Story
We are so excited to welcome this handsome gentleman to the sanctuary! Dino is a 12-year-old miniature pinscher mix was discovered as a stray on the streets of Phoenix before finding himself on the euthanasia list at the Humane Society due to allergies. When we saw his sweet face, we just knew his life couldn’t end on those terms. We took Dino to the dermatologist and soon this little guy was feeling better than ever! Dino only has partial vision, so he approaches slowly but is quick to become comfortable with people. Although he can be a little shy at first, Dino is quick to bond. Truly, he just wants to feel comfortable, safe, and secure. Hey, don’t we all! Dino is a distinguished older gentleman who loves to spend his mornings soaking up the sun and relaxing. Can’t you just see him sitting beside you as you drink your morning coffee!? Because we sure can! He would love nothing more than to spend his golden years contemplating all the things that dogs often do, while laying by your feet, spending every moment with you! If you are interested in adopting or learning more about Dino, please submit an adoption application through our website at skysanctuaryrescue.org/applications. Once this application is submitted, we will happily answer any questions you might have and set up a meet and greet.

Story
When it comes to a ‘special needs’ dog, there should be emphasis on the word ‘special’ – there is nothing more special than a dog like Dean! A 1.5 yr old Miniature Pinscher-mix, Dean was most likely born without eyesight. He is completely blind and was originally found on the side of a busy road by a Good Samaritan who luckily was able to save him before he got into the busy street or highway nearby! Despite his disability, nothing stops Dean from enjoying life to the fullest! He has a joyful spirit and doesn’t let what he doesn’t have bring him down. Due to his lack of eyesight, Dean works hard to learn his new environment. He’s a very smart boy, who adapts quickly, but he can get frightened by new sounds, especially loud ones like sirens. As a result, a quiet, low-key home is preferred for him. Dean would thrive in a home without children (young or older) or cats. The extra noises of children do make him uncomfortable, and he doesn’t quite understand why cats won’t play with him! He would greatly appreciate a home with a consistent routine that will give him ample time to get comfortable around any new visitors. Once he feels safe, he is the biggest love bug and wants to play! Dean takes comfort in the safety of his crate, which will be a great tool for his future family to continue using in order to provide him a safe, quiet place in his new home. Dean is potty trained at his current location and in a new unfamiliar environment, he will need to learn the routine of being let outside. He greatly would prefer being let outside in a private backyard over being put on a leash to go potty. He would love another dog friend to play with and help lead the way. Dean enjoys playing with toys and chewing on marrow bones, and if you can’t find him, he has most likely burrowed himself underneath blankets! This boy just wants to be loved and feel safe, and we know the perfect home is out there for him. He will bring so much joy to his perfect forever home! Dean’s adoption fee includes his completed veterinary exams, vaccinations, microchip and neuter. He’ll melt your heart at first sight. To meet Dean, please visit: https://lovethemallrescue.org/dean

Story
Hugo (fka Chaplan) will be available to meet and potentially adopt (pending foster's availability) on Saturdays starting Saturday, June 1st at our PetSmart location (857 N Val Vista Dr, #106, Gilbert AZ 85234) until adopted. The adoption event starts at Noon and goes until 3:00pm.mid-May Hugo update...he is now housetrained. He's a sweet, quiet dog, loves me and sits by me on his floor bed. At night he moves up on the couch to sleep. He's not a barker or biter, he does steal and chew everything, 2 remote controls, 2 pr of shoes, assorted small items = basically anything in the house he can reach and carry he will destroy. He's become a very picky eater,😿 won't eat dry food but here we cook for them nightly so not his fault. He doesn't seem to like men. My pet sitter is live-in, he cleans up after Hugo, cooks for him, feeds him but Hugo doesn't let him get too near. And its nothing the pet sitter did. He's that way with any male he's encountered. He does love me and goes crazy wagging and doing zoomies, but even for me he's not very approachable, he has to come to me... I can't really go to him.Photos of him on his white fuzzy bed at my feet and the couch h sleeps on.

Story
Kobe is a smart and playful older gentleman. He weighs 13.8 lbs, and is thought to be a min pin mix. He is blind in the right eye, but the veterinarian said it was best to not remove it. This doesn’t slow him down! He loves to follow a person around, and if his person is moving, he’s moving. If his person is hanging out, watching TV, he loves to lie next to them. He doesn’t seem to be much of a lap guy….He really loves to play fetch, and even brings the ball back to you, dropping it at your feet or your side most of the time! I have never had so many toys spread throughout the house! 😂 He learned the dog door in one day, but doesn’t use it much on his own. However, he has not had any accidents. He is currently getting daily walks, and when he sees a leash he jumps and spins with happiness! He has not been allowed on my bed because I have three of my own that wouldn’t be happy about that! However, when I pat a dog bed near our bed, he is happy to be tucked in, and he stays all night. He has never been pushy with my pack, and when he has been snapped at by his foster brother, he backs away…He is a special boy that deserves his forever home. He will do best with someone who is able to provide walks and play time daily. He will be available after a dental.

Story
**courtesy post** Meet Semper Fi! This little girl comes from a family of military. Semper Fi is the Marine Corps motto, meaning “Always Faithful” 🫶 This is my grandmother’s little dog who passed away recently 💔 I was sooo worried for her because she was so depressed & wouldn’t make eye contact. She was obsessed with my grandma. Really, they were obsessed with each other almost to the point where it was unhealthy 😂 My grandma & I caught her in 2016. We found out she was pregnant & she had 2 beautiful babies that found homes quickly. I wanted to adopt her out too but my grandma had just put her other little dog down & she needed a dog for her soul. So she stayed. My grandma was SO scared of losing her - she never let her outside. She used pee pads. I know this might sound cruel but my grandma didn’t know any better and only wanted to protect this street dog. Can you imagine not going outside for 8 years? Can you imagine losing your mom & having your whole world flipped upside down? You can now understand why I was so worried for this little dog having to face such a huge transition. Since being with me for a few days now, she goes in / outside on her own & LOVES the sunshine and exploring - it’s so cute to watch her discover this new life. She is looking for a patient home that will understand they need to go slow and allow her time to adjust, thrive and blossom. Whoever adopts her will need a secure yard. Spayed, vaccinated & microchipped. Let us know if you're interested!
