Story
Brownie is a very sweet girl who loves human attention. She is good with other dogs, not playful with them, but she does play with toys. She still has some puppy tendencies, but she is smart and is eager to learn new things. She can chew on soft things, like blankets, beds. Can be mouthy at times with hands. She needs work on potty training and basic obedience. Overall, she will make a great companion. Loves to cuddle and be petted. She just needs the training to get her out of the puppy stage. She is located in Greeley

Story
Hi, everyone! Welcome to my profile. I am a gentle soul, soaking up all of the affection I can get, as you can see in my videos. I also love to cuddle right NEXT to you. I came to Big Bones Canine Rescue from Tijuana, Mexico via a transport from California. I was very sick and injured when I was found in Mexico in July 2024, but I was nursed back to health and then recently came to Colorado in January 2025. My foster family gives me lots of love and I am soaking it all up. I am enjoying hanging out with my foster siblings who are all about my size (I am needing a weight check, but am about 13 lbs.). I recently enjoyed my first socialization outing to Lowe's and got to meet a few new people. I am told we will be taking me to the mall to see how I do with more people, kids. My foster family is also going to see how I do with bigger dogs and kitties. Oh, I just discovered toys so that is FUN! Update on the mall and kids: I did really well and actually thoroughly enjoyed checking out the sights and exploring the new place. I enjoyed taking the bribery, I mean hot dogs, from kids as well as their pets.

Hello! My name is Scrappy . I am a young small dog ready for my forever home. I am sweet and loving with a happy spirit that's contagious. I like to go to parks and play outside. I am also happy cuddling up on the couch and relaxing. I am g ood with dogs, people, kids, and cats. I was hit by a car at some point and the injury was never fixed so I do have a limp when I walks. If you are interested in adopting me, please go to the Ozzie and Friends website https://www.ozzieandfriendsrescue.org        November 27, 2024, 3:44 pm

Story
*** If you are interested in Tito, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ *** Meet Tito! Tito was picked up as a stray in Roswell, NM and brought into an overcrowded shelter. Tito has showed in his time at the shelter that he is so sweet, and great with people, other dogs, and even cats! He now has made his way to Colorado for a fresh start. Tito is 2 years old, and a tiny 8 lbs. He is believed to be a Chiweenie; a Dachshund / Chihuahua mix. Tito is SO silly and stinkin' adorable! His foster mom had the following to say about him: "I swear Tito is the cutest dog we've ever met!!! He is so hard to photograph though - haha! This little dude is SO sweet, adorable, and friendly. He loves other dogs, he is great with cats, and he is great with people! He is small and truly so adorable. I would say he is potty trained, but did have a few accidents when we first took him home. But once he learned the routine, he's been good! He makes a little squeak sound when he is excited and wiggles his whole body and it's the cutest thing you will ever see!" With any rescue dog, moving from a shelter to a foster to an adoptive home can be very confusing. When an adopting family is sensitive to the challenges of change and acclimation for these dog's, the transition is far easier. A home with a very loving and nurturing family that understands that blossoming takes time would be perfect home for Tito. Socialization, pure love and belly rubs is a gift to a dog that is undergoing a life change. Given the time and space, these dogs shine. As any new rescue dog, Tito would benefit from attending a level 1 training class taught by one of our approved trainers. Farfel's Farm believes in only using positive reinforcement/force free training methods, because we have found that to be more effective. Dogs that do not get proper training and socialization have a much higher risk of developing behavioral problems, and there is a bonding that occurs through the training process that can't be duplicated. It will also teach behaviors that will enable him to go out into the world with excellent manners, and it will create a very respectful relationship between him and his owner. Tito is up to date on his vaccines, heartworm negative, and neutered. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. **PLEASE NOTE**. If you're truly interested in adopting Alfie please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those those that don't submit a Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue!

Story
Meet Mojo! At just 1 year old and 14 lbs is just naturally a lover (once he feels safe & sound in his environment). When this little guy looks at you with those dark, expressive eyes, your heart can't help but melt. Mojo is a cute as can be Dachshund / Schnauzer mix with all the traits that make these super- smart and personality-plus dogs very popular breed mixes that make excellent pets. (And yes, he is a boy! The harness we sent his foster home with didn't quite fit, so she made due with what she had. Who said boys can't rock pink!?!) Mojo has been through a lot in his short life. He was rescued from the the streets of Texas with another like-sized dog. Both were brought to the local kill shelter and were unable to thrive in the chaos of that environment. The shelter director, known for her big heart when it comes to frightened little dogs, saved both Mojo and his doggy friend from euthanasia. She had enough experience to know that underneath street dirt and very fearful presentations, these were dogs just craving love and kindness. The director, with this in mind, sent Mojo to Colorado, and to Farfel's Rescue so we could get him out of the shelter and into a safe foster home. Mojo is now in his foster home and within minutes of being home he has started to warm up already! From Mojo's foster: * * * * "Mojo is a sweet little love bug! When he first arrived he didn’t want to leave his crate, and was pretty scared. So when he is adopted, his adopter should expect him to be timid for about a day. He warmed up super fast though and has started to show his puppy personality! When I brought him home, I placed his crate in the spare room and opened it up and walked away to let him come out on his own. Over the span of 4 hours I would come visit him in the room, tossing treats and letting him come to me. By the evening he had chosen to come sit next to me and get pet. He then took a nap by my legs. He loves loves freeze dried chicken! After those few hours he decided he liked me and would cry lightly when I left the room. In the morning he was happy to come out for treats from me. We then let him explore more of the house and he found toys and began to play. He loves to play with and rip up toys and is really good at getting the squeaker out. He’s very puppy! Two friends came by and within 10 minutes of them being quiet and tossing treats from afar he was taking treats from them and also let them pet him. He’s comfortable now with being pet all over - he’s nervous to get his leash and harness on but with a clip on harness (vs over the head) he allowed me to put it on. He sleeps in his crate in my bedroom overnight and doesn't make a peep. Today was the first time we took him out to potty (on two leashes for extra security) and he pottied right away. He’s seemed happy to be outside but will be learning more about walking on leash. He is very affectionate and seems to really want to be with people. He bonded to me quickly but he was also happy to sit by and get pets from others. The key with him is lots of treats and letting him come to you on his own terms." * * * * Farfel's Rescue would love to see Mojo in a home with a couple or individual (since Mojo is scared at first, no kids please) or active retirees who have the time and love for a very loyal and sweet dog who will be initially fearful. We'd hate to see Mojo left alone all day while his family works full-time outside of the home as he seems to be too sensitive for that type of arrangement. Mojo will thrive on spending his time near his people, getting loved up periodically throughout the day. We'd like to place Mojo in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and tons of loving hugs. A virtual or in-person positive reinforcement training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt Harry to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Mojo has been fully vetted and vaccinated in order to earn his interstate health certificate for transport between Texas and Colorado. He has also been neutered to support Farfel's commitment to ending the tragedy of pet overpopulation in the canine community. Mojo is available for adoption now! Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, loving and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Mojo please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. ** If you are interested in adopting Lucy, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Lucy is a sweet, 3-year-old Dachshund mix, weighing in at 15 lbs. She is friendly and sweet, and a tad chonky. Lucy ended up in a small shelter in rural Texas when she was picked up by a samaritan who found her trotting down the sidewalk. Lucy has showed herself to be a very sweet girl at the shelter, and loves people and other dogs. We don't know if Lucy has had any formal training.
