Story
Chunk is a sweet boy who is looking for a calm, patient home where he can continue to build his confidence and feel safe. While he can be a bit nervous when meeting new people or experiencing new things, he has already been showing progress and is becoming more comfortable each day. Chunk is looking for a very specific home where he can be the one and only pet. He is not suited to living with other dogs or animals, and will need a dog-free home to feel comfortable and secure. He also isn't a match for a home with children. Chunk truly shines when he has all of your attention to himself, and he will reward that with endless affection and loyalty. The good news is that Chunk is easy to handle on leash and has been cooperative and gentle with staff. He's the kind of dog who will truly benefit from a steady routine, positive reinforcement, and someone who will give him the time he needs to come out of his shell.Chunk has a lot of potential and so much love to give-he's just looking for the right person to help him feel safe and confident. With patience and understanding, he's sure to blossom into a wonderful companion. Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 41.5 Age: 1yrs 3mths 3wks

Story
Kronk is a fun-loving go-getter who believes life is best enjoyed right by your side. He's a friendly, playful guy who loves making new friends, chasing toys, and sniffing out treats. Loyal to the core, Kronk is happiest when he's close to his people and part of the action.Kronk found his way into the BCSPA with a broken leg requiring urgent medical care. Thankfully, with the help of wonderful donors like you, Kronk was able to save his leg and get the much needed FHO surgery he required! He has now healed from this and is doing very well!Kronk is a big, boistrous boy with lots of energy, so he is looking for a house with a yard so that he can zoom around without knocking over furniture. He needs an experienced owner with a predictable routine and plenty of time to work with Kronk on his manners, and he would love to have a couple of sessions with an AnimalKind trainer to continue his learning with positive reinforcement! If you're looking for a devoted companion guaranteed to bring a smile to your face, Kronk might just be the dog for you!If you are interested in meeting with this sweet boy, please send in your online application! Story
Meet Honky Tonk! Honky is a 1 year old Mastiff/Pitbull mix searching for his furrever home. Honky came to us as a stray, so his past is a mystery. What we do know about him is that he is the goofiest good boy around! Honky is a mix of several large, powerful breeds, and he won't let his people forget that. Honky is still learning his basic manners and has a serious habit of jumping on his own invisible mini trampoline when he is excited. Honky knows the basics like sit and lie down but needs ongoing training in order to become a mature and fulfilled adult dog. Honky is very treat motivated and becomes a much better student when treats are around! At heart he is a silly, goofy, and loveable giant, and when he is with his people, his true colours really shine. He is a bright and affectionate boy who is eager to please. He is eagerly awaiting a guardian who will commit the time and energy to help him become the dog he is meant to be! Honky is at the age where training and routine are critical, he would benefit from ongoing socialization, training, enrichment, ample exercise and a structured routine to rely on. Honky would love a warm bed to snuggle up on after a play session or long walk- he is a boy with high exercise needs, so any prospective adopters should be prepared for the high-energy requirements of his breeds. Honky is presumed to be a Mastiff/Pitbull mix, but we cannot be 100% sure without a DNA test. Honky's ideal guardian would be someone who has breed experience or experience with large, powerful working breeds. Honky is not suited to a home with small children or first-time dog owners due to his size and excitability.Honky Tonk currently has Happy Tail- A condition where an injury to the tail is unable to heal due to movement, size, and activity. Because of this, Honky Tonk is available for Foster-To-Adopt while he awaits his tail amputation Surgeryon April 22nd**If you think Honky Tonk could be the right fit for you, please fill out an application below:https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-kamloops/**TIP!!!: We encourage all applicants to write a little bit about themselves when prompted. Leaving these sections empty limits our ability to make the best match possible, and drastically affects the likelihood of receiving a call back.** Primary Color: Brown Weight: 36.9 Age: 1yrs 0mths 4wks

Ducky thrives on attention, encouragement, and being part of the action. He's happiest when he's learning, playing, and sharing his big heart with those he loves. This strong, lovable guy is looking for a dog-savvy human who will continue guiding him with positive reinforcement training methods as he grows into his very best self. He's already doing an amazing job learning his basic! With guidance and consistency, Ducky absolutely shines! He wants to do well and make his people proud.Ducky also enjoys the company of other dogs and can be quite the social butterfly, though his play style is enthusiastic and full of that signature "big puppy" energy. Because of his size and zest for life, he'll do best in a home without small animals, where he has the space and understanding to truly thrive. If you're looking for a big, goofy, affectionate best friend who will keep you laughing, keep you active, and love you with his whole entire heart, Ducky is more than ready to be your boy. 💛 Put in an application today to see if you could be his match! Story
Let me introduce myself...I am Duke and I was found in Mission by my previous loving rescuer about 9 months ago. I was severely under weight but I have since gained back that weight and a sense of joy in living. My previous rescuer couldn't keep me because I and the other dog in the household have recently not been getting along. I was then placed elsewhere about 3 hrs out of Vancouver.  I am praised for being wonderful with all people, including young children. I love cuddles, forest adventures, and often acting goofy to the point where I will make my humans laugh. I am still learning recall but I do know sit, stay, lie down, and shake a paw. Here are a few specifics about me: Weight: 120 lbs      Age: 6 yrs old      Height:  TBC       Breed:  Great Pyrenees/mastiff       Energy level:  moderate Leash-walking: Yes but please be ready to help me learn even more     House-trained: Yes, but please help me to learn in my new home. Fears: sometimes I will cower if there is a sudden movement made by someone around me. Even though my history is largely unknown, it is apparent that I was likely hit. As a result, I have some lingering separation anxiety but I would love my new adopter to help me to recover from that. Until I get some help, I'm hoping I can come with my humans when they go out as I just love car rides. I am needing to be the only dog in the household as I can have a moment of food aggression with other dogs being fed near me. In contrast, I have neighbours who are chickens and I have never shown any interest in these feathered folks.  I know that I'm not a perfect dog but I would love to meet you to show you what I do best, be it hugs, playfulness, or adoration! I am immunized, neutered, and microchipped.  My adoption fee is $750 plus taxes. I have been neuetered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. ##2466535##
