You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  DOB: 08/02/2017 Requires another dog in home: No Okay with dogs of all sizes: His size or smaller Okay with cats: No Okay with children under 12 years old: Yes Weight: 75 lbs Food Fed: Raw Bistro Requires a fenced yard:   No Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello! My name is Zeus and I have one of the most handsome faces you will ever see! I came to MN from a shelter in Arkansas and I’m so happy my friends at Underdog are taking such great care of me! I wasn’t in the best shape and my dear foster family is feeding me healthy foods, giving me medicated baths to take care of my skin issues and helping me heal. You would not believe how much my skin has healed and how amazing it feels to have healthy fur!  When I came, I had very little fur and my vet team thinks I was eating bad foods (maybe from eating off the streets) and was malnourished.  They also think I was having issues that were caused from past over use of antibiotics because some meds we tried didn't seem to phase me.  I don't recall my full past, so it's been quite the journey, but this new life full of love and attention is just SO great! I cant wait for my own forever family to find me.   I am great with all the other dogs in my foster home – there are an assortment of dogs and I am a very gentle and good boy with everyone. I like to clean their ears and be near my friends. I love to play with dogs my size, but because my medication I can become a little overstimulated over food or super yummy treats so will need to be supervised. I was very malnourished before coming to Underdog so put a lot of value on my food. To help with this, all the dogs in my foster home are fed separately. Speaking of meal time – I do have a special diet so my skin issues don’t flair up again. I like Raw Bistro beef or bison. My foster family has tried so many foods before they found one that wouldn’t irritate my skin. We tried kibble, canned food, vet prescribed food and thankfully found a quality raw food. I love it! I will need my forever family to continually monitor my skin issues and be in touch with a vet if I start to have flair ups again. My ideal home would have dogs my size or smaller that will respect my space when I have food or treats. I don’t really like getting bossed around so a dog that doesn’t demonstrate dominate traits would be a good match. I am doing great with all my dog skills – I am crate trained and potty trained. But … I have a little secret. I do dribble a little pee when I sleep so my people put a potty pad in my bed just in case. Embarrassing, right? I’m trying my best but likely it is because my medications. I don’t need a fenced yard in my forever home but would appreciate it so we can run around the play. All I need now is a forever home with lots of patience, unconditional love and a big ol’ dog bed for me to relax. Can’t wait to meet you! Read more about my preferred food here:  https://dogfoodreviews.com/raw-bistro-dog-food-reviews/raw-raw-bistro/raw-bistro-grain-free-beef-recipe-raw-dog-food/ *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.       ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
Athena came to NDLB by way of Missouri. She had one litter of pups and then came to my home as a foster. She’s about 2 years old and a beefy 75lbs. Probably a Mastiff mix without the slobber! Big bonus. She has followed me everywhere since arriving. She definitely attaches to one person quickly and thinks she can sit on your lap. She is very sweet and needs lots of face rubs. She is great with my 2 female dogs and is totally house trained! She pulls when walking on a leash but she will get better with practice. She does enjoy car rides and would be a great addition to any family but would probably be best suited to a home with bigger kids just because she is a big girl. She does seem to like to have fur friends around to play throughout the day but would probably be fine as an only dog to get all the attention.    Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 16, 2024, 5:08 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $550 plus taxI'm so very pleased to meet you!  I'm good with kids and love other dogs. I like to spend my days busying myself with toys and doggie chewies.  I like to stay active too by running and playing in the yard.  However, I usually fit a few naps into my day as well.  After all, who doesn't like a nap?  I'm learning what potty pads are and that I really should go outside to do my dirty business but it takes time to establish those habits.  I love to cuddle with my humans too. I'm searching for a fabulous forever home to share my life and love with! Do you want a great friend to join your family?  Well, adopt me and let's start making lasting memories together!  * Puppies under 5 months should not be left alone for more than 4 hours at a time to help them with potty training and socialization.   If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Story
Snapshot of Beast: Size: X-Large (100 lbs.) Activity Level: Medium Noise Level: Low Good with Dogs: ok with slow intros to friendly dogs Good with Cats: Nope Good with Kids: Due to his size, he would be best in a home with older kids Good with Strangers: Yes Potty Trained: Yes Crate Trained: Beast doesn't tolerate dog crates Shedding: Minimal About Beast: Hi! My name is Beast! I'm a friendly guy who just wants to snuggle and be nice. My old human left me alone at a shelter because they couldn't take care of me anymore, so I got sent to Twin Cities Pet Rescue so they could find me a new home. I'm 4-5 years old, about 100 pounds, and am starting to get a bit of a gray beard, so I look very distinguished! I like being spoiled. I also like being in the same room with you as much as possible. I like to snuggle on the couch and want to sleep with you in your bed. I'm a big guy, and very strong - I can easily force my way out of a normal dog kennel, and can break most baby gates and safety latches designed for smaller dogs or humans without even thinking about it. Bottom line I don't like to be confined, but I'm well behaved in a home. I'm smart, housebroken, and pretty well trained. I know my name, and words like sit, shake, outside, potty, and others. I like to lick people when I meet them, and please be prepared because I'm a drooler! I prefer to lie down when I eat, and I don't have any special dietary needs, but sometimes I drink my water too fast and it comes back up, so I need some help with that. My foster dad also has another dog. He's kind of a jerk. We are mostly ok together but if he gets too anxious, foster dad has to take him away to "quiet time" so he doesn't go after me. When he's not anxious, we like to play outside and snuggle with foster dad. I'm good with other dogs, but sometimes due to my size they do not like me or are afraid of me. Because of my breed, I require slightly different maintenance than some other dogs. I have bristly, oily fur that needs to be washed more often so it doesn't smell. I also have folds of skin around my neck that need to be cleaned and dried occasionally, or I might get a skin infection. If you're interested in adopting a dog like me, I'd love to meet you! Beast is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for his age. Adoption Fee: $550 + applicable tax Training Requirement: Obedience Level 1 Recommended MEET ME/ADOPT ME: If you'd like to arrange a meeting or begin the adoption process, please fill out an adoption application by visiting https://www.twincitiespetrescue.org/adopt/ or clicking "adopt me! A volunteer from Twin Cities Pet Rescue will contact you within 3 business days. FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!!! Twin Cities Pet Rescue is a volunteer-run, foster home-based organization.
