Story
We are having a big adoption event this Saturday, April 27th with 50% off adoptions and will be closed this Friday, April 26th to get the shelter ready. Online applications will not be considered during this weekend event (April 27th and 28th). Priority will be given to people coming in during visiting hours. Our visiting hours are:Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 12-4:30 (Closed Friday, April 26th)Thursday, Public Holidays: closedSaturday, Sunday: 12-4**Adoption Profile: Gus**Meet Gus, a charming 10-month-old Mastiff Hound mix with a heart as big as his paws! This gentle giant may be a bit timid around other dogs due to his past experiences, but he's an absolute people-lover and a devoted lap dog at heart.Currently, Gus is in the process of learning obedience skills, as his previous training has been minimal. He's eager to please and would benefit from continued training to help build his confidence and manners. Gus is a nature enthusiast who absolutely adores his walks, especially when exploring the woods. He would thrive in a home where he can enjoy regular outdoor adventures. Given his nervousness around other dogs, Gus would do best as the only pet in a household. While we haven't tested him with cats, his gentle nature suggests he might get along with a confident feline companion. One thing Gus can't resist? Treats! He's incredibly food motivated, which can be a fun and effective way to bond with him while continuing his training. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion who's ready to embark on outdoor adventures and snuggle up on the couch, Gus could be the perfect match for you! Come meet this sweet boy and see if you can give him the forever home he deserves. Primary Color: Red Secondary Color: Black Weight: 32.6 Age: 0yrs 11mths 0wks

Story
This gorgeous girl is awaiting her forever home. Daphne came in feeling a little shy with her new surroundings but has since started to come out of her shell and would do well in a quiet home. She is slow to greet people but once she is comfortable, she is very cuddly. She loves ear scratches and belly rubs as well as playing catch outside. She seems to warm up to other dogs quickly however we are unsure how she would do with cats. If you think she would be the perfect dog for you, please fill out an application here: https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/application-forms/Or reach out to the center for more information at 250-509-0297 Primary Color: Grey Secondary Color: Blue Weight: 35.4 Age: 0yrs 10mths 3wks

Story
Meet Kazoo! 💖Meet Kazoo, the majestic brindle mastiff with a heart as grand as her stature! At 4 years young, Kazoo is a gentle giantess, boasting a stunning coat that mirrors the earthy hues of a twilight forest. This loving soul carries the wisdom of her breed, paired with a unique zest for life that's all her own. Kazoo would do best with a confident family where she can be the center of attention. This beautiful girl loves her people, and spends her days playing fetch and cuddling staff and volunteers. She is not suited to a home with other animals, as she can be selective towards dogs and does not like cats. Kids make Kazoo nervous, so an adult only home is best. She is a smart girl who has improved SO much since entering our care and we can only imagine what being with a dedicated parent will do for her! Breed experience is an asset, as she is a big girl with some quirks. Her hobbies include ambling through leafy trails, where she wears her brindle coat like camouflage, becoming one with the natural world. She's a connoisseur of treat tasting, always up for sampling the latest in canine cuisine, and she holds a special fondness for puzzle toys that challenge her sharp mind. Kazoo is seeking a forever home that shares her love for peaceful moments and joyous adventures in equal measure. She dreams of a family that will cherish her gentle nature, guide her with kindness, and offer her the throne she deserves in their hearts and home. If you're looking for a loyal companion to add warmth and wonder to your life, Kazoo is ready to fill that spot with her grand presence and tender soul.If you think you have enough space in your home and heart for this lovely girl, apply online today!✨ Primary Color: Brindle Secondary Color: Black Weight: 47.7 Age: 3yrs 11mths 0wks

Story
Arrr matey, PIRATE (Pirouz) here and 'ere be a bit of info aboot me:Breed : Persian MastiffAge : 1 yr (xmas baby)Gender : maleWeight : 110 lbs Height : 43 inchesHighlights: tripaw, intelligent, fast learner, calm Being an intelligent boy and very eager to please I am a very quick learner.   Sadly, I was dropped at the door of a rescue in the Middle East. I was abandoned by my owner because of my disability.Currently I am being fostered in a rescue area garden. I'd love to be with a family of my own and be welcome inside a home for the first time in my lifeYou will notice I only have 3 legs. Apparently I lost it in some unknown accident. I get around pretty well though. Being young, I am learning to adapt well. It is altogether possible you could get me a prosthetic leg and I could then race around like any other dog. My Canadian rescuer has kindly offered to pay for any expenses such as a splint or artificial leg so anyone who adopts me will not have to incur those costs. I am a calm boy and quite a kind soul. I get along with dogs, cats & kids. Being a chilled out kind of guy, I bet snuggling could be on the top of our hit parade list. You will find the phrase "gentle giant" suits me to a tee.  New vids of me Dec 2023: https://youtube.com/shorts/7MCPu7mFKAY?si=MrI2ZL05uzYrb0wH, https://youtube.com/shorts/ukf8uPdL8VM?si=UjMvofdU2uvv81kQ, https://youtube.com/shorts/MjuyiFjEygg?si=xRxLdyATflw2Bgse. Energy Level: moderate - mellow for a young dog I get along with:Dogs: yesCats: yesKids: yes Fears: none observed. Please be patient with me during my transition. Training: none yetLeash skills: no. Please be prepared to train me.House trained: no. Please help me learn. Health notes: I have a missing lower front leg and weakened ankle on the good side.I am neutered and fully vaccinated.  My adoption fee is $400.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. [MID-EAST DOGS] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. ##1717423##
