One of my volunteer pals took me out on the town for the day, here's what he had to say about our time together:"Tucker and I recently enjoyed an awesome "expawdition" in downtown Hampton. Tucker is soooo chill during his rides in the car...he just sat in the backseat and enjoyed the scenery as we journeyed from PRAS to downtown Hampton for our "date." Tucker so enjoyed our walk starting at Hampton's Air & Space Museum and then we checked-out the newly refurbished Hampton Carousel.Afterwards, we stopped by and walked thru the marina checking out all the boats and the Dockmaster's building. Downtown Hampton was pretty quiet, but Tucker thoroughly enjoyed himself nonetheless.He's superb on his lead...no pulling or wandering. Tucker's all about behaving himself on the walk and yet is curious about unfamiliar adventures along the way.He enjoys his rests and snacks...that's for sure. Tucker takes treats very gently and especially savors ice-cream sandwiches and bacon treats.Tucker is "your bestie" if you're looking for a furry friend who is not hyper and enjoys people company as well as walks in the neighborhood and rides in a car.Tucker makes friends easily and just likes "hanging out." Hop in your car and come on over to the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter (PRAS) at 5843 Jefferson Ave. in NN and check-out how AWESOME Tucker is...make your family his forever family."I'm an older fella looking for my furrever home to live out the golden years with my new family! I'm an 8 year old, neutered brown and black Mastiff. I am up-to-date on my shots and I'm microchipped! Come see me!

80 pound TRUSTY is all of a sudden becoming so much more playful and happy! He rolls on the grass with a stuffed toy in his mouth. He will also come to you, drop on the ground pretty much on your feet and then roll over. He runs and chases. He is easy on a leash as he enjoys stopping and sniffing the roses here and there and when he's on a mission, he trots at an easy almost relaxing pace. Trusty needs just a bit of time to get fully used to new people but once he knows you, he's your boy. Please check him out. DAISY - 4-6 years old, 75 pounds, house trained, well mannered in home!   Daisy is a return resident at VBACAC. The first time she arrived was as a stray. She was adopted for a day and brought back almost immediately when she didn't do well with the other female dog in the home. She was adopted again and unfortunately, after a great 6 months with this family, the adopter was forced to bring Daisy back bc their new landlord does not want dogs on the property. Daisy is said to be good with children but needs older children in the home who understand dog etiquette and how to follow rules around dogs. She is a fun, playful girl who loves toys and tennis balls and she loves to jump...on you... in play! Daisy is a guardian breed, and does guard her prized items like food, bones, bedding. She should be allowed to have her things and not be messed with while eating or chewing a bone. She is neutral with big dogs in public but is not able to live with other dogs. Bodhi is a 2-3 yr old English mastiff.  He is the sweetest and shyest boy you will ever meet. There is not a mean bone in his body. Bodhi is looking for a family that wants a big sweet boy and will be patient with him to work through all of the things that are so scary. Bodhi came from a cruelty case and is still learning that the world has good things. He wants to play but is still too scared. He is good with kids and other dogs (cats unknown but suspect he will be fine). Bodhi is currently going through heartworm treatment (slow kill)  and will be neutered once it's safe to do so.   He is crate trained,  up to date on vaccines,  good on leash (once he isn't scared) , but still very scared of a car.  He needs coaxing and sometimes to be lifted in a car. Bodhi is being fostered in Suffolk, VA. If you are out of state we do require you to come where the dog is for meet and greet. If you have other dogs we do ask you bring them along to make sure everyone will be friends.  ##2005762##
