Fill out an Adoption Application Courtesy Post for AHS Forked River, NJ Courtesy Post located in Forked River, NJ Spice Girl has been waiting entirely too long already for the good home that she's so deserving of! She's about 4 years old and this big, beautiful Boerboel arrived in July, 2023 after having a couple of unfit homes. Spice needed some time to put all of that behind her, and she needed help in learning how to trust again. She's a resilient girl though, and she does her best not to let things get her down. Unfortunately, it does get her down, being here for so long. When Spice comes out of the kennel with friends, she's a big, bubbly goofball! She bonds intently with her friends and, as mastiffs are, she's protective of those she's bonded with. It takes her a minute or two to get to know and trust you but once she does, she just about knocks you over with leaning against you to get all of your attention. Spice is well-behaved and has learned lots! She knows sit, stay, down, paw, and so much more. She's good on a leash and loves toys too! Spice has had lousy experiences with pets in the past so it's best if she goes to a home where she can be an only pet. That just means she'll love YOU all the more though. She hopes so much that you'll just give her a chance already. She'll love you forever if you do. Call 609-693-1900 or email: for an application. Mastiff Great Dane

Female, 3 yrs 1 mo
Petersburg, VA
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Meet Gabby! Gabby is a stunning and affectionate Mastiff/Great dane mix. At only around three years old, she already knows some basic commands (including sit, down, and up), making her an incredibly intelligent and trainable pooch! Despite her size, Gabby is a gentle giant who walks well on a leash and gently approaches the people she meets. Her loving nature and eagerness to please make her an ideal companion for someone looking for a big and beautiful best friend. She came to us after being rescued from a situation of neglect, and she has since healed both physically and emotionally, proving that she still has a lot of love to give. This gorgeous girl somehow still has space in her heart for love and affection despite it all -- do you have space in your heart for her? If you're interested in adopting Gabby, please come visit the shelter or send an email to and include "Gabby" in the subject line. We look forward to helping Gabby find her forever home!

Mastiff Mixed Breed (Large)

Male, Senior
Petersburg, VA
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Good with kids, Good with dogs,
Are you ready to welcome a distinguished gentleman into your home? Bruno might just be the perfect match for you! Despite his senior status (estimated 14 years young), Bruno has plenty of pep in his step and a heart full of love to share. With a little tender love and care, he's sure to thrive and enjoy many more happy years by your side. Bruno is in good health, as confirmed by recent bloodwork, but he'll need updated vaccines and regular veterinary care to ensure he stays in top shape. He's housebroken and well-behaved indoors, though he wears a belly band due to a condition called smegma. Don't let that deter you - he's still a clean and respectful housemate! While Bruno knows the command "sit," he's still working on his "stay" skills. He can tolerate a crate for short periods but much prefers the comfort of a cozy couch. He's a social butterfly who gets along well with other dogs indoors, but he may be reactive on walks, likely just eager to meet new furry friends. Unfortunately, Bruno isn't a fan of cats - he's got a bit of a chasing instinct! But don't worry, he's more interested in toys and treats anyway. This affectionate sweetheart loves nothing more than spending time with his humans. He's got puppy energy to spare and enjoys a good game of fetch or a romp in the yard. Keep in mind, Bruno is a big boy with a big heart, so he'd do best in a home with adults or older children who can handle his size and energy level. A work-from-home situation or the ability to come home midday for potty breaks would be ideal for him. If you're looking for a loyal companion who's equal parts cuddly and playful, look no further than Bruno. Come meet him today and see if he's the perfect fit for your family! Send an email to and include "Bruno" in the subject line if you're interested in this perfect gentleman.

Mastiff Mixed Breed (Medium)

Male, Senior
Williamsburg, VA
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Spayed or Neutered,
Notes from Oscar's foster: "Oscar is genuinely one of the best dogs I've ever met. He's slow to trust but once he trusts you, he's one of the most loyal dogs ever. He loves going on walks, but also loves sleeping on the couch. He believes he's a lap dog, even though he's 70 lbs. When he has to go to the bathroom he does a play bark to let you know. Because of this, he hasn't had any house accidents for over 4 years. I truly believe his favorite part of the day is getting to take over the whole bed at night. He loves other animals but prefers to be fed by himself. He is not fond of strangers approaching the house but if met in a controlled environment he opens up pretty fast and remembers people. Even though he's 8 years old, he is still full of life and would be an amazing addition to any home."

(when grown) X-Large 101 lbs (46 kg) or more
Good with kids, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Hercules is looking for someone to be their hero.  This 3 year old 170 pound Bull Mastiff is massive and definitely the size of a small pony.  He is a lazy, affectionate big OOF that needs someone bigger and stronger than him to make him their sidekick in life.  Being the only dog would be so good for him since the former owner never socialized him with other dogs.  He assumed that Hercules might be a little aggressive or assertive and so we just don’t know for sure.   Maybe a female dog would be fine but we doubt a male would be a good idea in the future home.  He is not great on a leash.  Noone took that time to really train him but it still is doable with the right person knowing how to do it.  He is housebroken, crate trained and he is not destructive in the house.  This boy will make you laugh, make you want to protect him (even though he is big) and he will love you unconditionally and who in the world would ever break in to your home!?  Goodness they would be insane.   This boy loves people though….but if you don’t know him then he could be a nice guardian.   A fenced yard would be the perfect environment for everyone.  If you qualify, then please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJuly 19, 2024, 5:33 pm
