Story
This is Pida! He was our first child and we love him dearly. Well, 4 human kids later and Pida isn’t in his zone anymore. He loves to snuggle and relax with his humans and our little ones are just ready to rumble all day everyday. Pida has been our pup since he was a tiny baby, so he’s very well cared for. He LOVES to snuggle and watch movies, and he’s also a great hiking partner! He absolutely loves meeting other dogs but I think he would be happiest in a home as the only fur child. He thinks he is a human and will definitely try to snuggle you at night. Our goal is to find the very best match for our soulful little guy.

Story
Pumpernickel is a 5 year old, 36 pound bundle of fun! This guy loves to play and run around and will be looking for an active home to keep him busy! He is friendly and confident and checks in with his humans frequently. He has good leash manners and will come when called. He knows basic commands such as "sit," and is gentle when receiving a reward. He is living with one of our incredible foster homes, and will be available at the adoption center on Saturdays, until adopted. You may also email Debbie@AzFriends.org to arrange a weekday meeting. No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the dog. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).

Story
Sweet little Bert and his siblings and mom were dumped in a downtown Phoenix neighborhood. With a lot of help from neighbors we were able to get them all together. Sweet and gentle…Bert would make a great family dog or a doggie companion. Bert is 5months old and weighs approximately 11lbs right now. Small dog with long legs that would make him a great dog for walking and hiking. Adoption fee is $250 which includes puppy and rabies shot, neuter, microchip and 30 days of free pet insurance. Text 480-718-1312 if you would like to meet Bert or his other siblings.May 1, 2024, 9:40 pm

Story
**courtesy post** Meet Semper Fi! This little girl comes from a family of military. Semper Fi is the Marine Corps motto, meaning “Always Faithful” 🫶 This is my grandmother’s little dog who passed away recently 💔 I was sooo worried for her because she was so depressed & wouldn’t make eye contact. She was obsessed with my grandma. Really, they were obsessed with each other almost to the point where it was unhealthy 😂 My grandma & I caught her in 2016. We found out she was pregnant & she had 2 beautiful babies that found homes quickly. I wanted to adopt her out too but my grandma had just put her other little dog down & she needed a dog for her soul. So she stayed. My grandma was SO scared of losing her - she never let her outside. She used pee pads. I know this might sound cruel but my grandma didn’t know any better and only wanted to protect this street dog. Can you imagine not going outside for 8 years? Can you imagine losing your mom & having your whole world flipped upside down? You can now understand why I was so worried for this little dog having to face such a huge transition. Since being with me for a few days now, she goes in / outside on her own & LOVES the sunshine and exploring - it’s so cute to watch her discover this new life. She is looking for a patient home that will understand they need to go slow and allow her time to adjust, thrive and blossom. Whoever adopts her will need a secure yard. Spayed, vaccinated & microchipped. Let us know if you're interested!
