A loving five-year-old Maremma/Kelpie/Catahoula Leopard Dog mix currently in Holliston, MA, whose essence is a bright blend of loyalty, intelligence, and gentle sweetness wrapped in a white coat dotted with striking black patches. This expressive girl has a way of communicating with her eyes and body language that feels almost like a conversation, making every shared moment feel special!
Hjerte enjoys life’s simple pleasures with enthusiasm. She bursts into joyful zoomies when excitement strikes, happily chews on her favorite bones, and leans in for affection with a calm, content presence. With a medium energy level, she balances playful bursts with relaxed companionship, often choosing to stay close to her people or quietly patrol her surroundings like a devoted guardian.
She is well-versed in obedience training and confidently responds to sit, stay, lie down, and come. Hjerte thrives with structure and purpose, and she truly shines when given a “job,” whether that is practicing commands, joining long walks, or watching over a fenced yard. Her routine suits her well, with twice-daily meals she prefers to graze on and restful nights spent comfortably in her crate.
Hjerte is friendly with people, including young children, and forms deep bonds with those around her. She is also comfortable being left alone for short periods, though she appreciates a consistent presence in her daily life. She is house-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations, and she may require occasional care to manage a tendency toward UTIs due to her hooded vulva.
Hjerte would thrive in a loving home where she can be the only dog, allowing her to fully relax and focus on her connection with her family. She has had challenging interactions with other dogs, including a bite incident with a smaller dog and moments of resource guarding with another similar-sized dog, so she would benefit from a caregiver who understands her need for space and can support her with continued positive reinforcement and thoughtful management.
