Story
Meet GeraldAge: 5 yearsBreed: MastiffWeight: 123 lbsGerald is a gentle giant with an even bigger heart. This sweet Mastiff loves affection and is happiest when he’s leaning into his people for love. He takes treats gently, enjoys human companionship, and has a calm, affectionate nature that makes him truly special. That said, Gerald has absolutely no idea how big he is. At 123 pounds, his enthusiasm can sometimes get the best of him, and he has been known to run full-speed toward people when he’s excited. Because of his size and strength, we require that the entire family meet him prior to adoption, and we recommend a home with children ages 10 and older, as smaller children could be accidentally knocked over.Gerald would benefit from an experienced, strong handler who is comfortable managing a large dog and committed to helping him be his best self. He needs some continued training, particularly with jumping (his version of “hugs”) and brushing up on leash manners. With consistency and guidance, Gerald has all the potential to shine.Gerald is a fantastic dog with so much love to give, and he will make an incredible companion for the right home. Someone very lucky is going to fall in love with this big-hearted boy.

Nyla is in a FOSTER home while she waits for her FOREVER home. Please reach out to PRAS-FOSTER@NNVA.GOV if you`d like to meet her. Meet Nala – Our Stunning 1.5-Year-Old Cane CorsoNala may have arrived at PRAS as a stray, but she has spent the last several weeks thriving in a foster home with one of our staff members while she awaited her spay. Now that she is fully vetted and altered, this gorgeous girl is officially ready to find her forever family.Nala is crate trained, housebroken, and currently living peacefully with another female dog and a cat in her foster home. We believe she can do well with other dogs in her adoptive home, as long as introductions are done slowly and appropriately.Like many Cane Corsos, Nala displays some classic “stranger danger” tendencies. She is not the type of dog who will be comfortable with a lot of unfamiliar people coming in and out of her home, so she will need an adopter who understands and respects the protective nature of her breed. She is truly a remarkable dog, but she is not a beginner breed.Nala is beautiful, loyal, and full of potential—she just needs the right match who appreciates who she is.If you’re familiar with Cane Corsos and think Nala may be the perfect fit for your home, please reach out to PRAS-FOSTER@NNVA.GOV to schedule a meet and greet. She can’t wait to meet the person who will finally be hers.

Story
Hi, I`m Angel! I spend my days playing with my favorite toys, soaking up attention, and greeting new friends with my sweet, gentle nature. Whether we’re going for walks or curling up on the couch, I’m happiest when I’m with someone who loves me.I’m trainable, housebroken, and currently living with a foster parent who’s helping me work through my mild anxiety. I’m already making great progress and will continue to shine with a patient, loving adopter.I do need a home without small pets—no cats or caged animals for me, please—but I have plenty of love to give to the right family. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will fill your days with affection and joy, I might be the perfect match. I can’t wait to meet you!

Story
Meet Baron Baron is an 85-lb bundle of enthusiasm, heart, and goofy charm who has been waiting since January for someone to finally notice him. After many months in the shelter, he is now thriving in a temporary foster home, where his true personality is shining through. Baron is a fun, spirited young dog. He gets spontaneous zoomies, bounds around the yard with joy, and has an adorable quirk where his right ear twists forward when he’s curious or unsure. It’s the kind of charm that makes people fall for him quickly. Personality and Behavior • Sweet, affectionate, and deeply loving once he feels safe • Young, high-energy, and still working on impulse control and manners • Can be jumpy and mouthy when excited • Dog-friendly with slow, structured introductions • Cat-friendly • Smart, eager to learn, and responsive to guidance • A big teddy bear at heart who wants connection and consistency Baron has made tremendous progress now that he’s experiencing life outside the shelter. He wants to do well, he wants to bond, and he truly wants someone to choose him. Ideal Home Baron will thrive with an adopter who: • Understands large-breed dogs • Values routine, structure, and continued training • Can help him channel his energy appropriately • Appreciates a goofy, affectionate companion who will keep them smiling Baron has been waiting a long time for his chance. If you’re looking for a joyful, loyal dog and want to change a life in a meaningful way, Baron may be the perfect match.
