Story
Grizelda is a 5 year old, 75 pound mastiff mix looking for her forever home! This sweet girl loves belly rubs, making new friends, chasing toys, and zooming happily through the grass. She is also a sucker for a nice sun bathing session! She’s a smart cookie who enjoys puzzle feeders and other activities that challenge her mind as well!Grizelda has a bright, friendly personality and adores everyone she meets! However, she can be a little head-shy and sensitive to stern voices, so she’s looking for a patient, gentle home where she can feel safe and build confidence at her own pace. In return, she’ll reward you with love, loyalty, and plenty of joyful moments. Her ideal home will provide both mental and physical enrichment, along with lots of kindness and affection. If you’re ready to give Grizelda the comfort and care she deserves, she just might be your perfect match!Grizelda will need to return to us at a later date for a procedure called an FHO (femoral head ostectomy), which will help address her current orthopedic condition and improve her long-term comfort and mobility. In the meantime, we feel it’s very beneficial for her to begin settling into a home environment. Building a bond with her adopters ahead of surgery can make a big difference in reducing stress and supporting a smoother recovery process afterward. To help prepare her for surgery and recovery, we recommend starting gentle PROM (passive range of motion) exercises at home on her unaffected (“good”) leg. This will help her get used to handling and movement, which will be an important part of her rehabilitation after surgery. Our team is happy to demonstrate these exercises and answer any questions so you feel confident doing them.We will coordinate closely with you regarding timing for her return, surgery, and post-operative care.Grizelda`s adoption fee has been sponsored in memory of Miles of Smiles!I don`t have a history with dogs and may do well with yours with a proper introduction.I don`t have a history with cats and may do well with yours with a slow introduction. I don`t have a history with children and may do well with proper management.

Story
My Kennel Is Lying About MeDon`t judge Pogi by his kennel performance—he`s putting on a one-dog Broadway show in there! When you first pass his kennel, you might see a pogo-stick pup bouncing up and down, eager to catch your attention. But once he`s out? It`s a whole different story.Pogi settles into a fun, enjoyable walking buddy who loves getting out to explore the world. He`s treat motivated, already knows `sit,` and likes to mix playtime with moments of quietly taking in his surroundings. He also takes his self-appointed job as Chief Squirrel Security Officer very seriously. If there`s a squirrel in the yard, Pogi believes it`s his duty to monitor the situation! Because of his strong prey drive, a home without cats would be the best fit. He`s also an accomplished chain-linked fence climber, so he`ll need a secure 6-foot (or taller) wooden fence and supervision when outdoors.Pogi`s excitement in the kennel isn`t who he is—it`s simply a young, energetic dog with cabin fever. Give him a chance outside, and you`ll discover a sweet, smart boy who`s ready to trade shelter walls for a backyard to patrol and a family to love. This cutie boy has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in his new home.  Looking for a buddy for your dog?  Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we`re a match!  Check out his playgroup video here:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. I look forward to getting to know you!
