[The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Homer was an excitable and friendly dog with high energy during his assessment. He actively sought interaction and would often jump up onto me. While walking on a leash, he maintained a relatively even pace without pulling.He remained engaged, showing curiosity about his surroundings and was eager for interaction. However, he struggled to settle down and often confused simple handling with playtime, making it hard for him to stay still. Despite jumping up and being mouthy at times, he exhibited good bite inhibition. Homer showed little interest in toys and was hard to redirect but recovered quickly from sudden noises. He seemed to understand the cue `sit.`When meeting new people, he could be rude by jumping into their space, but he was more cautious around new dogs, initially curious yet careful. Meet Miss Meatball! This beautiful brindle girl is Miss Meatball, a 2-year-old Mastiff mix who found herself at ARC after being picked up as a stray. Unfortunately, no one came forward to reclaim her, so now she’s ready to start the next chapter of her life with a family of her very own. Miss Meatball may have a big name and an even bigger head, but there’s a whole lot to love packed into this girl. She’s settling into shelter life while we continue learning more about her personality.When it comes to other dogs, Miss Meatball can be selective about her canine friends, so any potential doggy siblings would need to meet her here at the shelter to make sure everyone is comfortable and it’s a good match. One thing we know for sure? That face is pretty hard to resist. Her life before ARC may be a mystery, but we’re hoping her future includes a couch, plenty of love, and someone who thinks having a Meatball in the family sounds pretty perfect.
