Story
Meet Chiquita Female DOB: May 18, 2024 Weight: 30 lbs Breed: Pinscher / Catahoula Mix Spayed (Fixed) Vaccinated Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Chiquita is a sweet, affectionate girl with a loving personality and a gentle connection to her people. She enjoys attention, companionship, and being close to her humans, making her the kind of dog who quickly becomes part of the heart of the home. She has matured beautifully beyond the young puppy stage while still keeping a playful spark and curious personality. Chiquita enjoys interaction and companionship but also has a softer, affectionate side that makes her a wonderful cuddle companion. As a Pinscher / Catahoula mix, Chiquita may show traits such as intelligence, alertness, curiosity, and loyalty. Pinscher mixes are often confident and engaging, while Catahoula-type dogs are known for their awareness, devotion, and strong bond with their families. Chiquita would thrive in a home that can provide: Companionship and interaction Daily walks and moderate activity Structure and consistency Inclusion as part of the family She would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loving dog with both personality and affection. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from very different backgrounds. Some may have previously lived in homes, while others may have come from the streets, overcrowded shelters, neglect situations, or environments where they had little structure or guidance. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. Even dogs who appear well-behaved in foster care or at the rescue are still adjusting and learning. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should be prepared to continue training and support after adoption. Chiquita will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Structure and consistency Patience during adjustment periods Continued socialization and engagement Routine and companionship Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, stability, and commitment, rescue dogs often blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, training, mental stimulation, and financial responsibility. Chiquita will need: Daily walks and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine wellness exams and preventative veterinary care A safe, stable, indoor living environment Consistent veterinary care, proper nutrition, preventative care, and emotional stability are all essential to helping her live a healthy and happy life. Chiquita is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside. Story
Penny is a 5 year old maybe Min Pin/Chihuhua mix (or maybe just one or the other?) weighing about 9lbs.  Penny was brought to a shelter in Texas because she had a leg injury her owners couldn't/wouldn't pay for.  They surrendered her to the shelter, where they were able to diagnose her with a broken leg.  She was then transferred to a vet that operated on her leg, fixing the break.  She recovered in a wonderful foster home in Texas and then was transported here to find a forever family.  Here is what Penny's foster Momma has to say about her: "Penny is such an easy going, loving little dog.  She is going to make a wonderful addition to any family. She wants nothing more than to be near you even if its a bed next to your desk.  She will follow you everywhere, and nothing makes her happier than to sit in your lap - movie night is her favorite. She loves to snuggle with her humans in bed at night, and tends to get super excited when she first gets into bed cuz she knows cuddle time is coming!  She is totally fine around my bigger dogs and has started to play a little with my dog Charlie.  She is truly just friendly with everybody.  She sometimes coo's, especially when getting ready for bed, and will do little circle dances, which are adorable.  She has never messed in the house, but we do let her out pretty frequently.  She seems to be pretty smart!" Story
** If you are interested in adopting Pepper please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Meet Pepper! Pepper is an adorable, 10 month old, 11lb Chihuahua / Miniature Pinscher mix (and while she may fill out just a tiny bit more, she's expected to stay a wonderfully portable size of around 11–13 lbs full grown). If you're looking for a best friend who wants nothing more than to love and be loved, Pepper may be your perfect match. This precious little girl is as sweet as they come. She has such a gentle, affectionate personality. Pepper is incredibly friendly and has a warm, welcoming nature that makes her easy to fall in love with. She enjoys meeting new people and greets life with a happy, loving spirit. Her adorable face, expressive eyes, and charming personality tend to win over everyone she meets. Pepper gets along beautifully with other dogs and would likely enjoy having a playful dog companion in her forever home, though she would also be happy soaking up all the attention as your one and only. She has a sweet social style and enjoys both playtime and simply hanging out with her dog buddies. At just 10 months old, Pepper still has all the wonderful puppy qualities that make this age so much fun. She enjoys exploring the world around her, learning new things, and sharing adventures with her family. At the same time, she has a naturally affectionate and cuddly personality that balances out her youthful energy. She loves playtime, but she's just as content settling in for some quality snuggle time afterward. Pepper's ideal home is one that will include her as a cherished member of the family. She would love daily walks, fun outings, cozy naps, and plenty of opportunities to shower her people with affection. Her small size makes her easy to bring along on adventures, and her loving personality makes her a joy to have by your side. We'd like to place Pepper in a home where she'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Pepper is up to date on her vaccinations, has been fully vetted, is healthy, heartworm negative, and is spayed. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
