Story
Rembrandt is a perfect potato, with fur the color of toasted coconut and an adorable frosting face who has landed in Muttville just in time to find his perfect home for the holidays. He’s a little shy but warms up quickly (especially if you have a treat or two handy – it’s remarkable how brave the shy seniors become when enticed with a bit of chicken!). Rembrandt is a politely personable dog, although not always keen to initiate introductions, he’s very receptive to well-mannered mutts. He’s the perfect snuggle-size, so if you’re looking for someone to join you on the couch during these cold winter days, Rembrandt might just be the dog for you! Here's some notes from his foster: Rembrandt is a wonderful little gentleman and he’s settled in great in my studio. His temperament is so mild and wonderfully gentle. He was cold so I bought him a gorgeous turtleneck sweater he loves. House training is going well, he is learning to use pads he also goes outside well. I notice his legs are very short and his endurance level and ambulatory robustness is fragile, so we take our own walks together separate from my dachshund and I keep the distances very short. Rembrandt is definitely more an indoor/lap dog than a super mobile baby. He gets along great with Buster my robust eight year old short hair standard size dachshund.

Story
GitHub is a mix of Jack Russel terrier and dachshund, and he combines the best of both breeds. He has the sandy brown color and compact potato-shaped body of a dachshund, adorable facial structure of a Jack Russell (which just a dusting of sugar showing his status as a distinguished gentleman), and the floppy chocolate ears of both breeds. GitHub is a friendly boy who ambles about looking for a sniff here and there; he’s getting along well with the other dogs (and people!) at Muttville with his polite manners and upbeat spirit. This portly gentleman has been searching for his forever home, and he’s considering potential families – if you’d like to throw your hat in the ring, come meet this sweet senior today! Here's some notes from his foster: Happy to take a solid stroll. Delighted to be buried in a blanket. Despite being low to the ground, GitHub handles stairs competently and will leap onto a chair or bed no problem if it seems like it’ll be cozy and have a good view of you. He’ll cuddle a bit but seems most interested to be cozy near you versus on you. He sits at the door to have his leash attached. He’s loose on long walks (1-3 miles), doesn’t react much when dogs across the street get barky and excited. He happily and calmly introduces himself to dogs large and small when out and about, but doesn’t seem tempted to play too much and seems unfamiliar with toys. He loves his breakfast and dinner but isn’t treat or crumb oriented (he sat wrapped in a blanket on my lap out to breakfast , nose at plate level, and only ate the few tiny egg bites I offered, wasn’t nosey at all… amazing restraint!!) He likes to know where I am and will come looking for me a short few minutes after he’s lost track of me. In the few days I’ve had him, I’ve not left him at home and gone out for more than 30 minutes, but he seems to be getting more used to the reliability of the movements in a new house. He’s not very vocal and is pretty slow to push open doors that are ajar. Though he’s good on long walks, he likes to do his morning business down the street and head straight back to the warm house for breakfast and more blanket wrapped energy renewal time. He sleeps still and quietly all night on his own little dog pad and under his own cozy blanket at the head of my bed. His ideal would be to have my pillow. His resting mode usually involves tucking at least his nose if not his whole body into something. He’s very sweet and gentle in my experience and very good looking.

Story
With chocolatey brown fluffy fur, floppy ears, and a pointy snout that is frosted to perfection, Elfman will find his way to your heart! This dapper gentleman is a long-haired dachshund who just wants a forever home to while away his golden years dozing on a couch and being spoiled with treats and snuggles. He gets overwhelmed in a crowd, so our dear Elfman would love to be the sole object of your attention, an easy trade because he’s got enough love to give for at least four dogs (he keeps the extra in his hair). If you’re just looking for a sweet old senior to keep you company and spend his days napping beside you, Elfman is the perfect pick! Here's some notes from his foster: This little gentleman could be teaching doggie etiquette courses - his manners are impeccable. He is a very sweet and quiet boy who is supremely content just sniffing around outside and sleeping in the sun. He’s good about baths and brushing, he takes his medications without complaint, and he wouldn’t dream of asking for his breakfast before responsibly doing his business outside. I hope our family dog is taking some notes! Elfman gets along with our family dog, but is a little protective about his food bowl. He didn’t want to share a bed when he first arrived, but he now climbs right into bed for snuggles with his buddy. He doesn’t seem to have any interest in playing with toys or other dogs. He does startle with loud noises, and crowd situations stress him out. Relatable introvert stuff, honestly! Elfman loves a good neck massage and likes to get pets in your lap, but he isn’t needy and is also happy to be curled up in his bed. He is a shy guy but warms right up after a couple of days! He loves being outdoors - perhaps not a surprise given that he looks like a miniature coyote. An extra bonus? Very few teeth = the cleanest breath I’ve ever smelled from a dog! He is fine with our dog-experienced kids, but probably wishes they didn’t have so many friends over all the time! He loves to chill out to Minecraft music though.
