Story
Meet Osa! Osa appears to be a Dachshund mix (the long body gives it away) but she's definitely has some other breeds in the mix. She's a little (about 20 pounds) chocolate dog with some golden fur mixed in and has the most beautiful big brown eyes and soft, fluffy ears that perfectly frame her sweet face. She really is adorable.💕Osa has done an amazing job raising her puppies, and now at about 2.5 years old it’s finally her turn to be someone’s baby and find a forever home of her own. She’s on the timid/cautious side at first but she is sweet as can be and begins to warm up quickly. From her first day in foster, she was following her foster mom around the house. She has a gentle, quiet presence and a heart that’s ready for love. Over her week in foster she has started to open up and has even has a couple cases of the zoomies. Once Osa warms up, she truly shines and this little one will make a deeply loyal and loving companion. Osa would do well in an new home where her family can be a patient and build trust with her. She is a calm and docile little one, while in foster she's allowed herself to be picked up, had her feet and ears touched, she didn't love the trimmer trying to clean up her grinch toes or the bath but she tolerated both, and she is not foot aggressive in any way. Osa could also benefit from a home with another dog who can teach her more about being a dog but, this is not necessary as she seems pretty happy as a solo foster. She does show fear of other dogs, giving other dogs a wide birth or a growl if they get too close when out on a walk so any introductions would need to be done slowly. Osa has demonstrated a bit of a prey drive, chasing the squirrels in the yard, so I would be cautious about introducing her to cats. Osa, enjoys attention and affection, she loves pets and once she trusts you she'll show her belly for belly rubs and she'll snuggle up next to you in bed at night, but she is not a lap dog, there is a little bit of an independent streak in her. This is helpful when she needs to be left alone, as she can be left in her crate if necessary and does not have any issue with separation. Osa has had no problem with car rides in a car and has enjoyed getting out for walks. She is great on a leash and only needs more experience out in the world to build up her confidence. Osa's level of house training is really quite good and this will need reinforced at a new home as she gets used to new routines. Osa is still healing some from her spay surgery and is working through a course of medication so an adopter would need to be able to complete this treatment. Osa, is a little brown bear of a dog who will worm her way into your heart. Meet her in Longmont.
