Meet Balto 💙 (6 years young, Mastiff mix, professional heart-stealer)Tall, dark, and handsome with a gentle soul. I'm Balto, an intelligent, affectionate guy who's ready to settle down and build something meaningful. I've got that mature charm that only comes with life experience, and I know how to appreciate the good things: quality time, cozy moments, and being close to my favorite people.I'm a quick learner who loves engaging with my humans, whether that's training, enrichment, or just hanging out together. I'm known for being sweet, gentle, and deeply loyal-once you're my person, I'm all in. I thrive on connection and affection, and I'm happiest when I can share my day with someone who enjoys a calm, loving companion. My ideal match? Someone who enjoys a bit of space (bonus points for a yard), values companionship, and is ready for a devoted relationship built on patience, structure, and lots of love. If you're looking for a kind-hearted, mature gentleman who will be by your side through thick and thin, I might just be your perfect matchPlease come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet me. Story
Hi! I'm Hazelnut — but you can call me Hazie! 🌰 I'm a happy, friendly, outgoing 10-week-old pup who loves meeting new people and making friends wherever I go. I look up to my canine foster sister and am learning how to be a confident girl, and I even share my home with a cat — I'm very respectful of her and respond well to her cues. House training is still a work in progress (I am a baby after all!), and while crate training hasn't been my favorite, I'm trying hard and improving every day. I do like to use my voice to share my thoughts, so a condo or apartment may not be the best fit for me. I'm happiest when I'm cuddled up with my people or my foster sister, so another dog in the home could be a great match. I'm also a smart cookie — I already know sit, touch, sitting at the door, and I'm working on "leave it." Bonus: I'm very food motivated, which makes training extra fun! If you're looking for a loving, cuddly pup with a big personality, I might be your perfect match 💖

Story
Beauty is a 2-year-old mastiff sweetheart weighing about 55 lbs, with a gentle soul and a thoughtful, observant nature. She appears to do well with other dogs and is great with older kids, though she hasn't been tested with younger children yet. Cats are untested, and she's shown interest in rabbits, so a small-pet–free home may be best. She's a polite leash walker and a very nice sitter, making outings calm and manageable—especially on quiet trail walks, which she prefers 🌲. Beauty does well crated overnight and is housetrained, though she does enjoy chewing and will happily "redecorate" stuffies given the chance 🧸😄 She can be a bit stubborn or wilful at times, but that's all part of her charm. Beauty is low to moderate energy and can be nervous with big arm movements or when she's outside of the house, so she'll thrive with patient, gentle humans who let her build confidence at her own pace. She doesn't care for water (puddles and baths are a hard no 🚫💦) or car rides, but she loves peanut butter, chasing frisbees, and settling in with her people 🥜🐶 If you're looking for a loyal, quirky companion who enjoys peaceful walks and cozy time at home, Beauty might just be your perfect match ✨

Story
Let me introduce myself...I am Duke and I was found in Mission by my previous loving rescuer about 9 months ago. I was severely under weight but I have since gained back that weight and a sense of joy in living. My previous rescuer couldn't keep me because I and the other dog in the household have recently not been getting along. I was then placed elsewhere about 3 hrs out of Vancouver.  I am praised for being wonderful with all people, including young children. I love cuddles, forest adventures, and often acting goofy to the point where I will make my humans laugh. I am still learning recall but I do know sit, stay, lie down, and shake a paw. Here are a few specifics about me: Weight: 120 lbs      Age: 6 yrs old      Height:  TBC       Breed:  Great Pyrenees/mastiff       Energy level:  moderate Leash-walking: Yes but please be ready to help me learn even more     House-trained: Yes, but please help me to learn in my new home. Fears: sometimes I will cower if there is a sudden movement made by someone around me. Even though my history is largely unknown, it is apparent that I was likely hit. As a result, I have some lingering separation anxiety but I would love my new adopter to help me to recover from that. Until I get some help, I'm hoping I can come with my humans when they go out as I just love car rides. I am needing to be the only dog in the household as I can have a moment of food aggression with other dogs being fed near me. In contrast, I have neighbours who are chickens and I have never shown any interest in these feathered folks.  I know that I'm not a perfect dog but I would love to meet you to show you what I do best, be it hugs, playfulness, or adoration! I am immunized, neutered, and microchipped.  My adoption fee is $750 plus taxes. I have been neuetered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. ##2466535##
