Story
Rocco is currently 7 1/2 months old and around 80lbs. He will top out over 100lbs. He has been a great puppy thus far, picking up a few commands, is house trained, good with both kids and dogs. Unfortunately, I am unable to keep him due to health issues and not being able to give him the time he deserves. He loves the water, likes being both inside and out and has a lot of puppy energy. I am looking for someone who has the necessary time to spend with him . He would do well in a family setting with a fenced yard, kids, and or another dog. The rehoming fee is negotiable, includes dog house, dog bed , feeding bowls, toys, etc. I am willing to do a meet and greet with anyone local to make sure it he is a good fit for both you and I. It is extremely important to me that he finds a good home! Thanks!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application Courtesy Post for AHS Forked River, NJ Courtesy Post located in Forked River, NJ https://www.petfinder.com/dog/spice-69889190/nj/forked-river/popcorn-park-ahs-forked-river-nj03/ Spice Girl has been waiting entirely too long already for the good home that she's so deserving of! She's about 4 years old and this big, beautiful Boerboel arrived in July, 2023 after having a couple of unfit homes. Spice needed some time to put all of that behind her, and she needed help in learning how to trust again. She's a resilient girl though, and she does her best not to let things get her down. Unfortunately, it does get her down, being here for so long. When Spice comes out of the kennel with friends, she's a big, bubbly goofball! She bonds intently with her friends and, as mastiffs are, she's protective of those she's bonded with. It takes her a minute or two to get to know and trust you but once she does, she just about knocks you over with leaning against you to get all of your attention. Spice is well-behaved and has learned lots! She knows sit, stay, down, paw, and so much more. She's good on a leash and loves toys too! Spice has had lousy experiences with pets in the past so it's best if she goes to a home where she can be an only pet. That just means she'll love YOU all the more though. She hopes so much that you'll just give her a chance already. She'll love you forever if you do. Call 609-693-1900 or email: office@ahsppz.org for an application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application HEADLINER: Izzabella aka Izzy. HISTORY: One owner who did not provide basic medical care so Izzy lived many year with out of control skin issues, ear infections, UTI’s, etc. PERSONALITY: Izzy is a sweet, friendly girl that loves meeting new people and welcoming them into the house. She loves attention and affection and will lean in hard for pets and ear scratches. She tends to spend her days snoozing away but when she gets the zoomies she takes them seriously and this girl can move despite her age.  She lives peacefully with a 60lb male mixed breed but is reactive when seeing dogs out on a walk. Izzy is a bit fearful of fireworks and thunderstorms and will sometimes get spooked by loud noises. Izzy likes things to happen on her own personal timeline and can be stubborn when they don’t. She will test limits by whining and carrying on (dancing around, stomping her feet, wagging her tail furiously while staring at you) to try to get her way. She’s learning that those things don’t work in our house but it’s hard not to laugh at her antics. She’ll do it to the other dog in the house too when he’s laying in a bed that she wants. She usually gets her way with the dog.  FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Napping, soaking up love and attention, laying in the sun MEDICAL ISSUES: With vet care and a quality diet Izzy’s skin issues and ear infections have cleared up and she is no longer a big itchy mess. She did have a mammary tumor removed while being spayed. She is not currently on any medications. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: Izzy enjoys hanging out with her people, so a family that spends a lot of time around the house/yard/garden would be great for her. Once integrated with another dog she is very polite and respectful but she definitely needs slow introductions to new dogs. Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. These include but are not limited to pull fees from shelters, veterinary examinations, vaccinations, medications and care, microchips, neuter/spay surgeries, heartworm treatments, behavior evaluations, and foster care, as needed. Important notes before applying. Adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina. We will not adopt giant breed dogs to renters. Homes with children under 6 years of age will not be approved for adoption. Homes with children should have a fenced yard. Pets currently in the applicant's home must have a history of appropriate veterinary care. Homes with intact dogs will not be approved for adoption.  Proof of any of the following exceptions is required: The intact dog is a working member of a law enforcement, or search and rescue/recovery team. The intact dog is registered under the auspices of the American Kennel Club and is actively being shown. A veterinarian has determined the sterilization procedure would harm the intact dog.  We believe in Force Free Training Methods and do not approve of methods or devices using pain or force to control the dog, or to deter undesirable behavior.  Homes with highly varnished steps must have carpeting, securely fixed stair treads, or a non-skid surface. **We encourage you to remediate potential safety issues while your application is under review, prior to the home visit. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application HEADLINER: Dakota is located in Monroeville PA. She is an adorable, sweet, loving giant. She loves to cozy-up with family members so she would do best in a family with adults and older children. HISTORY: Dakota is a 5+ year old, spayed, female, English Mastiff. Current on all shots. She does have a history of allergies and CCL surgery. Raised in one home, around older children and adults. Has not lived with any other pets but has often played with family-member dogs and dogs at daycare. PERSONALITY: Dakota loves attention and enjoys sitting on laps like she is a small dog. Her favorite treats are fruits and veggies, even frozen ones. She loves squeaky toys but must be the indestructible types (Joy Hound Rip Roarin’ Tough Toys - For Large Breed Dogs). She loves belly rubs and playing in the snow. FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Eating, lap sitting, short walks, going to daycare, and loves a good nap when things are quiet MEDICAL ISSUES: Allergies (Eats Royal Canin PR and takes apoquel); CCL Surgery (Left Hind Leg). WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: Dakota would thrive in a single pet home or a home where she can be acclimated to a larger breed dog. She is used to being around teenagers and adults but does well around children when supervised. Story
Meet Gabby! Gabby is a stunning and affectionate Mastiff/Great dane mix. At only around three years old, she already knows some basic commands (including sit, down, and up), making her an incredibly intelligent and trainable pooch! Despite her size, Gabby is a gentle giant who walks well on a leash and gently approaches the people she meets. Her loving nature and eagerness to please make her an ideal companion for someone looking for a big and beautiful best friend. She came to us after being rescued from a situation of neglect, and she has since healed both physically and emotionally, proving that she still has a lot of love to give. This gorgeous girl somehow still has space in her heart for love and affection despite it all -- do you have space in your heart for her? If you're interested in adopting Gabby, please come visit the shelter or send an email to adoptpetersburg@gmail.com and include "Gabby" in the subject line. We look forward to helping Gabby find her forever home!
