Story
Meet Kronk!Kronk is a 2-year-old, fun-loving go-getter who believes life is best enjoyed right by your side. He's a friendly, playful guy who loves making new friends, chasing toys, and sniffing out treats. Loyal to the core, Kronk is happiest when he's close to his people and part of the action.Kronk found his way into the BCSPA with a broken leg requiring urgent medical care. Thankfully, with the help of wonderful donors like you, Kronk was able to save his leg and get the much needed FHO surgery he required! What Kronk is looking for:- A calm, patient home with a predictable routine.- A house with a yard to provide exercise and potty breaks hands off. Kronk has had a few scenarios with staff and is becoming jumpy and mouthy, so a safe enclosed yard is ideal while he settles into his new home.- A family that can spend plenty of time with him, and won't leave him for long periods.- Continued positive-reinforcement training with an AnimalKind trainer.- Help with recovering from his recent surgery (FHO), and working with a vet on his anxiety-reducing medication. Kronk has become frustrated living and recovering in the centre setting and needs a home that can manage him and give him safe options for enrichment and exercise. If you're looking for a devoted companion with a joyful spirit, Kronk might just be your guy! Stop by the shelter between 12pm-3pm Tuesday-Sunday to meet him in person. We welcome online applications, but we prioritize in-person meetings and applications. Story
Callie is the most loving sweetest girl. We got her at 8 weeks old and not long after my husband suffered a massive stroke, so she's not had any training or as much attention as she should have. She's a huge lap dog, sleeps on our bed, she's about 120 lbs, not fixed, and I put adult XL depends on her when she's in heat. She's great with having her feet wiped, or when we take her to a dog groomer to have her nails trimmed. We all love her very much (we have 3 adult daughters who live in their own homes), but we also all know that I have my hands full already - I've worked full time from home Callie's whole life, and also because of my husband we don't every go anywhere except once in awhile, so she's used to being with someone. We recently moved from a house to a condo as I can't take care of a yard anymore, but now I have to try walk her early in the morning before work, and leaving my husband alone while I do it, it's all wearing on me. My husband needs me healthy to take care of him.

Story
Ducky is a big, lovable boy with an even bigger personality! This handsome pup is truly a "big puppy" at heart-full of enthusiasm, joy, and affection. He brings a fun, goofy energy wherever he goes and is sure to keep his future family smiling.Ducky is a strong boy who will thrive with a dog-savvy owner committed to continuing his training. He's currently learning his basics and is doing wonderfully with positive reinforcement and Animalkind training methods. He responds best to calm, kind energy and truly blossoms when his people are patient, consistent, and encouraging.Ducky is dog-social and enjoys canine friends, though he can be exuberant in his play style. Because of his size and enthusiasm, he would do best in a home without small animals. Primary Color: Tan Weight: 37.5 Age: 0yrs 9mths 1wks

Story
Beauty is a 2-year-old mastiff sweetheart weighing about 55 lbs, with a gentle soul and a thoughtful, observant nature. She appears to do well with other dogs and is great with older kids, though she hasn't been tested with younger children yet. Cats are untested, and she's shown interest in rabbits, so a small-pet–free home may be best. She's a polite leash walker and a very nice sitter, making outings calm and manageable—especially on quiet trail walks, which she prefers 🌲. Beauty does well crated overnight and is housetrained, though she does enjoy chewing and will happily "redecorate" stuffies given the chance 🧸😄 She can be a bit stubborn or wilful at times, but that's all part of her charm. Beauty is low to moderate energy and can be nervous with big arm movements or when she's outside of the house, so she'll thrive with patient, gentle humans who let her build confidence at her own pace. She doesn't care for water (puddles and baths are a hard no 🚫💦) or car rides, but she loves peanut butter, chasing frisbees, and settling in with her people 🥜🐶 If you're looking for a loyal, quirky companion who enjoys peaceful walks and cozy time at home, Beauty might just be your perfect match ✨

Story
Let me introduce myself...I am Duke and I was found in Mission by my previous loving rescuer about 9 months ago. I was severely under weight but I have since gained back that weight and a sense of joy in living. My previous rescuer couldn't keep me because I and the other dog in the household have recently not been getting along. I was then placed elsewhere about 3 hrs out of Vancouver.  I am praised for being wonderful with all people, including young children. I love cuddles, forest adventures, and often acting goofy to the point where I will make my humans laugh. I am still learning recall but I do know sit, stay, lie down, and shake a paw. Here are a few specifics about me: Weight: 120 lbs      Age: 6 yrs old      Height:  TBC       Breed:  Great Pyrenees/mastiff       Energy level:  moderate Leash-walking: Yes but please be ready to help me learn even more     House-trained: Yes, but please help me to learn in my new home. Fears: sometimes I will cower if there is a sudden movement made by someone around me. Even though my history is largely unknown, it is apparent that I was likely hit. As a result, I have some lingering separation anxiety but I would love my new adopter to help me to recover from that. Until I get some help, I'm hoping I can come with my humans when they go out as I just love car rides. I am needing to be the only dog in the household as I can have a moment of food aggression with other dogs being fed near me. In contrast, I have neighbours who are chickens and I have never shown any interest in these feathered folks.  I know that I'm not a perfect dog but I would love to meet you to show you what I do best, be it hugs, playfulness, or adoration! I am immunized, neutered, and microchipped.  My adoption fee is $750 plus taxes. I have been neuetered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. ##2466535##
