looking for a family who can be patient with her as she learns to navigate her new world and help build her confidence. She thrives on consistent routines and will do best in a calm, gentle home - ideally one that has a fenced in yard and humans who are home much of the time. Sarah has been gaining confidence from dogs who are around her size, so we think she would do best in a home with at least one other fur sibling. Sarah is looking for a forever home filled with plenty of space and the kindest humans we can find. She deserves so much love and we know the right forever family will find her soon - could it be yours? Sarah is approximately 10 years old and 7lbs.
