Story
Meet Heidi! Heidi is an incredible little lady who has endured unimaginable trauma, yet somehow remains one of the sweetest, feistiest, most playful dogs you will ever meet. Abuse and neglect left Heidi with fur so severely matted that it cut off circulation to her feet. When the mats were finally clipped away, what they revealed was heartbreaking. Both of Heidi’s back feet were gone. They were not surgically removed and there were no clean lines or careful stitches. Our veterinarian believes the matting wrapped so tightly around her feet that it slowly and painfully cut them off over time. But that is only a very small part of who Heidi is. Heidi greets everyone she meets with enthusiasm. She will walk right up to say hello and from there it is straight out of the book "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie." If you say hi to Heidi, she will want you to pet her. If you pet her, she will want a belly rub. If you give her a belly rub, she will want to play. Her favorite game is “spicy fingers,” where she gently gums your hands. Once she has had enough playtime, she is more than happy to curl up for snuggles. Heidi absolutely loves other dogs and quickly claimed Apple, another Haven senior girl with unusable hind legs, as her best friend and favorite wrestling partner. Watching these two dogs who have both been through so much trauma play together without a care in the world is truly awe inspiring. Heidi would love a home with at least one gently playful canine sibling. She’s met cats and barked at them at little, but seems to be able to coexist with them peacefully. Despite everything she has been through, Heidi is quite mobile and gets around the house surprisingly well. She is learning to use a wheelchair and tolerates it nicely, although right now she has mostly only mastered going backwards. Because of her condition, Heidi cannot navigate stairs and will need a home without steps or a person who can safely carry her outside. Joint supplements will help support her but no medications or prescriptions are required at this time. Heidi will also need a fenced yard where she can explore, since pavement can be rough on what remains of her hind legs. She is very smart and has already figured out how to navigate to a potty pad and to the water bowl, but she will need a caregiver who can help her move safely through daily life and keep her back nubs clean and protected. Heidi’s spirit is nothing short of remarkable. She is an endless supply of joy, laughter, inspiration, and love. We cannot wait to see who is lucky enough to welcome this extraordinary girl into their home. Heidi is approximately 9 years old and 12 lbs. Fostered in Rockville, MD Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Story
Meet Remy, the Southern Gentleman who will dazzle you with his winning smile! This 16-month-old Dachshund/Maltese mix is pure charm from nose to tail, with his fluffy white coat, one distinguished gray eye patch, and a tail that doesn`t quit. Watching Remy run is a treat all by itself—his short little legs bounce along like a cartoon character on a mission, and it`s impossible not to laugh. When playtime is over, this sweet boy transforms into a world-class cuddle expert. His favorite place to be is snuggled up next to his people, preferably burrowed under a cozy blanket where he can soak up all the love. He also gets along wonderfully with other dogs and cats, greeting them politely and respecting their boundaries like the little gentleman he is.Remy is still building confidence in a few areas, and he`s looking for a family that will help him continue making progress. He`s fully house-trained as long as he stays on a regular schedule, since he`s not the best at letting you know when it`s time to head outside. He`s also working on crate training—he`ll happily hang out in his crate with the door open, but if it`s closed, he may serenade you with his impressive howling skills because being away from his people is not his favorite thing. New people can make him a little shy at first, but if they`re patient and let him come to them, he`s soon asking for pets. And while `sit` remains an unsolved mystery (we`re convinced his adorable little hot dog body is partly to blame!), Remy more than makes up for it with his affectionate personality, sweet nature, and endless supply of snuggles. If you’d like to take this pupper home, please fill out an adoption application at this link – https://animalalliesrescue.org/dog-application. The adoption fee is $350 and covers all expenses needed to prepare dogs like this one for their forever homes. By the time you meet them, they’ve already been spayed/neutered (if age-appropriate) and microchipped. They’ve been checked by a veterinarian and are up to date on necessary vaccinations, including Rabies and DHLPP. They have also been tested for heartworm and tick-borne diseases and have started heartworm and flea preventative medication. Some of our dogs have even undergone extensive medical care to ensure they’re ready for a happy, healthy life with you!

Story
Fiona may only weigh six pounds, but this little princess has a personality that`s larger than life! This adorable Maltese mix is somewhere between 3-7 years old (best guess from our vets), and is equal parts cuddle bug, playful companion, and professional kiss-giver. She loves being doted on (as every princess should!), whether she`s lounging in your arms, running around the yard, sneaking in a nap, or charming everyone she meets with her sweet nature. Fiona gets along well with dogs of all sizes, is polite with cats, and happily hands out kisses to children.Fiona is looking for a family that appreciates the little things in life, like cozy snuggles and happy tail wags. She`s almost completely house-trained, happily settles into her crate when her people are away, and is content to stroll on a leash—at least until she decides she`s walked quite enough, thank you very much! She doesn`t know many formal commands yet, but her gentle temperament and eagerness to be with her people make her a wonderful companion. Fiona will occasionally give a soft little growl if another pet is getting on her nerves, preferring to politely set boundaries rather than start any drama. She`s also not a fan of fireworks or thunderstorms and appreciates a little extra comfort when the world gets noisy. With her dental care being completed and her sweet personality shining brighter every day, Fiona is ready to rule her forever home with kindness, cuddles, and just the right amount of royal charm. If you’d like to take this pupper home, please fill out an adoption application at this link – https://animalalliesrescue.org/dog-application. Story
This cute little scruffy guy is Tino, and he’s ready to find his forever family! Tino is great in his kennel and potty trained, which is always a wonderful bonus! He may take a minute to warm up to new people, but once he decides you’re his friend, get ready for the silliest, happiest little personality. 🥰 He’s curious about the world around him and loves getting to know his surroundings. He has been a little nervous and unsure around toddlers, so we think he’d do best with respectful older kids or adults who can give him time to feel comfortable. Once Tino warms up, his goofy side comes out—and that adorable scruffy little face is hard to resist! Local adoption fee is $350(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $650 (includes transport to your area)
